This was our first visit here after a number of years and it must be said that, despite refurbishment, it was a disappointment. On arrival the receptionist very offhandedly said our room was not ready without checking who we were nor the room number, not...great for the hospitality industry. In the restaurant for lunch and dinner we were quite uncomfortable at the lack of mask wearing by the waiting and bar staff, only one of whom was wearing an exemption badge. Sanitising tables, chairs etc. after people had left was less than thorough. At dinner our main course was served before our starter. When we went to shower in the morning the shower control was loose and we could not get any water. At breakfast (all staff masked) the full breakfast was really poor, we would suspect all the fried elements had been cooked earlier and were being kept warm so had dried out and were hard. And when I checked the bill when I got home I noted that I had been overcharged for the two beers I had had, I had a pint then a half pint but charged for two pints. On a positive note the lunch and dinner main courses were well cooked and tasty. Regrettably it will be a long time before we visit The George again.More

We had a poor reception when trying to eat at another Inn in Inveraray so called the George at the last minute. They fitted us in (and our dog) with no issues despite the George being busy. Food and service was excellent

Beautiful setting, big open fires, food was lovely and full of flavour and reasonably priced. £40 for 2 mains, 1 desert and 3 drinks.

Managed to get a table for early afternoon as they were full later. Guy explained they were limited due to being short staffed. Arrived on time and seated quickly( although very near other diners). Starters of liver parfait and goat cheese were ok. Main course...of fish and chips were a let down. Fish dripping in grease and obviously from a freezer and chips rock hard, they looked like the last from a bag of frozen chips. Staff were nice and friendly. Probably won’t hurry back as not as good as previous visitsMore

We booked this restaurant, which is highly recommended because it gets very busy. We arrived on time and went to get our table, the woman at the desk never even acknowledged us and carried on looking at the laptop where she was sorting another party...out, then she just went and sat them down, came back and still no apology, very rude and it ruined the start of the night. The pub was very busy, but the service was very good and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. I had the beef cheeks, which were excellent and tender, highly recommended, my partner had the quiche with chips and salad, this was also very good and tasty. Lovely old pub with great food and drink, just the woman at front of house needs to learn some manners.More

Visited during week’s stay around Argyll & Bute. Old atmospheric, characterful bar/restaurant (rooms also) – very pleasant if a little dark, as such places tend to be. Serving food in the afternoon when alternative in Inverary was not, so quite busy. Very nice food including...tasty, good value Beef Cheek dish. Specials tried by others were also very good. Good Loch Fyne ales. Friendly service but a little rushed due to being busy and short-staffed, and so a little slow at times. Would recommend a try.More

We ate at the George two nights on the trot... Booking really recommended... The staff were very friendly and engaging. The service was sharp. The wine list included some of our fav wines from the Bekka Valley in the Lebanon which was such a bonus.......The marinated lamb chops on the specials board are not to be missedMore

The George was recommended to us by our hosts at Rudha-Na-Craige Guest House and we were not disappointed, charming, efficient and friendly service with good selection of food and drink. Both me and my wife ordered the steak pie and too be honest it was...the best we have ever had, tender pieces of steak melted in our mouths and not a bit of fat or grizzle to be found, perfect! Creme-Brulee was exceptional - highly recommend you give this place a try.More

I don't think so, I have never seen any when I have been, there are very few restaurants here do allow dogs.

Heather, I've not stayed in the apartments myself. I would certainly expect there to be a kettle provided. To be sure, give them a call or an email. I'm sure they won't mind you asking.
