Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice food, rice was a bit bland but everything else pretty decent, shame about the added extras, we came here and have spent over £100 on food and drinks (£3 for some prawn crackers!!) and then we asked to take some of the food away as we couldn’t eat it all.. 50p per pot?! Sorry what? So if I had a take away would I have to pay extra for it to be in a pot? I’ve never been somewhere before and had to pay to take my food away that I’ve already paid for 🤣🤣🤣

Haven’t been here for a few years but it was disappointing compared to our last visit. Took ages to get a drink and when the food was served it was on plastic plates so went cold quickly. We did not get any bowls or chop stick so ate the meal off small side plates. A meal for 3 cost £72 which is a lot for the service given in a restaurant which needs a refurb. Wake up sleepy panda before people start going else where.

Perhaps it's because of rising fuel costs but the restaurant was unheated on what was quite a cold Autumn night tonight. And the frosty demeanour of the waiters didn't help. Unfriendly, unsmiling, functional and doing nothing to make diners feel welcome. I haven't been for a long time and was surprised how few people were eating on a Thursday night. From memory it used to be packed. The food tasted good but it was just as well we had the set meal with starters because the main courses were very small portion sizes. The drinks were pretty expensive. All in all an average experience but one which suggests the Sleepy Panda has fallen a long way from its previous high standards. We won't be rushing back.

We have used the Sleepy Panda many times in the past and it has been the high standard that others locally could not reach. However We ordered two curries A king prawn and a chicken Both the prawns and the chicken were well cooked but both meals were spoilt by far too many onions and unfotunately the mushrooms looked and tasted as though they had been purchased from Tesco's (opposite) reduced shelf. The meals cost £20 and I could have cooked better for under £5.00 Sorry you have lost my custom

I’ve dined here several times in the past with family and friends and we always looked forward to the excellent food and warm atmosphere. Unfortunately, our recent visit was a letdown. The food quality has noticeably declined—dishes that used to be delicious and well-prepared seemed lacklustre and poorly executed this time around. The service was still friendly but standards have slipped. Disappointing to say the least.

Having looked at the comments before we came I can only say we must have gone to the wrong restaurant. A very tired looking place, you get a fork (no cutlery or even chopsticks) so doesn't expect much in the way of clients that can use cutlery. An economy serviette, why not go the whole hog and just put a roll of kitchen towel on the table? The food was very plain, straight out of a freezer and no effort made to garnish or even make it look interesting. I felt robbed. Never again.

Went here with all my family for new years eve, the meal was lovely not the best ever but nice. The staff was great but the older (owners, managers) was terrible with the staff. I then realised this was where my friends daughter had worked and left because she was spoken to awful also the staff recieve non of the tips. I was so annoyed when I realised we had paid £24 for tip that the owners keep. I did enquire and the staff was just embarrassed and wouldn't say anything and the lady owner just bare faced lied. This is the second year we have been and both bills was over £300. I will be contacting trading standards as soon as silver can. It's just so very wrong.

Brought my grandson who loves Chinese food , he goes to a restaurant in Cheshire but was on holiday with us. Firstly my husband asked what bitter you had, the young man said I don’t know , so we took pot luck. We asked what Monk chicken was, the young lady did not know and wouldn’t have checked had we not requested her to. My grandson loved his lemon chicken. We as vegetarians ordered the vegetarian platter, it came with two sauces one of which had chicken in. We found this out once we had tried it. However the food on the platter was lovely and so too the vegetable curry and the aubergine dish. All good was piping hot. Just disappointed with service and knowledge of food also at no point were we asked about allergies.

Nice ambience, sadly the food let it down . We had hot and sour soup . It was very sweet , this is a savoury dish no need for sweetening. The main was ok but really nothing special . I can't pinpoint the problem with the food . The rice was not nice usually Chinese rice has nice taste this was bland . The main was nothing special , a lot of sauce and not much else

We’re on holiday in the area and fancied a Chinese. Pickings seemed pretty slim around Llangollen, Wrexham and Oswestry but then I happened upon reviews for this place. I have had a lot of Chinese food from a lot of different places and this is one of the best. We had Chicken Lettuce Wrap and Veg spring rolls to start with, both fantastic. Then we had sweet and sour chicken and a chicken chowmein with fried rice for the mains - again everything was lovely. Along with wine and cokes it came to £47 which is really reasonable. The staff were really good and attentive and the restaurant was clean, slightly old fashioned but nice enough. If you want Chinese and you’re in the area - I highly recommend The Sleepy Panda.

Family dinner for 50th birthday and meal was delicious. We had various starters including crispy duck and chicken satay skewers. All very good and came out in good time. The main dishes followed quickly after. The steak with black bean sauce, chilli beef in birds nest and three chicken dishes ( sweet and sour, and salt and pepper ) were all cooked to perfection and accompanied by egg fried rice, chips and bean sprouts. The staff were very cheerful and looked after us very well

This is the first time that I went there for a sit down meal, usually it's a take away place for me. The restaurant was very busy, and the waiters were rushed off their feet, which meant that our table service wasn't great. The starter platter was quite small for two, the mains were good, succulent prawns that were cooked nicely. But the ambience just wasn't there - bare walls, apart from the back wall, bland and beige surroundings, white table cloth, white plates. It should be colourful but it just wasn't there. During the lockdown this place couldn't been transformed and revived from its drab and dated look. Perhaps, a tea candle in a holder for each table would lift the ambience?..

This evening we turned up without booking due to another restaurant booking error. When entering The Sleepy Panda restaurant it was noted by me and my partner, that the front entrance was clean, the lighting was warm and welcoming. The Staff behind the Reception who warmly welcomed us were: Yoyo and Richard & we were then swiftly looked after and attended to with the highest of professionalism of which we were truly Grateful to all of the staff. During our stay from 19:35 pm to 21:25 pm we experienced that all restaurant Staff including Jordan were all very attentive, and looked after all patrons with a smile. We ordered our drinks & within minutes were served with a smile, appetisers, Main courses were lovely and hot & the presentation was pleasing, Pudding and Coffee were presented with the same quality and all staff were professional at all times. Spacing inside the restaurant was perfect, in order for each table to have there personal privacy, Carpets, table cloths were changed in a timely manner, furnishings throughout were pleasing on the eye. Thank you for making our meal & visit a memorable experience.

Would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant. A particular member of staff was extremely RUDE, made us feel exceptionally uncomfortable, and it definitely wasn’t worth the money, WONT be returning . The lager tasted of the cleaning stuff they use to clean the pipes, asked to swap it for something different, got filthy looks and was extremely rude about the situation. So be warned , check the Stella before you drink it .
