Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have eaten here 3 times since new couple took over. Fabulous food. Cooked with care and pride by a proper chef. Good quality food. A real gem.

Wouldn’t recommend here at all purely down to one lazy server. We got to the pub at 7pm yesterday we were greeted by two lovely bar tenders who quickly sorted us a drink and explained a server named Charlotte would have us seated. After half...an hour I started to become uncomfortable. The man on the bar said he would chase Charlotte up another 10 minutes she rudely pushes past us to get to the kitchen, and then refuses to acknowledge us. We carried on standing and being patient when another customer or maybe manager on a break storms over to Charlotte and tells her we’ve been waiting ages and it was acceptable. Charlotte then rudely comes over to us tells us there’s an hour wait on food and whether we wanted to stay or not her attitude clearly couldn’t be arsed to serve. We accepted the hour wait on food remained polite and asked to be seated. Charlotte sits us down and riddles explains how she won’t be taking our order for at least an hour which confuses me as she could take our order and send it to the kitchen and we would wait however long it would take. She’s extremely rude and storms off we appreciate there may have been a wait but the restaurant was barely even full there was around 5 empty tables she just gave us the impression she couldn’t be bothered. So we decided to leave we appreciate there may be a wait but her entire attitude made us leave what was a lovely pub and lovely bar staff not sure what her issue was with us but there clearly was one. And we didn’t even complain once again as we didn’t want to inconvenience anyone. So to whoever reads this from the hotel please train Charlotte on how to speak to people like human beings before you lose more customersMore

Didn’t eat here because straight away we were met with £9.80 for a glass of wine! Why oh why do people charge extortionate prices for wine when beer, wine etc is at a normal price.

Not the greatest experience. Its a pub with very average food. Price are low, seems to be quite popular right on the bridge in Llangollen.

Came here every night of our weeks stay in Llangollen, mostly for drinks with children but ate as two adults on our first night. Both had the chilli with rice and chips, very tasty and good pub food. Other nights we came for drinks with...early or later on , three adults and two children. Were always made to feel welcome, whatever the time, by the friendly staff. When the kitchen finished a bowl of free chips were put on the table for the children, it goes a long way to keeping them happy. Overall a busy pub and well worth a visitMore

Always our place of choice for Sunday dinner. £13.99 for three meats is a huge dinner with all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious meal served by happy, lovely staff what more can you ask!

We first popped in a month or so ago, and was amazed at the quality of the today we had that Sunday. The place has got a lovely cosy old fashioned feel, a good traditional pub, but then the for came out and ... just....... WOW. The quality of the meats was excellent, served on your plate with roasties, moreish cubes of stuffing, fluffy Yorkshire and mini sausages, slathered in gravy (to be fair I did have the 3meat feast option). A separate salvo of veg and further gravy appeared and was promptly all devoured. High class service with none of the pretention. Absolutely delightful. Have just returned with the family for a 2nd stint, and did not disappoint either (same quality and they even served up heavy on the other meat when 1 person wanted the 3meat but not the pork). This place is certainly a new favourite and will be the go to for the foreseeable, well worth the 1.5hr drive 😁 Lovely selection of Robinson's ales available, usual pub offering in drinks aside. Busy afternoon today but didn't get a chance to thank the host (manager?) working the reception today, but fully deserving of said thanks.More

Great value for money, and good quality pub grub. 3 children, 3 adults. Childrens meals were huge and free all summer holidays, freshly cooked and not over cooked like in some pubs. Good choice of adult mains and even the MIL who is quite particular...was impressed with her steak sandwich, cooked just right. The vegetarian option wasn’t available but we were offered 2 other options not shown on the menu which was appreciated. Friendly staff and good service. I’d give it a 5 if the ladies loo’s were cleaner and tidier but needed a once over. Would definitely returnMore

This Robinsons House is the last man standing on this side of the river with the demise of the Ponsonby Arms and has had a makeover a little while back and is now quite smart inside. Two areas internally with the larger dining room section...to the left and the lounge bar to the right of the main entrance. A mixture of wooden flooring and stone flags, the decor is now pastel shades with lighter walls above darker lower wood panelling. The bar now has four hand pumps in one group at the end of the bar as you enter the lounge and are now the first thing you see. For my couple of visits during the week we were in town these were Citra Pale, Unicorn and Dizzy Blonde available on the first three and 2 Rosie pig ciders badged on the 4th. Tried the Citra Pale and the Dizzy Blonde during our visits and found them served in good condition. There is a small enclosed courtyard garden to the back of the pub but the best outside spot still remains the sun trap tables to the front of the pub. We didn’t find it too bad to sit here despite the busy road in front as the junction with Bridge Street is such a dodgy junction the traffic tends to be slow when navigating it.More

We booked in last minute for a meal prior to going on the train from the station opposite. The food was good and plentiful, the chef came out to advise hubby, who is vegetarian, on choices. It got a bit busy during our meal, and...as we were due on the train for a set time we had to ask for our desserts to be brought out - not the fault of the staff and they were very apologetic, but it normally it wouldn't have been an issue. Nice relaxed atmosphere, would recommend.More
