Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an absolutely amazing roast dinner here on Sunday. The lamb shank was exceptional with the added bonus of unlimited yorkshires, roasties and gravy. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there was such a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely eat here again!

Came with my family for Sunday lunch and even though we hadn't booked (I would advise booking!) Jon, the manager, found us a lovely table in the front bay window. The food was served quickly and was hot and delicious. Would highly recommend, excellent service...all around.More

Husband had lamb shank, he said it was cooked to perfection. I had the mushroom wellington, it was the tastiest Sunday roast I’ve eaten out in a long time. Love that you can have unlimited gravy, Yorkshires and roasties. Will be back soon. Great service...too.More

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon before dinner elsewhere. First time in here and really liked the place Pub is very nice and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beer garden was lovely - we particularly liked the things in place for dogs.....Only negative if you can call it that was 6.50 a beer... But other than that a nice couple of hours spent in there. Definitely be visiting againMore

Day of our 12 year old dog’s lives & a great end to a 7 day holiday in Wales. Such a lovely warm welcome from the 2 ladies on the bar for all of us (Nana, grumpy, Dax 4yrs) Lexi (12) Luther (12)) 2 adults...1 child 2 dogs. The dog menu made our day 😊 The food was great, the place and the people even better. Would definitely go back if we visit Wales again. Thank you 🥰More

I booked the Pen and Wig via opentable.com. Their menu looked good and they had good reviews. We were late arriving so I rang to let them know. They held the table with no issue. The pub is in a quiet road just outside the...city centre. We were fortunate that a member of our party who has a disabled parking badge was able to park right outside and there were disabled toilets on the ground floor. The food arrived really promptly and was very tasty, especially the deserts! They were really delicious and the portion size was generous. You could easily share a desert or try the mini ones. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I will would/will definitely go there again.More

Tucked away, this place is fantastic. A proper pub with cask ales. Called in on the off chance for Sunday Lunch and were treated to a delicious Sunday roast. Friendly staff attentive but not overbearing. This place must be one of Cardiff’ best kept secrets....Definitely will be back especially for the Sunday lunch.More

This is a very popular City - centre bar with a friendly "local" feel about it. It's where gaggles of students rub shoulders with after work "pen - pushers" in perfect harmony. On a sunny day the fairly large beer garden is a terrific place...to people watch whilst sinking a few pints of welsh IPA. Oh, and the food's not too shabby either.More

I was recommended this place by my friends and it is safe to say it did not disappoint! My roast beef dinner was spot on. Succulent meat, lots of veg and free top ups on potatoes, yorkshires and gravy was great value. The staff were...very friendly and helped me find the perfect beer to enjoy with my meal. Will definetely be returning!More

Not enjoyable. Pumps on the larger need cleaning - tangy taste. Chicken skewer starter was like a boiled chicken breast, very bland and unenjoyable. One of us had the beef Sunday dinner which was very over cooked, one had the lamb which was advertised like...a lamb shank but had 4 chunks of what seemed like stewing lamb piled onto the undercooked veg. Over priced and very disappointing.More
