Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Highly recommend. My 8 year old is coeliac and was delighted to see a separate gluten free menu and staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Couldn't fault anything today. Service was great and food lovely.

I’ve been travelling a great deal recently and in most hotels you can order a burger, that in my opinion is no better the one you would get from a McDonald’s! You need not worry about that if you order a burger at Roo’s Leap....I ordered the ‘Blu Steel’ Burger and without doubt this has been the best burger I have tasted in many years. The service was very good with all staff friendly and helpful.More

What a Fabulous Venue for Food, Service & Ambience. A Special treat for my Birthday - it proved to be a great evening out. The staff I believe went over & above in their attentiveness. The choice of food superb & compliments to the Chef...& team on the food presentation & food flavours 10/10.More

Brilliant restaurant and our waiter James is awesome. Really helped by putting birthday card out for Mother-in-law and making it a great night. Well done, food brilliant.

Came here as saw they had an extensive gluten free menu and wasn't disappointed! I had three course - chicken wings, chicken burger and then small sundae. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Only a couple of gripes - on the menu it says...the burger comes with coleslaw but when it came, it didn't have any so I asked and the waitress said 'oh yeah, not anymore.' So I paid extra for coleslaw. This is disappointing and menus should be updated to reflect this. Same with my dessert, it said it would come with a cadburys flake, and again, no flake. The gluten free menu was great for starters and mains but the desserts are really lacking, I noticed Eton mess on the main dessert menu which wasn't on the GF menu which I thought was really strange as this is usually naturally gluten fre! Would definitely be back.More

Lovely place to eat - we ate here twice. Staff very attentive. Large portions and well cooked food. Can get a little noisy at times. Always seemed busy.

We ate here for son’s 15th birthday! Each one of the four main courses we ordered was tasty, well presented with great portion sizes. We just about managed to leave room for dessert. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. We didn’t have to call her...to ask for anything, she checked in regularly and made sure our water and drinks were always topped up. We were thrilled with the good food and service. We are already looking forward to our next visit!More

A very busy social hub of Montrose, it seems to be booked solidly even on random week nights. We stayed nearby and intended to go to eat somewhere else, but tiredness and convenience (plus great reviews) encouraged us to try it. Staff were very friendly...and polite, fairly quick to take orders with drinks coming quickly. Our starters were yummy, although how spicy my food ended up being was a bit of a shock! We had potato skins and chicken wings which were both really good, portions were HUGE! Definitely didn’t need starters once mains came out. My pasta dish was delicious but wow I think I only managed half. It’s a very nice place to eat but definitely aimed less as a quiet romantic location to a loud family style location l.More

Fantastic food and beer (and cocktails / margaritas!). Over the years (lots of years, since the 80s) this restuarant has been up and down with regards to food and quality. Right now, its by far the best its ever been. The food is consistently good,...the attention to detail of the staff is always spot on. Drinks are never far away, but you never feel harassed either. It really is done well. Best restaurant in Montrose by far.More

Came for an early dinner, booked for 1630 on Saturday. It was very busy with lots of families, which was fine as we were also with our 3 Yr old. The service was very slow, with our mains taking about 50 minutes to come out....We ended up snacking on bread which filled us up. The bread called itself sourdough but was just a malted loaf. I ordered a steak and Thai salad which was pretty tasty, the steak was nicely cooked to medium rare as requested. My husband had the steak santa fe which he said was average and the sauce was overpowering and a bit sickly by the end. We also had 6 wings which were nice but small. We had two non alcoholic beers and the whole thing came to £67 which was pretty pricey for some wings, bread, a steak salad and a wrap. We would try somewhere else if passing through Montrose again.More
