Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would be very easy to miss the Cwellyn Arms, looks like just another rural Welsh village pub. We're very glad we didn't, having turned up hoping for reasonable pub grub on a wet Sunday evening. In. summary we had an excellent meal of tasty well...presented food. Of particular note was the Chicken Supreme and the Fish Pie, but everything we had was good. Followed up by some lovely home made desserts - normally the weakest part of a meal but not here. The place was quiet but atmosphere was still good with a wood fire going and a few interesting local beers on draught as well. Highly recommended - we will be back.More

I was sitting at the table with my pint of Erdinger, I'd drank about a third of it when I was suddenly approached by the barman who offered to liven up my pint. At first I was confused by this as in 20 years of...drinking beer no-one has said such a thing to me. But anyway I eventually agreed to it, the barman took my pint away and returned it to me full to the top of the glass with a head on it. Excellent customer service! Incredible. It may have been a thursday, the first one in August, perhaps mid to late afternoon. I think he was slim, fair hair. Well done to all. I will be back in the future, but we're English, so it won't be soonMore

Food disappointing compared to last time we visited, fish pie was more potato than fish and overpriced at £21+. Better and cheaper options in nearby Beddgelert.

Came here by chance looking for a late lunch after a delightful walk from Beddgelert. What a lucky find! Excellent real ale, and superb food. The puddings were some of the best we've ever eaten.

This pub has charm and character. It certainly fits the mould of a British pub. Plenty of draft beers on tap and a good selection of wine, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages, so there is plenty to choose from. The food was excellent and we dined...here on two nights. The quality of the service matched the food and beverages. The unexpected bonus was listening to Welsh people talk about their day, sports or heaven forbid politics. Couldn’t understand a word they said, but it didn’t matter. Their dulcet tones were enchanting. A couple of fun nights in a small Welsh village nestled under the majestic Snowdon Mountain.More

Out on a bike bimble and decided to stop for a bite to eat. Given a warm welcome and handed the menus. The choice was very good. You order and pay at the bar. Served by a smiling Australian young lady. The portions were a...bit small but very tasty. Presentation was good. We will call again no doubt on our travels.More

What can say?! Probably the most understated pub/inn I have ever been in! They say don't judge a book by it's cover and it's never been more true than at the Cwellyn Arms! Eventhough driving through Rhyd-Ddu you'd miss it if you blinked, it is...definitely well worth stopping in for a drink or better still, a meal. The staff there is friendly, helpful (even walked us to our Airbnb on our arrival as we couldn't find it!) and fun. The place is cozy and comfortable and the food is out of this world. We had dinner there on 2 occasions and tried several different dishes between the 3 of us and I would recommend every single one of them. The slow cooked lamb (Welsh of course!), the leek and wild mushroom risotto, the bangers and mash, the creamy garlic mushrooms with brioche and the pork belly croquettes. But the absolute best was dessert. Yr Wyddfa Pôb. Just amazing! Would highly recommend to book to avoid disappointment. I know nothing is ever perfect but on this two occasions we couldn't fault anything at the Cwellyn Arms.More

Spent two nights at the camp site for a visit to Snowdon. The grounds are beautiful and it's position is perfect being surrounded by the lake, a forest and the mountains. Honestly, couldnt ask for a better space. Facilities have everything you could need and...the place appears well run. Pub was a little pricey for what you get, but it's just a short walk away from the camp site so you pay for the convenience I guess.More

Surprisingly great food! We stopped in for a late lunch after a hike. The food was so good that we returned for dinner. The “Mac and black” was rich and delicious, the gravlax with beets was light and full of flavors, and everyone’s mains were...tasty and satisfying. Mint ice cream was clearly homemade- amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We couldn’t have been happier with the food or the experience.More

Booked a bank holiday camping trip on the close by site located down the road. Fantastic site with all the facilities you could need and amazing views all round with a stunning lake. Great base camp to climb Snowdon, we went up the Rhyd Ddu...and down the Ranger path making a nice 10mile loop with the Cwellyn Arms to end the route. Booked an evening meal, really good food, very friendly service. Highly recommend….Many thanks!More

My husband was doing the Snowdon Half Marathon in April 2022. I was going to support, with the pups, so I had looked up dog friendly pubs in the area ahead of the visit in case Rafa and I needed somewhere to keep warm and...dry whilst we waited. I came across the Cwellyn Arms. As it was, it was fairly dry that day, so we stayed out walking. And once my husband finished we wandered here for a well earned pint and bite to eat. I hadn't booked; 1. because I didn't know what time he would finish/when I would visit and 2. I didn't anticipate it being massively busy- it was not half term. When we walked in, it was completely empty. There were no reservation signs on any tables, but when we asked if we could take a seat anywhere, staff looked frustrated by our presence and said no, and guided us to a seat. It was fairly near the fire which was nice. When we asked if we could order food, it felt like an inconvenience. We ordered food to share; a carpaccio and a ploughmans, which was actually really lovely. But we couldn't shift that feeling that we weren't particularly welcome. Top tip, book in advance for a warmer welcome as I don't feel they like surprise drop ins!More
