Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Oakley Fayre has been around as long as I can remember. I have many fond childhood memories of this place. It has always been really good whether it’s bakery, breakfast, lunch and now on occasion even dinner nights with byob, it is always first...class food and service. Highly recommendMore

We visited this cafe several years ago while we were in Ireland on holiday, now that we live here we decided to call in again while we were passing through on a day trip. The menu offers plenty of choice without being overwhelming. Great value...for money, comfortable setting and the staff all very welcoming. will certainly visit again.More

This cafe is lovely and is clearly very popular. The soup was very tasty and to be recommended. The tea very weak for most tastes. However there were no scones available when we visited, despite it being their speciality. Price was good. Service friendly and...effectiveMore

We choose this restaurant mainly because it appeared to be the only one in Downpatrick which opened at 08:00. However it doesn’t open till 9, but we were running behind time and it wasn’t a big issue to wait a few minutes. Pleasant staff, good...service, freshly cooked breakfast on the table in a short time.More

Best soup and sandwich combo: vegetable broth and Brie with peppers and pesto. Lovely warming and tasty. Treat yourself.

This little gem achieved a 'Taste of Ulster' food award last year and it's easy to see why. Friendly staff, good food at a reasonable price. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Well worth a visit.

We found this charming deli and cafe as we passed through the small town of Downpatrick. There where many choices for lunch (including items for my vegan friend), I had a stuffed potato which was much better than i expected, Everything was fresh, tasty and...well prepared. If you are in this area, this is a great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea.. They also have baked goods, jams, jellies, coffee and more.More

Great value meals including great soups. Also tasty buns and cakes. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. I can remember going to this place for strawberry milkshake and sausage rolls, when I was a young boy 40 years ago!!

Had a lovely morning tea at Oakley Fayre, the service was warm and friendly and prompt and there was a good variety of cakes and pastries. Tea was served just the way I liked, would definitely return again.

I am humbled by how friendly the staff are. I visit with my father on a near weekly basis and the staff are the reason we always come back. My father suffers from a motor neurone condition and has anxiety about going out. However, he...always wants to go to the Oakley Fayre. There are good vegan options which I am so pleased by. I visited a year or more ago and they didn't have vegan options but now they do! And they're delicious (the veggie rolls in particular). I'm shocked that there are sub par reviews on here. We are consistently greeted with excellent, caring customer service.More

Had coffee and cake which was great. The cafe has not changed in 10 years at least, needs overhauling. The so called music is dated boring and of ridiculously poor quality. Sitting near the door which groaned beyond belief each time it was opened. Next...door sells WD40 you should buy some. They have a window sign Make it Local. I suggest you make it better. Of all the staff on duty none smiled even when I was most polite and smiling at them. The looked seriously bored with their job. Went to pay at the counter where the server made me feel invisible by staring in the till whilst I was paying never lifting her head or looking anywhere near me. Oakley Fayre you are not alone as many Downpatrick offer a similar second rate experience. Have you ever considered customer care training?. Surprise surprise nothing has changed for the better since I last visited on 2009. Any possibility you will take on board customer reviews even if you don’t like them.More

Best place to eat for a friendly family run cafe, the staff are always helpful and friendly. Immediately put at ease in comfortable surroundings. Great choice of food including gluten free options if required. Nothing is a bother if you have a fickle eater. Would...definitely recommend as a reliable consistent place to eat.More
