Spur of the moment decision to eat out after a busy day at work took us to the Three Eagles which was surprisingly busy given that it was a Monday. We were offered a choice of a table indoors or outside in the courtyard -...we choose outside as it was a pleasant evening and anyhow some of the tables have heaters. The waitress also offered us a blanket. It was nice to be out in the fresh air after sitting in a stuffy office all day and the courtyard at the back is a nice place to be. Our food was good - my partner had the pork ribs which looked truly impressive. However he felt there wasn’t enough BBQ sauce with it - but this was no problem our excellent waitress (who came to check our meals were ok) sorted out some extra sauce from the kitchen. I had the crispy Welsh Beef upgraded to a meal with salad and fries. The Beef was delicious - tender and full of flavour. Also had a side of Broccoli as I love my veg and it was cooked perfectly. Our desserts were great too - I’ve had a chocolate sphere on a previous visit but they never fail to impress - such a great concept. Our waitress Seren P was excellent. She was knowledgable about the menu, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Thanks for a lovely evening!More

We visited to celebrate daughters graduation. So disappointed Husband did not like his pie or the gravy to be fair that was exchanged but the shock we got when two of us had ordered fillet steak I had two pieces of thin steak well done...when I ordered medium rare! My daughter got a sirloin which was not what we ordered. They were exchanged fillet arrived reason give trainee chef's. Wine and drinks were given by a female manager Which were gratis but found the menu poor certainly not 5 star. The three Eagles has become more of a up market burger joint. Not fine dining by any stretch If you want burgers you will love it if you expect a varied interesting menu not the place to go. Very disappointing.More

Location: The three eagles is easy to find in the town centre, about 1 minute walk from the bridge. There is no parking on the streets immediately surrounding it. Disabled access: with outside booths, ground floor bar and restaurant, access should be possible for most....Staff: all the staff were young, friendly and efficient. It was strangely reassuring to see them all in the same uniform. Pros: Food and drinks were all reasonably priced. We had the Sunday lunch (beef or roast of the day or mixed). Great to see a mixture of different vegetables instead of the usual peas and carrots. This had cabbage, mashed root veg, roast potatoes and a bowl of cauliflower cheese. Delicious. The meat was plentiful and very tasty. There’s also a very mixed and interesting menu, so something for every Cons: The the meal is served with the gravy on. Why? If you serve an average amount, then statistically most people will think it’s either too much or too little (we found it too much). So serve it separate and let everyone give themselves the amount they want. Secondly, they add a 7% gratuity onto the bill automatically. They shouldn’t. They should let us decide if the food and service warrant it (it did, but that’s not the point). They shouldn’t put people in the awkward position of having to ask to not pay. Wifi: yes. Definitely worth trying and we will visit again the next time we’re passing through.More

Thanks for your review. I'm delighted you enjoyed the food and service, including our staff uniforms! We do serve our roasts with gravy on them as most people prefer it that way. However you like it, let us know and we will happily oblige!

Fabulous food, served promptly. My daughter went back a couple of days later as she was so impressed with it. Pity we don’t live in the area, as we would definitely be regulars.

There is outside seating where dogs are allowed and also dogs are allowed in the bar area where there is seating. If you book in advance choose either of these two areas.
