With such good reviews and reputation I was so disappointed. There is no need for standards to drop just because they are only doing take away. Although even that was a bit strange. There outdoor area was available to sit in but they where not...cleaning down tables or emptying bins. The area was disgusting dirty and strewn with rubbish. The tea was weak and tasteless the cake was so cold we had to leave it to warm up for about 20 mins. They refused to pop it in microwave for a few seconds. Very very poor their reputation is out the windy.More

Currently open for take away only but you can use the outside tables; there is sanitiser available to use. Toilets not currently open. Stopped by twice recently for takeout. Great prices for homemade and tasty food. Both times we have had a sausage roll meal...(sausage roll, crisps and cold drink) and they have been fresh and tasty (variety of flavours). Also had an iced coffee with peanut butter syrup which was one of the best I’ve tasted! Also great homemade welsh cakes! Quick and friendly service and amazing location for the city or a walk in the park. Love to visit when in the Cardiff area :)More

I am so grateful to the wonderful staff at Pettigrew Tearooms. They saved our day!! We had originally planned to do something in the Castle grounds but when that fell through about a week in advance we were stuck for somewhere that had toilet access....We wanted to do it outdoors because Covid restrictions allowed for more people for a wedding party that way. Very last minute I contacted Pettigrew and they gave me a very reasonable deal - buy one item per guest (at a discounted price as well!) to have full use of their toilet all day! What a deal!! So we ordered a load of cakes and sausage rolls for the day and arranged a pick up time. They had great choices for all our guest's dietary requirements. They made sure the sausage rolls were hot for when we came to collect them, and provided cutlery and napkins too. I asked many of my guests what they thought of their food, and there were no complaints, in fact only the opposite. Everyone loved the food, and I thought they were sooo tasty and very filling. I literally cannot thank the Pettigrew crew enough for being so accommodating and making it all so easy to arrange. Fantastic communication too! I'd highly recommend this option for anyone looking for wedding catering on a budget!More

When asked if I could use the disabled toilet, I was told I couldn’t use it unless I’ve got a doctor’s certificate. Me and my friend are both registered blind, with disabled keys which was explained. I even offered to show him my disabled parking...badge. I’m personally unaware of anybody, including friends I know from the blind institute, that have got such a certificate. My friend and I were then forced to find another toilet to use, which is difficult for us with our eyesight. Unlike Pettigrew’s Tea Rooms, not one question was asked when another toilet facility was found.More

Pettigrew's has been my weekly treat during lockdown. Such a beautiful place and the food and drinks are always top quality. Only just learned that Mr Pettigrew was the designer of Bute Park which has added to the magic. A beautifully baked scone, Welsh Lady...strawberry jam and Rodda clotted cream with a lovely cup of tea would lift anyone's spirits! Thank you to everyone at Pettigrew's.More

Perfect way to end a walk through Bute Park! Only ever experienced the tea rooms during covid times so very excited to try their cream tea at some point. Only improvement - coffees could be slightly hotter!

I contacted them to help me give my daughter the 21st birthday she deserved as we couldn’t get to see her because of lockdown. Naomi was incredibly helpful and flexible and communicated with me and also my daughters partner to enable him to pick up...a delicious birthday tea. The food was apparently delicious and made her birthday feel special.More

I absolutely love and recommend this place. The outside is really pretty, in a castle style and the cakes were really good! We tried the salted caramel brownie and it was fabulous. The staff was lovely as well. I will definitely come back on my...next visit to Cardiff!More
