The people, the view, the setting, the food - it has it all! The walk from the ferry is the perfect length so you feel like you have earnt your coffee, cake and sandwiches (all of which are excellent). But this place is so much...More

Charming little tearoom at the end of a 45-60min walk from the ferry, seating both outdoors and in. Simple but more than effective menu, good portions, excellent cakes and friendly staff. Cash only (which is fine - just good to know!!). If we are back...More

I am old enough to remember when the tea room on Kerrera was also the shop and post office adjacent to the school. Now it's just the Bunkhouse and it's a bit of a walk...but... if you visit one eatery in your life or one...More

Don't miss this if you go to Kerrera. Lovely menu in a great setting. Very generous portions of cake. Would have liked to have tried the savoury food if we'd been there at lunch time.More

The afternoon we visited turned out to be quite warm and, by the time, we'd trekked round the island to reach it, we were hot and bothered and very thirsty, so what a godsend! Lovely tea/coffee and lemon drizzle cake! Also there's a nice loo...More

We have been stopping at this tearoom for several years. We do the longest part of the walk around the island then reward ourselves with a stop here. I can thoroughly recommend the lemon drizzle and the carrot cake.

After walking Kerrera 2 hours anticlockwise we got to the tearoom. Rather lovely sandwich with side salad and cup of tea with some homemade cake. We sat in the barn but you can sit outside. Not a great amount of seating inside. Great service from...More

Thanks a million for your review Susan! I have to agree, anti-clockwise is the right direction to go- less of the uphill struggle to deal with, and indeed a nice reward of lunch after a couple of hours walking. I'm really glad you thought the...More

Set in a stunning location near Gylen Castle on the Isle of Kerrera, the Tea Garden and Bunkhouse is the perfect place to enjoy a nice cup of tea! We are now open 7 days a week from April to September and the menu includes delicious homemade cakes, soups, chutnies and breads with daily specials. Regular ferries depart from Gallanach Road, 1.5M south of Oban. Once on the island, you have a great opportunity to explore the natural, unspoilt beauty of Kerrera. The walk to us takes about 45mins if you choose the route on the left, about 2hrs on the western route, with fabulous views out to Mull and Lismore.

Should you wish to stay longer (and we believe you will!), The Bunkhouse has beds for 7 people. During the summer, we are delighted to offer our lovely new 4m Bell Tent for hire, complete with woodburning stove and double bed, perfect for couples. Our cosy Byre is also available for evening hire, with comfy sofas and large dining table, great for group getaways.

Martin and Aideen Shields, will be delighted to welcome you to their wee slice of paradise! Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any enquiries. It's much appreciated if large groups (7 or more) visiting the Tea Garden call in advance to ensure we bake plenty of cake, bread and scones, thanks!
