Came for a Sunday lunch with family and 2 large muddy dogs after a blustery very wet walk in the garth. Arrived cold wet and hungry. They let us bring the dogs despite they were wet and muddy. my roast chicken dinner arrived and it was what I'd been dreaming of, very generous portions, delicious veg, lots of gravy, very... More

Phoned up last minute to reserve a table - Wednesday evening at 8pm. When we arrived it was busy. Had a nice table in the corner. My wife had the steak and ale pie with chips - the pie was full of meat and really enjoyable. I had a steak with peppercorn sauce, served with chips and mushrooms. In a... More

Visited for Sunday Lunch today. Was advised to book as place was popular. Not wrong as when we arrived it was very busy, but within a minute we were asked by two different members of staff if they could help. Said we had a table booked and were told that table not quite ready, so what pre-lunch drinks did we... More

First time we have visited the Gwaelod for a few years. Food was first class with really good service in the upstairs restaurant. Good selection on menu and excellent choice of fine ales. Will definitely return

11 of us visited today for Sunday lunch. Thank you to the staff, it was so busy there, they were so helpful, ....apologetic because sittings running a bit late.., the food was so good. Worth every penny...can't recommend too highly. The combination of good food, management and staff makes the Gwaelod a five star venue.

We love the Gwaelod the food is consistently good, the welcome friendly and the bar warm, dog friendly and wonderfully relaxed just right after a long cold walk up the Garth mountain! The burgers were wholesome with real meat a very substantial lunch hubby spotted the faggots and peas which looked amazing a definite lure to return.

This is the best pub/ resterant in Cardiff, the food is all locally sauced and delisous, the beer range is good varied and alway on top form, they also brew their own beer on site. Most of the eating is done upstairs, so down stairs, still retains a traditional pub feel, there is also a good area outside to lap... More
