I visited without a booking this evening and was lucky to get a seat. The atmosphere here was great and the Staff very friendly and helpful. I had the Teriyaki Tempeh for a starter and I have to say that it was a beautifully presented dish and probably the best vegan dish I've ever had. I will be ordering it as a main next time it was so, so good! I then had the cauliflower, spinach & pea curry which was also presented to a very high standard. So tasty and would recommend to anyone, vegan or not! My favourite sacred juice is the Flame as I love ginger, it gives a great kick to the drink. I made a booking for this coming Sunday as I cannot wait to try their Nut Roast. As I've said before, their Rodeo burger was fantastic so I seriously can't wait until Sunday now! Thank you for a wonderful experience Anna-Loka, looking forward to dining with you again Sunday :)

Wasn't quite sure what to expect, as we are a family of meat eaters that often 'dabble' in vegetarian food but have never tried vegan. We were all totally blown away.
The restaurant is small and cosy, the first thing that hits you is the delicious smell of the food. Lovely atmosphere, quiet background music and plain, understated decor.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, enough time was given to chose our food.
The food was outstanding, lovely presentation and the flavours were amazing. Good selection of side dishes. Would definitely recommend and will return.

I visited Anna Loka on my lunch break today. I never normally spend money to eat out on my own but today I felt it was needed and wanted to treat myself. I'm so glad I did, the food was delicious but most importantly the service was just wonderful. I didn't catch his name but the man who served me really went above and beyond my normal cafe experience. He ensured I had everything I needed and I noticed he did the same with all the other customers. I could tell he was passionate about the business and the food when I heard him talk with others. I have had a emotiionally and physically tiring day, but my lunch at Anna Loka really helped me get through it. I will definitely be back!

On entry we were made aware that the restaurant would be closing within 1.5 hours of our arrival due to a private function. We weren’t made aware of this prior which I believe could have been communicated via email as the experience felt rushed.
Customer service gets mixed reviews as when greeted we were just pointed to our table not seated - there wasn’t one waiter serving us but a variety.
Our starter arrived very quickly which we were happy about and plenty of it for 2 people. (This wasn’t made clear on the menu).
Our mains arrived separately although the meal was lovely we feel presentation could have been better with more recommendation from the staff when choosing off the menu.
The side of onion rings were very greasy which we were unable to finish.
We only had 15 minutes to pick and eat off the dessert menu due to the private function and was told we were unable to order the bubble waffle because it would take too long to make.
The house wine was extortionately priced at £8.49 for a large glass. And a smoothie was £6.50 which are priced you’d expect to pay in London not a side street in Cardiff.
There was no parking and situated on a very busy main road which was misadvised on the website.
There was a lack of accessibility, lacking in disabled access.
The toilet was located at the back of the kitchen where the staff were all gathered.
After careful consideration we rate this place 5/10 - definitely room for improvement

Have been meaning to visit for ages and finally went last night. Sat in the ‘garden’ on uncomfortable seating. Initially service was good but went downhill and we were just left after eating the main course and had to call out to a waitress for more drinks. Got the impression they were getting ready to home despite only being 8.30! Food decent but overpriced. The triple cooked chips are great and the sharing platter was tasty.Lots of items not available on the menu which was very disappointing as the menu isn’t extensive. However I appreciate that it’s a small independent place and I wouldn’t expect a huge menu. Choice of two desserts so didn’t bother as neither sounded that appealing to me Food is presented very well.
I think this is a great lunchtime place to visit but for me not somewhere I’d visit again for dinner as service was hit and miss seating uncomfortable and food overpriced for what it is.

We attended as a group of 8 where we'd pre-ordered vegan chinese dishes including salt and pepper tofu, crispy beef style tofu, and various other incredible dishes. None of us had tried anything like the crispy tofu before (we even had to ask how it was made as we loved it so much!). The service was fantastic and the food was incredible, Anna-Loka has always been one of our favourite places but with the new additions to the food options it's now even more of a favourite for us :)

We decided to try here as one of the party was vegetarian, the food was nice especially the tofu. We then ordered desserts and told the waffles were nice so tried them. When they came they were so hard we couldn't cut into it and hen telling the owner about the dessert he said "oh that's how they are". No money off the bill or an apology for it. Don't get the waffles.

