In May 2015, Great Jones Craft and Kitchen made it’s debut in the seaside town of Newcastle, bringing a fresh and exciting spin to the restaurant scene in the town, delivering a casual dining experience with a focus on quality and style. A carefully crafted menu has been designed to deliver the best in modern Irish cuisine with an innovative twist on classic dishes. A fantastic collection of craft beers from around Ireland, Britain and both sides of Lake Atlantic with New York flair put on a cocktail menu designed with everyone’s tastes in mind. Working with local suppliers to ensure a quality product is delivered is a key part of Great Jones ethos. Great Jones Craft & Kitchen is named after a street in New York City where owners Sean Paul and Lorena have spent over a decade molding their skills in the hospitality industry. Superb Lunch at a price you can afford.

Was recommended this restaurant by the owners sister who overheard me saying l was looking for somewhere to have lunch. My husband and brother had Haddock, chips and mushy peas and l had the Chicken piri piri salad. I have to say ,it was absolutely delicious and good size serving. The fish and chips were freshly cooked, in fact the fish burnt my husbands tongue a bit🤣. I didn't catch the waiter's name but he was very polite and friendly. If you're looking for a tasty lunch at a reasonable price try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

Great restaurant!

Great wee restaurant. Went for tea and food their early bird special at £18.50 which was 2 courses. I had carrot and lentil soup and my husband had squid...both were excellent. I had wild mushroom risotto for main and added prawns, my husband had the burger. Food was fantastic, service was great and very enjoyable meal. It cost around 60 quid which was bottle of wine and a pint. It was disappointing that when paying they did not allow to add extra to bill to include a tip which was deserved by waitress.

Perfectly cooked steaks and excellent seafood linguine on St Patrick’s Day evening

We had booked online for 8pm on St Patrick’s Day. Lovely ambience and the food came reasonably promptly. I ordered the sirloin medium rare, my daughter the same but medium, my wife ordered the Seafood Linguine. All the dishes were perfectly cooked, the steaks especially. My wife really enjoyed the Seafood Linguine, saying it was the best she had ever tasted.

Incredible 5 star food, warm friendly staff

On Saturday my mum, cousin and myself were trekking 22miles in the mournes for charity. We booked dinner for 8 but after a 9am start the group wasn’t finished until 7 so we called and asked for a reservation to be pushed to 9 and they were so accommodating! When we got there almost every table was full and it was cozy and a lovely energy. We got served right away and we all ordered mains. The food was not only beautifully presented but it was absolutely packed with flavour, Faultless! Definitely somewhere that makes you want to come back and try everything on the menu! Staff were attentive and friendly and could tell we were exhausted! Will definitely be back with my husband whenever I get a chance!

The waiter recommended going for the goat’s cheese & beetroot for starter. It was beautiful. For main course I went for the seafood linguine. Lovely flavours. Server was on point. Worth a visit and won’t cost a fortune.

My daughter and I frequent great Jones about once a month for a treat and every time our meals/ drinks & service are beyond excellent. I love the Cajun fish tacos- fresh juicy fish, great flavour and great portions! My daughter gets the chicken Goujons and she highly rates them (a very picky eater.) Service is always quick & friendly. Perfect :) An excellent choice every single time

It was my third time visiting this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. A popular place was booked a few weeks in advance. The menu has a mix of fish, chicken and beef with the bonus of a separate vegetarian menu. We had pork tacos to share between 2, portions were quite generous and the brusetta all was delicious. For mains fish special was sea bass, steak, chicken and pasta. Everyone enjoyed their mains. Well presented and very tasty. Service is efficient and friendly and the drinks menu is extensive with a great cocktail list. We were too full for deserts but the ones we saw looked fabulous. Recommend this restaurant

Mid week dinner in Newcastle, food was very tasty and so fresh. Best meal we’ve probably had out in a while. The prawn and beef laksa curry was delicious and the beef so tender, probably could’ve went easier on the coriander though! Will definitely be returning, staff were also accommodating and pleasant.

From entering to leaving you feel welcomed by the staff. The food the beer and the cocktails all perfect. We were left wanting for nothing. The staff while very attentive, were not over at you every two minutes. Which always makes your dining experience so much nicer. 25% off your bill on a Thursday evening on everything makes this even more tempting. Five stars from us.

Took my mum and dad and 3 daughters to Great Jones the place was busy which is always a great sign. Staff were very friendly accommodating and good at what they do which makes the experience all the better. The food was amazing I had a Korean chicken burger and the taste was unreal such a treat so glad I chose it. The kids meals were fantastic and they all cleaned the plates. We will definitely be back as I doubt there is a better restaurant in Newcastle maybe even the whole of the Mournes. Thank you very much

Fantastic hen party meal

Visited Great Jones on 26th March for my friend’s hen party. I had arranged group booking for 18 people in advance. Sean and Lorena were extremely accommodating and discussed menu options in advance. We chose from a set menu which had a fantastic choice and the food on the night was great. Lovely cocktail menu also. The staff at Great Jones were very friendly- our waiters were Andrew and another guy who’s name I unfortunately didn’t get. They made us all feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend Great Jones - the food and service were amazing. Will be back!

6 of us showed here without a reservation on Sunday and it was no problem, they stored a pram for us in the store room and all staff were polite and friendly, even interacting with the children. They do a 2 course special but you have to ask for the menu as they only give you the normal menu and the 2 course is far better value as its most of the same things. The wing starter was beautiful and there was so many wings and the chicken roast dinner was absolutely faultless, every single thing on the plate was beautiful. We will definitely be back

Went to Great Jones last week , Saturday night 8pm table . The restaurant was heaving . Buzzing , clinking , celebrating !! What a place . Table ready . Super polite staff took my coat and hung it for me . Nice touch . Now I’m going to talk about my meal . I had seafood linguine . I’ve had this dish a number of times but it’s been tweaked -the flavour of the sauce was complex, aromatic, herb infused . The taste within my mouth I can’t get it out of my mind . I can’t wait to go back . Michelin star cooking !! Washed down with refreshing gin cocktail -exquisite . Beautifully presented . Attentive staff kept us topped up with chilled water and Rioja for the rest of the party . It was a memorable dish . Truly exceptional . Well done all .

Great Jones Lunch!

This is the 3rd time we have visited and it never disappoints. The food is so light and fresh, my husband loved the waffles and fish tacos over the summer. This time he had the chefs burger. Very impressed. In a new world were everything tastes fried. Great Jones does not. I just love the steak sandwich, so tasty, comes with mushrooms, tobacco onions and a delicious caramelised ciabatta. I order a medium steak and was cooked to perfection. My two young boys both had the children’s meals and finished them with delight. We will undoubtedly be back, a family favourite.

Had the most beautiful dinner last night! Fantastic staff, very attentive and good craic, will deffo be back! Hubby had the ginger chicken I will deffo be going for this next time! Only one negative I have to say is the Caesar salad at 9.50 is overpriced for what you get! Didn't bother me just wouldn't get it again!
