Octavo's Book Cafe & Wine Bar

Ratings and reviews

Certificate of Excellence2018 Winner

Location and contact

Based in the heart of the creative quarter of Cardiff, Octavo's is a really friendly place to relax. The beautiful old Victorian former hotel is now a book shop, café and wine bar. It offers a range of delicious local food with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free items on the menu. The café has a lovely children's book area and is very family friendly. The book shop has a wide and ever changing range of titles, but it's never too much trouble to take customer orders and with a fast delivery service it's possible to get your books as soon as the following day. Octavo's has been shortlisted for Book Shop of the Year in 2017 & 2018 and is the ideal place to relax and browse.

Popped into octavos for a coffee and a cheese and pickle sandwich as I do regularly and I noticed that the lovely young lady who usually serves me, Emily hasn’t been there the few days I’ve attended. I didn’t want to ask the gentleman behind...More

Always pop in when in the area. The bookshop and cafe is a good mix. Some vegan options, homemade sandwiches, generally a nice place to sit alone or meet friends.

We booked afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday, and our experience didn't really match the other reviews, which are all really positive. There were a range of sandwich fillings, a choice of four (I think) for the omnivores and four for the veggie - and...More

We visited on a busy Sunday lunch time and it was evident the two members of staff serving customers were struggling to keep up. They were very friendly and notified customers of the delays, but we felt they needed one extra person to help out...More

We had an afternoon tea Groupon voucher. Great value. Delicious, great service, great location, ideal for dog owners and, of course, book lovers. I will recommend in the future.

I don’t usually write reviews but I HAD TO create an account just to give this marvellous young lady a mention. We came in at about half 3 today and we had ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich and a coffee each. We were greeted...More

More of a cafe and a place for prosecco and afternoon teas. The woman who served me was under the illusion she had 80,000 titles on display! when Waterstones in town has only 60,000 an that's two floors! Nice cafe though but you can't browse...More