The food was out of this world, some of the tastiest and most satisfying food we have ever had.
I'm not a vegan, though I do have a very controlled diet for health reasons. However, if you aren't vegan either then don't overlook this absolute gem of a restaurant based on that minor detail. You would be missing out on some truly amazing food that is not only delicious but full of the good stuff as well.
I had the Krishna Whole Food Bowl, which was sensational. A generously portioned dish that is bursting with flavour in every mouthful.
My partner (who is vegan) was blown away with the Cali Breakfast (she also had the Rodeo Burger when we returned a couple of days later that she also loved - I stuck with the Krishna Mighty Bowl again).
The service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming and an all round pleasant atmosphere. My sincerest compliments to the chef and the waiting staff. They have a wonderful little place in Anna Loka.
My only issue is why did it take so long for us to discover this place?!
A 10/10 and highly recommended. We will certainly be back again.

Pre-lock down this was one of the best place in Cardiff to eat. It has changed hands and is now awful.
I ordered a burger which cost £14.
No way was this worth £14.
The bun was a basic bread roll.
The presentation was terrible.
The filling was meagre.
I feel bad for not mentioning this at the time.
I have had better vegan burgers for £9 and this was not worth £9.

I have been a vegan for only a month and vegetarian for six years. The food we had today was beyond exceptional.
The flavours were incredibly intense, and the freshest ingredients I can ever recall eating.
I had the ‘doner kebab’ bowl and was blown away. The nacho cheese (vegan of course) was mindblowing.
This is under the new ownership of Aaron and not only had he ensured continuation of the standards of the previous owner but has bettered them.
I want to come back tonight, it’s that nice.
Incredibly warm welcome, stunning artwork on the walls, cannot recommend enough.

We were 4 people who went for dinner, we have ordered soup, nachos, two burgers, and curry. The nachos were brilliant, the only criticise need more sauce on top. I had the special new burger that was not on the menu and was recommended by the manager. I can't believe the taste and matching of the homemade sauce are perfect. I am not a big fan of curry, so I didn't taste it but my friend loves it. The staff were very friendly and show up whenever we need them. Overall is 4.5*, always a little to improve. Definitely will revisit again.

Awful place, if I could give it 0 I could……when we arrived the dishes were still on the table from lunch time customers, it was grubby & very dirty. I did notice there was no hygiene rating sticker in the window as we went in.
I didn’t leave because I was in a family group who were keen to stay. We ordered the food & unfortunately while we eating the food hygiene inspector arrived & give the owner manager a telling off for not having the hygiene rating sticker clearly displayed. We soon discovered they have a hygiene rating of 2!
We were the first customers of the evening & the toilet was disgusting as well as the restaurant kitchen & back of the restaurant leading to the garden.
We soon discovered that this restaurant is no longer run by Adam the old owner but has been bought out by a new manager owner.
There were plenty of staff, just hanging around waiting for customers so why this place isn’t clean I have no idea, as they could clean while they waiting for customers.
What a shame to see a good business built by Adam now in this state of poor hygiene. 🤢

This is the 2nd time we've had a family meal here and it was great once again. Both meals have been for birthday treats, but you could come here on a regular basis. Good choice of meals, friendly staff and the atmosphere was relaxed. Great to be able to choose anything from the menu without having to check the ingredients! Thanks! We will be back!

Visited as a party and had the vegan Chinese menu and were very impressed with the generous amount and lovely quality of the food.
It was obvious that lots of care had been put into it.
The starters were dumplings with dips, which were delicious. We then had a Chinese style curry full of beautifully done mushrooms, really tasty crispy tofu and very tasty rice and vegetable dishes.
It is good to find a place that produces wholly vegan Chinese style meals that would not be out of place in a good Chinese restaurant.
The service was good, staff pleasant and attentive and prices reasonable. We could bring our own drinks too.
We will definitely come again.

We timed our lunchtime visit well, and were able to secure a table for 3. By the time we left the place was full, and it was easy to see why.
I had the Arabian bowl, my partner the Ultimate Burger and his mother the vegan breakfast. All were a success, but the Arabian bowl is a standout, with so many delicious flavours and textures all in one bowl.
The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. We'll be going back.
