Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We called into this pub to get a drink and a bite to eat The food was excellent. Way better that we were expecting and reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and friendly They had a good menu with one of the best food allergens guides that I have seen Made picking something to eat that much easier I will definitely be back

We visited this pub for a lunch and while from the ouside it felt like a small pub, it was surprisingly huge when we entered & were asked to step in to the rear side to eat. The outside sitting was quite spacious and we got to sit on the edge with the beautiful views. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The whole reason for this review of mine is their Spiced Chickpea burger - what a delight this is for vegetarian people, I absolutely loved it and only if I could eat more, would have had a second one too. It's a must try if you are vegetarian.

Went Sunday 26th November 2023 ,four of us We had Sunday lunch. We enjoyed the meal but informed the girl who served us that the meals could have been warmer. The young girl took this criticism very well and said that they need to know these things, having said that we told her, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The young girl who served us was a very pleasant young girl ,I believe she would of been the youngest server on ,as I did not ask her name,my daughter spoke to her at the bar while she was on a break. Keep up the good work,it is nice to be nice Thank you Cheers Chris Bleary Portadown

Visited the rocking chair, went up stairs for food place looked bland enough. I noticed a gentleman and lady arguing with bar staff over pricing mistakes can be made of course. I ordered the philly cheese steak well in was very poor the texture of food was like eating rubber, my son got a burger that you could bounce of a wall and it would not fall apart. Went to pay and was charged for 2 bottles of cider and 2 glasses of wine which we never ordered this is one place I never step foot in again ever.

We loved our visits to The Rocking Chair as we stayed at the Maldron Hotel. We met a very special and kind bartender. He was so professional, wonderfully friendly and willing to share information about the extraordinary walled city of Derry. This was one of our favorite bar/pub in Northern Ireland. It’s hospitality, variety of gathering spaces and view from the patio is by far the best place to meet a friend and enjoy some time together.

Popped in for a quick beer, stayed for three. Thank you Noel for a great afternoon, people look out for him, and if he has time get him chatting about his great city. This pub is handling our strange times very well, the Guinness was top drawer and served by a top chap. Having worked in bars for many years and drunk in them for longer, I know a good barman when I see one.

Came here for lunch whilst visiting Derry for the day. Staff friendly enough food and drinks were really good although disappointed they didn’t have any strawberry daiquiris! The Philly cheesesteak was amazing though and would definitely go back. Lots to choose from on the menu.

My husband and I have been here several times in our short stay in Derry. Staff and customers very welcoming. The food has been first class. A great variety offered and caters for food allergies. We will definitely come here again.

We took advice from our Daughter to go here for lunch, Friday. Place was quiet but it was slightly later, a few came in after us. Made to feel welcome, lunch was served in the lounge at the back. Service was great and staff were friendly and took time to have a chat when we came in Had a Guinness as a starter and it was a great pint. Food was fantastic, we really enjoyed it and will be back. I've heard Sunday lunch, served up stairs, is excellent as well.

We were there tonight. The two bar staff/servers were great! 'The food was great especially the Korean chicken tacos. Unfortunately they allowed people to vape in the dining room who weren't there for dinner but for drinks. They were vaping around a child around 2years old. Disappointed that this was allowed. Not one of the staff said anything to them even though they had a full dining room.

This is my favourite pub on Waterloo Street in Derry. The food is far better than your typical pub cuisine. The staff are top notch. The live music on the weekends is really good as well. Five stars!

Had a really tasty meal here (Korean chicken). The staff were very attentive especially Oisin. The Guinness 0.0 (alcohol free) is as creamy a pint as any regular Guinness I have tasted. Better than most even! Definitely recommend The Rocking Chair.

I stayed at the nearby hotel "Maldron" which in itself is a great hotel. Rocking Chair pub/bar is a very short walk from the hotel, at the top of Waterloo Street and right next to the historic Derry City Wall. I had already eaten, so what I had was several rounds of great beer. The atmosphere is very inviting and the bartenders are very friendly. Definitely recommend to add to the "places to visit" during a Derry stay.

Friendly staff, excellent food and a good location in Londonderry. We had to wait a bit but it is understandable as it was really packed. Besides, the time went by quick sipping their excellent beer and listening to the band playing downstairs.
