Based in the heart of the creative quarter of Cardiff, Octavo's is a really friendly place to relax. The beautiful old Victorian former hotel is now a book shop, café and wine bar. It offers a range of delicious local food with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free items on the menu. The café has a lovely children's book area and is very family friendly. The book shop has a wide and ever changing range of titles, but it's never too much trouble to take customer orders and with a fast delivery service it's possible to get your books as soon as the following day. Octavo's has been shortlisted for Book Shop of the Year in 2017 & 2018 and is the ideal place to relax and browse.

We booked afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday, and our experience didn't really match the other reviews, which are all really positive.

More of a cafe and a place for prosecco and afternoon teas. The woman who served me was under the illusion she had 80,000 titles on display! when Waterstones in town has only 60,000 an that's two floors! Nice cafe though but you can't browse...More
Small, quiet, quaint. Wooden floors and charming decorations. Half of the store is a book shop and the other half a seating area for the coffee shop / bar.
Regular quiz nights and book signings.

My friend took me here for afternoon tea for a belated birthday treat.
Lovely surroundings, quirky books and gifts, and lovely staff.
Afternoon tea gave us four different sandwich fillings, scones butter jam and cream, carrot cake, Welsh cakes, fruit cake and cupcakes.
