Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The restaurant is difficult to find tucked down below the promenade by the maritime museum. It's worth it for the small restaurant which has a maritime shack feel with lime-washed pale blue wood-lined walls. It reminded me of places I've eaten beside the beach on the Algarve. We had a table by the window overlooking to old lifeboat slipway and harbour. The food was excellent and the service smooth. We went with the small plates and were advised three each would be OK as you get a salad or portion of chips included. We had one of each to accompany our dishes. All six small plates were very good with the smoked haddock and salmon fishcake and the Tandoori chicken strips with minted garlic yoghurt probably the pick of the six. The chips were big, fat and beautifully cooked. We shared a bottle of the house merlot which was very acceptable without being over the top price-wise. The chocolate fondant and the creme brulee proved an excellent choice of deserts. A very enjoyable evening.

Excellent little bistro with a varied menu. Caked in on spec just after they opened at 12am and got a seat out on the terrace. We chose three small plates which came with a free side (we had fried) for our 3 dishes we chose the moules mariniere, lamb koftas and tandoori chicken strips. Service was excellent and fast and the dishes were served in cast iron skillets which ensured everything stayed hot. The mussels were plump and delicious and sauce was superb; the lamb koftas were flavorful and well seasoned a nd the tandoori ckicken was moist and tasty. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with 2 pints of Italian beer for less than £30

We all know the location is stunning so that won't come as a surprise to anyone but the food was absolutely outstanding. Had the 3 small plates offer for £17.50 which came included with fries too. All 3 plates were lovely and it's great value for money compared to similar tapas menus locally. Sticky toffee pudding is probably the best I've ever had too, highly recommend that. Customer service was also very good.

The staff were rude and the food was average for the price. It was too much trouble for them to split the bill and we waited over an hour for food even though other people who arrived later than us, received their food first. Will not be returning.

We hadn’t been here since before the pandemic and had forgotten how lovely it is. We took our visiting family here including our 15 month old grandson, the welcome was as warm and friendly as ever, food was great especially the local freshly caught dressed crab. Our visitors were blown away by the spectacular views and ambiance of this little gem of a restaurant. We’ll be back shortly!

We stopped by Newry beach for a spot of spontaneous fishing off the pier and ventured in to the Harbour Front bistro for a drink before heading home. But boy - we are so glad we stayed for the amazing food! Hugely spoiled for choice …… The burger was phenomenal and the tacos were to die for. The mixed small plates - 3 for £17.95 with an accompanying salad or fries were delicious. Needless to say we had clean plates all round. The service was phenomenal and the staff were so friendly and welcoming to all who visited. We will definitely be back & consider ourselves so lucky to have rediscovered this wee gem of a place.

My wife and I spent a few days in the Trearddur Bay Area, sampling the assorted industrial food on offer in several highly rated eating places and wondering why no one seemed able to cook any more and remembering the good old days when your meal was cooked when you sat down, and not the dubious delights from a factory in Milton Keynes or wherever, or something from their prep room that had seen better days. Then we found the Harbour Front Bistro, we were in heaven. The situation must be one of the best in the U.K., the gentlemen in charge oversaw every thing and attended to every detail, collecting litter blown from the shore, digging out blankets for a party who felt the chill outside, watching the staff, seemingly being everywhere and radiating a laid back cheerfulness. Our meal was cooked to order, well presented and really tasty, why is this now a rare experience? We had Sea Bass fillet with purple sprouting broccoli, green beans, aldente carrot cubes and crushed new potatoes with prawns in a delicious sauce. This was followed by a very good creme brullee with passion fruit, it was enough to make you want to move in down the road. The introduction of mass production in the latter part of the 19th century meant that items could be produced by unskilled labour. Sadly this has now been copied by most of the hospitality industry, who now only need someone who can use a micro wave and a calculator. Well done Harbourfront for bucking the trend.

The food is excellent, service is quick and the staff are friendly and helpful. The menu has a good selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options to cater for various diets and the prices are reasonable. The views of the harbour are great and there is outdoor seating to take full advantage of them. Would recommend.

We have visited the Harbourfront Restaurant twice recently and had fabulous meals on both occasions. We were lucky enough to enjoy lovely weather so we were able to sit outside which offers beautiful views of the Harbour. The whole of the dining experience was superb, from the friendliness of the staff to the food itself, which is exceptional. We ordered Hot wings and grilled goats cheese for starters and the Fillet of Sea bass for our Mains, everything was mouthwatering and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning to this little gem of a restaurant and would recommend anyone staying around Holyhead visit.this wonderful establishment.

Gorgeous location overlooking the beach and sea, very attentive hosts - without being intrusive and the food was superb. We asked for slight changes to the what was on the menu (as 93 year old dad doesn't have a huge appetite now), and they were extremely accommodating. Highly recommend, as does my dog, for being allowed on the terrace whilst we ate and of course the pre and after lunch swim...him, not me!

Food order taken I ordered lamb rump with seasonal veg my partner had the Sunday lunch roast beef on arrival both dishes were well presented and tasted wonderful. I discovered I have coeliac disease which means I strictly can not eat any traces of gluten- even through undetectable cross-contamination. The staff at this restaurant were very friendly and knowledgable about my condition, have separate friers for all gluten free items and have lots of gluten free options including desserts. The food was absolutely delicious- I had steak, salt and pepper squid, mussels and fries. Highly recommended if you're coeliac or have an allergy to gluten.

We have eaten here several times over the past 6 months for lunch and it’s always good so we thought we would try it in the evening for a change. Absolutely fabulous again, service is always personal and attentive and the food first class. We both had steaks which were perfectly cooked and served with skin on chunky chips, tomato, mushroom and a beautiful peppercorn sauce. We had to try dessert, I opted for the chocolate fondant which was perfect and my husband had his favourite sticky toffee pudding which again was gorgeous. Can not fault this place, it’s definitely one of the best in the area and being small has a charm that many of the larger restaurants lack. Highly recommend and Weill always be one of our favourites

The Harbour Bistrol is tucked away next to the Maritime Museum in Holyhead, Anglesey and is like a hidden gem. The service, ambiance and quality of the food was superb. As visit is highly recommended but I would consider booking ahead as all tables were reserved when we arrived but we were lucky they could just about fit us in for lunch before they got busy

Friends and I stopped at Harbourfront for drinks after a walk along the beach. We greatly enjoyed a round of ciders and ended up being enticed by their sticky toffee pudding. While we didn’t sample their menu more widely, we loved what we had! That plus the view made for a lovely, relaxing afternoon.
