Menu was different to than on website. Waited 10 minutes before even our drink orders were taken. Waiter came to take our order before a table which had been seated before us. Starter arrived before drinks arrived. Asked for burger to have cheese on it and it didn't. When mains arrived we asked for BBQ sauce and it did not... More

I will normally view a restaurants menu before visiting to see if there is anything I would enjoy ordering. I looked up John Henry's menu and thought it looked great! I was highly disappointed when I arrived and realised the menu I was seated with was nothing similar to the one on their website. After querying it, I was told... More

On entry we were greeted with the smell of the wood fire oven, which was lovely. It was quite quiet and chilled out when we got there so managed to get a good table! We got the Renoir Pizza Crusts for starters and it was fantastic! Then 2 pizzas for our mains along with some beer and wine. We didn't... More

Friendly staff. Tasty pasta dish with chicken and pesto. Excellent dessert and coffee selection. Far superior to Maggie Mays which is on the same road. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Our dining experience in John Henry was very good! There are quite a few "traditional bbq" restaurants in the city now but they all seem to serve up the same generic dishes. Thankfully this is not the case with John Henry, the mixed tray was excellent!

Visited here whilst staying in the area. I had what must have been the largest meal they do. More about quantity than quality. The meal was served in a large metal tray with all the food I had ordered piled up, very overpowering to look at. I thought how am I going to get through that lot. I didn't I... More

Went looking for something different to eat out with the family on a Friday evening. As the Sakura was very busy, we crossed the Botanic Ave to this place and although the food was simple and quick, it was very well prepared, tasty and served. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Description
John Henry set out from his home in Richhill, Armagh in 1889 seeking adventure and discovery in America. Travelling from town to frontier town finding work where he could, he discovered the brave flavour traditions of the wild west and the joy of outdoor living and cooking. He collected these skills and recorded in his journal, recipes and methods for everything from wood firing meat to making fresh lemonade. In 1896 he returned, bringing this knowledge home with him and passing it down through the generations. Today, we use the same original Spice Mixes and Blends in our Pulled Pork, Bourbon Beef, Mixed Meats and our extra special Veggi Chilli. Why not come down and sample some wood-fired slow cooked pork ribs, or crispy-roast chicken, served with our secret family sauces and a range of Super Food sides?
