Really enjoyed our visit to the old Kirk in Fordyce. I had the excellent langoustine and monkfish skewers, best way i can describe it is that it felt like a real treat, which it was. Make sure you try the homemade double cream custard with...a dessert, another treat.More

The Old Kirk bistro is in a gorgeous little village. The building is absolutely lovely, and inside wonderfully quirkily decorated. Had a beautiful meal, which we pre-ordered when we booked. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The owner chatted with us for a...while and made sure we were well taken care of. I will definitely be returning!More

We were excited to book lunch on the day they opened for the 2024 season.🤗 The seafood is so fresh and delicious, perfectly prepared with excellent friendly service. Their calamari is always great with its light batter. The monkfish is amazing and the prawns are...just right. Another highlight is the trio of truffles for afters...oh my goodness. 😋More

This is an excellent resturant. Great food, warm welcome and homely. The food is very fresh, well presented and delicious. The setting is idyllic and you have the option to eat in the main building or the cabins in the garden. Great place to go...if you are staying in the areas around Portsoy, Cullen and Buckie. We highly recommend it .More

Lovely little bistro. You have to pre book and pre order as everything is local and fresh and there is a small number of tables. The food quality is amazing and everything is sourced locally or Scotland at a minimum unless not possible. The seafood...is amazing and bought from a fish monger just 5 minutes down the road. We watched them catch fish this morning then came here and ate it in the evening. The owners are very hospitable and friendly and everything is very reasonably priced considering the quality. Service is excellent. The seafood as mentioned is bought from a fishmonger just down the road and they proudly have a certificate displayed confirming that they are a buyer of first fish sale (meaning they buy from the fisherman's last haul in the morning to serve that evening, they can also name the mongers and the boats which is impressive!) It's BYOB which works well as well. If you are in the area or planning to be in the area please give them a call and pre-book a seat!! TL/DR amazing local produce lovely hosts and amazing prices.More

We found this place by accident and we are really glad we did! We received a warm welcome and it is such a lovely place inside, very cosy. The food is lovely, mainly seafood, all locally fresh. We had fish skewers, and also battered fish...and chips. The batter was thin and fluffy and crisp, perfectly cooked. Lovely chips and salad too! Really nice setting. Would highly recommendMore

We have been going to the old Kirk for over 4 years now and the food is as good today as the first time we went. The fish is all locally sourced directly from the fishermen so the quality is better than anything you will...have unless you have caught and cooked a fish yourself. The place is comfortable and homely. If you love fish pay the place a visit you won’t be disappointedMore

Good food, good service, good value. Just one suggestion.....homemade bread with the meal would be a good idea as portions are on the small side.

Thanks for your review. I wished you had asked for some homemade bread on your visit as we would have been more than happy to have provided this or extra homemade chips.

What a find! Fordyce is the most quaint and interesting little village and this bistro is fabulous. We had to pre-order food a few days beforehand which meant service was slick with minimal waiting. I had 1/2 lobster which was faultlessly presented and tasted divine....Lovely atmosphere and loved the quirky decor. Alison is super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her. Food as it should be done - seasonal, local and 100% delicious! And a wander round this pretty village is highly recommended too! Will definitely be back - thank you.More

What an amazing evening!!!! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like special guests even though there were others enjoying the ambiance and making their only special memories. As we had pre-ordered our dinner meals we didn't have to wait long for...service to our table. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious!! All 4 of us enjoyed every morsel.
