We visited here on a Monday in August to use the 50% off scheme and were so impressed! The pizzas are huge, but stone baked and so light meaning you can eat so much of it ! There are so many options to choose from and the waitress allowed customisations to pizzas too. The cocktails here are so cheap at only £4! The aperol spritz and pink gin cocktails were fab. The only bad point is that the pornstar martini didn’t taste nice at all sadly. The staff here are all so friendly and attentive, the food arrives so quickly and tastes so good! Will definitely be visiting again, pizzas priced at about £9 too, such a bargain.

The aracini bolognese was delicious and the pizza roma was huge! So yummy and they kindly boxed up the half I couldn't eat due to being so full. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere of people having a good time, surrounded by delicious smelling food. Will definitely be returning soon!

We have eaten at the Canton and Cathays restaurants a number of times and it has always been great value and lovely food.
Yesterday we had a family meal for Fathers day. Everyone enjoyed their meals as usual but I has the most fantastic pizza I have ever tasted including pizza in Italy.
Everyone was surprised when i chose a calabrisella pizza as i normally have pasta but what a choice, the tastes were exploding in my mouth, it was like having a meal in a very expensive fine dining reaurant in a pizza.!!!!

Our curiosity had been peaked ever since Calabrisella opened on Cathays Terrace as it always seemed busy. We decided to finally try them for a special occasion since they were participating in Eat out to Help Out.
We ordered one of the day's specials: the Sea Food Spaghetti, a Hawaiian Pizza which I requested also come with black olives, some Calamari and a Tiramisu for desert.
Service was standard - we were served by two waitresses, one very friendly (who forgot the olives on my pizza sadly (maybe best to write down the orders in future), and the other not so friendly. It felt like the pizza would have dropped into my lap had I not supported the rotating board it was served on (she placed it half on half off the table) and left us to rearrange things on the table to make room). Not that we minded, but in the moment it didn't feel very friendly as she just walked away as soon as possible and that felt like why it happened.
The food was okay to good - my partner really enjoyed the sea food spaghetti, but found the portion size small. The Calamari was delicious and the Tiramisu nothing to write home about.
I had some gripes with the pizza - the olives were forgotten, were then added onto the already cooked pizza after the fact, and overall i felt the pizza was not sufficiently topped which left it feeling barren in places (see picture).
The price was obviously good considering Eat out to Help Out (£16 ish), but sadly we felt the full price of £33+ but that is considering what is on offer at some of Cardiff's other Italian Restaurants.
Hoping we just got unlucky, but on balance we don't feel like we would return instead of going to other places like Cafe Citta or I Giardini di Sorrento, despite Calabrisella's really convenient location.

As you step your foot into the restaurant, you are welcomed by the magnificent italian setting, a beautiful combination of tradition and an immense pleasure. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouth-watering starters followed by the main courses. The restaurant also offers various types of pizzas, they serve one of the best pizza in Cardiff. Parma and Inferno Pizza are my favourite ones. The owner Salvatore is full of warmth and thoughtful of his guests. He is always around ready to hear all types of experiences from you and the rest of the guests.
Because of the brilliant atmosphere and delicious food service, I highly recommend going to Calabrisella Cathays and to the other branch in Canton.

So the starter we chose was the sharing platter. It was nice. Various meats, bread, olives and cheese.
Mains: One person had lasagne which was passable.
One had the fresh pasta calabrese which was nice - good tomato sauce with a really nice chilli heat and depth of flavour.
The down side was the sharing main of sea food. The fish fillet was dry and lacked flavour. The shell fish was charred beyond edible and it seemed to be a dish they had ‘reheated’ for service. Whilst we were there, several takeaway orders were being sent out which made it feel they were better geared to the takeaway pizza market. A shame as so many people had recommended this place as the best Italian in Cardiff. My wife mentioned all this and they discounted the fish dish.
We will return but not til the lockdown is finished and the restaurant is better aligned to the ‘eat in’ market.

Quick, efficient friendly order taking over the phone. Pizza was ready for collection bang on time. Ordered 4 pizzas and all were tasty, large and had an authentic crust. Lacked a bit of cheese and a of topping. Shame we can't get delivery to Rhiwbina!

Supported them throughout lockdown but now that we can get food delivered I ordered two pizzas the delivery time first said 6pm - 6.30 then minutes later it changed to 6.30 - 7.00. The cold pizzas came at 7.20. I rang the restaurant just after 6.30 to ask why there was a delay the waitress was rude she kept asking me for an order number but I didn’t have one. She said it’s not their fault if the delivery people are late!!!!!! Customer service attitude RUBBISH. We have literally had food from them once a week and during covid. The menu has now gone in the bin along with the cold pizzas. You should be ashamed treating customers like that.

Great place for good pizzas and beer. Honestly can’t fault a thing - service was kind and quick, the flavour of the food tasty, and the prices are really low for the quality served. We’ve been a few times when in the area and it’s always been good.

Popped in for a quick snack about 5pm while dropping son off to uni digs. Really lovely welcome, great atmosphere. Garlic pizza with cheese was so light and puffy and delicious. Made the mistake of sharing this among 3 so followed up with Tiramisu. So good! Will definitely come back but properly next time, for a full meal. A real gem of a place. Thank you. x

Not a great takeway experience!
On ordering 4 pasta dishes i expected all “pasta” to be the same. Two arrived with spaghetti two arrived with penne. All four dishes were extremely bland and pretty average. All the pasta was over cooked, the meatball pasta had only 3 mini meatballs in the dish. For the price paid im very disappointed. Ive eaten nicer ready meals.
Wont be using again!

Went there for dinner at 8:45 with another friend and both of us just came from library. We ordered carbonara and pancetta pasta and honestly they were one of the best one we have ever had. The flavorings were strong but won't make you sick and portion was generous. Lovely service and moderate price. Would come back again x

This was my first visit to Calabrisella in Cathays and I really enjoyed my visit.
I went at lunchtime and there was a really nice atmosphere which was helped by some rousing Italian music in the background.
The menu is vast including the Pizza menu. I was unsure which Pizza to have as there's so many to choose from. On this occasion I went for the Quattro Formaggi with added fresh chillies.
What a surprise when the Pizza arrived! It was such an impressive size and tasted very fresh.
It has to be said the Staff were really friendly and helpful and made you feel welcome.
As a final note I should add there's a lovely selection of lagers available.

I was very excited when I first saw the Cathays restaurant opening, and I haven’t been disappointed! The pizza base offers the perfect balance of soft, yet crispy. With sensational flavours and authentic ingredients, Calabrisella has a lot of heart. I often bring people here when they visit Cardiff as a great example of the high calibre culinary experiences the city has to offer. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the staff delightful, but even just to take away is an incredible experience.

Always on the lookout for a new brunch spot, we walk past Calabrisella every week and recently discovered they served breakfast until 2.
Headed down at 12h30 on a Saturday, staff were super friendly and welcoming and the food. Just wow.
The pizza was HUGE but gorgeous (the menu is extensive, took me 10 minutes to narrow it down to 3 pizza options...) and the Welsh breakfast left us speechless.
We were there for a good few hours and, after the main course had gone down a touch, decided we would also indulge in the sweet croissants.
One chantilly, one pistachio cream. Bursting with filling and beyond delightful.
This place should be full every mealtime, what a find and straight to the top of our list.
Can't wait to try it for dinner when the 6pm closing nonsense for restaurants is lifted.
