Last night (Thursday) we decided to have a meal out and we decided Coast! We have been here a few times before and loved the atmosphere and the food is great!! The waitresses welcome you as soon as you come through the door and take you to your neatly laid out table where they ask what you would like to drink. The menu here has a large range of different food and their specials are always tempting! My favourite dish is the Fish and chips as the batter on the fish is light and the fish has got a delicious flavour, the chips are triple cooked and are delicious!! They also have a nice selection of desserts. The waitresses are very kind and helpful, i over heard one waitress telling some tourists about the town, info on the ferry and the islands. At the end when they bring the bill they always ask if you liked the meal and start to have a little conversation with you, which i think is nice. This is one of the nicest restaurant in Oban and is defiantly worth having a visit, as i can assure you, it'll be great!!

Just perfect sums it up the food was outstanding half dozen grilled langoustines with garlic butter, halibut with pea & spinach risotto then to finish lemon posset with strawberry & meringue. Portion sizes were ideal fish & rice cooked to perfection I like my rissoto al dente with great balance of flavour. Staff were attentive without being over-bearing and the atmosphere was delightful. If you can get a table you won't regret it this restaurant knows it's clientele.

Coast was recommended by our host, where we were staying. We were not disappointed. Coast upholds Oban's well deserved reputation for excellent fresh sea food. We chose from the reasonably priced set menu: butternut squash starter, haddock and fresh vegetables and locally made ice cream Efficient service

Four of us visited Coast for lunch on Wednesday 12th May 2021. Two of us had the fixed price three course lunch for £20 and two of us ate a la carte working out about £40 each. As you expect for that price the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and quick without being overly solicitous. The menu was very fishy but there were sufficient non-fish options to provide a choice for the non-fish fancier in our party.
Between us we had: mussels, pate, asparagus and scallops to start; then fish & chips, hake and venison for mains; and warm citrus cake, toffee apple cheesecake, lemon curd tart and dark chocolate slice for pudding. It was all gorgeous and I would recommend them all.

We booked this restaurant online after reading reviews & we were not disappointed it was excellent.
The restaurant itself is quite small but very tastefully decorated with a very friendly atmosphere. The staff were all excellent.
The food was amazing as was the service, would highly recommend.

Luckily we had booked for dinner in advance of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme being announced as the restaurant was full and the phone never stopped ringing. Glad we got a table. The welcome was warm and the food was really good. The Husband had mussels to start which he really enjoyed. I enjoyed watching him eat them. He had blade of beef for his main course and I had a generous plate of griddled langoustines served in their shell with new potatoes and salad. I had to work for my dinner but it was worth it. I then enjoyed my lemon posset desert. Great selection of wine by the glass.

Very welcoming on a wet and dismal evening, prompt and cheerful service. We had not been here for some time, and glad the standards are still high- good attention to current health regulations and distancing, although it must be hard to turn customers away!
It surprised us that so few of the recent reviewers chose fish, as it such a great feature of the restaurant to us. The scallop starter was so good, only surpassed by the halibut with risotto which was one of the best dishes we have tasted for a long time.
The cheese eater was impressed at the presentation at room temperature and not icy cold and hard from the fridge- also reasonably priced and not too hefty portions at the end of a meal.
Very impressive all round, hope to return before too long!

I visited this restaurant in a group of four. Although some restrictions were required due to COVID the staff provided us with a warm welcome when we arrived.
Starters of scallops, crab, goats cheese salad and mussels were well presented, tasty and enjoyed. The groups mains of sirloin steaks, lamb and baked haloumi were very nice also. Service was friendly, appropriately attentive and prompt.
Overall a positive experience to a restaurant I’d visit again and would recommend.

Visited on the 1st Sunday after indoor eating allowed. The staff were well prepared and made a real effort in this early efforts to get back to some normality. Our starters - scallops and black pudding / goats cheese were way above the norm and excellent portions. We both ordered the fillet of steak which was perfectly cooked and so tender - no cheap meat here. No room for dessert. We have been travelling round the west coast and this is the best meal we had. The staff were excellent and very attentive.

Seafood cooked to perfection and packed full of flavour. My family and I ate here during our visit to Oban and as a family who love seafood it was well worth booking in advance. Fabulous food, friendly and efficient service, highly recommended.

We visited ‘Coast’ in Oban to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful experience. Beautifully prepared locally sourced ingredients, throw in great customer service and exemplary compliance with the government’s COVID -19 Social Distancing and Cleaning Requirements and it makes for a wonderful and safe dining experience. There are two menu choices, an a la carte and a set menu, which provides a great choice for diners.
My Giga sourced Halibut was one of the best fish dishes I have had for a very long time and my wife loved her sirloin steak which was cooked exactly as requested.
Thank you Richard, Nicola and Leanne for making our anniversary dinner such a a lovely experience, your efforts were very much appreciated by my wife and I, and we will be revisiting you before our break in Oban ends!

This is a busy restaurant and deservedly so. We wanted to dine here during our holiday in the Scottish Highlands, and were booked in for a 6pm seating on a Friday evening. This restaurant is on a main street of Oban and on the Friday evening, the streets were busy. We were lucky to get a parking space close to the restaurant. As soon as we entered the restaurant, it was obvious the care they were taking to be Covid conscious, with sanitising as you enter, all servers wearing visors and masks and tables spaced out. The food was delicious and served quite speedily. As we were expected to finish our meal by 8pm, we felt a bit rushed but comfortably finished our meal well in time! A great menu and very attentive and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Booked Coast and expected a 5 star meal but we were disappointed. Scallops were ok but nothing to write home about. The other starter, fresh crab claw pot with creme fraiche was somewhat light on the crab other than the shell which was not pleasant when crunching on your teeth. When asked if our starters were alright I informed the waitress quietly that there was shell in my crab, her reply "I will tell the chef". At his stage I would have expected some attempt at an apology but none was forthcoming.
We had our mains, one of which was fillet steak, which was thankfully cooked exactly as requested.
Once our meal was finished we were presented with the bill and a comment from the owner that "the crab was prepared on the premises and not in a factory, therefore you can expect a bit of shell just as you would a bone in filleted fish". Still no apology or maybe an offer of a glass of wine on the house, so reluctantly I asked her to remove the price of my starter before settling the bill. she did do this but maintained her very abrupt attitude.
Having run a restaurant myself, I feel a friendly attitude is very important especially when something is not quite right.

We visited Oban last weekend and had dinner at Coast. Firstly, the team at Coast were brilliant and not perturbed by us turning up 45 minutes late due to severe traffic problems, 20 minute taxi journey taking an hour and a half! The Covid set up was good with tables well spaced. My starters of scallops with black pudding was excellent followed by a very nice fillet steak. My wife enjoyed her starter of fresh crab claw pot was also very good but she thought the risotto main slightly under done. The wine list was quite reasonable. Overall a lovely evening and not surprisingly given our late arrival we were last to leave but we will be back! Thank you.

We (two couples) dined here on 22nd July while enjoying a wee staycation in Oban. It was a joy from beginning to end - from the generous complimentary basket of lovely fresh breads to the friendly staff to the perfectly cooked food. We had starters and mains and not a single thing was left on the plates. My husband had the fillet steak and the rest of us opted for roast rump of lamb. We’re still talking about it! Best dining experience in the area by far.
