We visited on the way to Mull and had the grand platter for two - £35. Too much for us to eat, the scallops are served hot and you get melted butter, sweet chilli and Marie rose sauces. A whole lobster, crab claws, langoustines, prawns, crevettes, roll mop herring, cockles, about a kilo of mussels, unbelievable value and tastes amazing. We came back and had a prawn sandwich which is the best prawn sandwich you will ever taste - great for £3.95. I wish the place was near to wher we live.. the staff are lovely too , you will be served a good portion of mussels in garlic and white wine whilst you wait as a free sample. Highly recommended

Really tasty fresh fish. They only take cash, no card - so make sure you come armed with fist fulls of money, we didn’t realise and were gutted. We managed to scrape enough money together to get a big bowl of freshly cooked mussels to share with the kids (i would have happily eaten one to myself, but as i mentioned, cash poor) they tasted incredible, the staff were all very welcoming and friendly and clearly had a good working relationship with one another. The crabs were delivered when we were there so they let the kids have a look and explained the process of how they’re caught and what happens to them (great for me as i have a son who likes to ask a lot of questions). We will always use from now on when we catch the Oban ferry for our holidays to Mull 😊

We visited on recommendation of our B&B owner. We chose the sharing platter for just under £20, and 3 oysters. The platter was really fresh and tasty, and excellent value for money, the oysters were the best I have tasted, fresh, plump and juicy. If you haven't tried oysters before, and want to, get them from here, at £1 each fantastic value for money. The staff were friendly, and the shared seating added atmosphere with speaking to other diners, its outside so felt covid secure. They also have a washing facility for messy fingers after eating. Only thing missing was a glass of wine.

Had 10 oysters on ice yesterday £9.50 and they were properly chilled. Delicious!! Actually better than EEUSK who charges £1.95 per oyster and they were not chilled enough and were smaller oysters. Been many times and this little green shack is consistently serving great seafood at fantastic prices. Tried the food platters, lobster, crab, scallops, mussels, langostines, salmon etc.

The seafood hut is located by the ferry terminal. After queueing with some young and enthusiastic Chinese people you'll be treated to the best iMHO takeaway seafood at reasonable prices. You can then wait for a seat in the outdoor but under cover seating area or try to find a seat elsewhere to eat your food. The food is rather wonderful though and its worthwhile joining in the fun

Bought a "dressed" crab to take home for tea at £8.50. On opening it up I found two crab claws sitting on tol of what can only be described as a watery, brown mush. No white meat visible at all. Found several bits of shell along with some thick, sinewy material. I have eaten and enjoyed fresh crab from various locations around the UK but this was totally inedible. (see photo) Reading other reviews and it looks like I am not alone. I suspect that the nice, sweet, white meat was kept aside to sell on at a higher premium. Let this be a warning to others who intend patronising this rip off place who seem to be basking in past glories.

Excellent selection of seafood, including a whole lobster, on the grand platter - £35 sounded expensive but really good value for money. Our only reservation would be not with the Seafood Hut but TripAdvisor's designation under "Quick bites" - it is so popular even mid-September & midweek that the queue to order stretched 100 yards and we were waiting 30 minutes before collecting our platter ... but on a sunny day it was worth waiting for!

Absolutely delicious on brown bread, made to order and amazing value. If only we could access this quality seafood in Manchester. If you love seafood you have to visit. The platters looked incredible too, we even got hot steamed mussels to try whilst waiting

We visited here yesterday and they had a, great selection, made to order sandwiches, seafood platters or fresh seafood to take away - we ordered fresh scallops & langostines (£25/kilo) but you get loads. The lovely man that served us provided us with lots of ice to keep our seafood fresh for our journey home. This place is really popular, so do need to queue to be served, but there was a girl cooking fresh mussels in garlic & wine and offering free samples to those waiting in the queue. If you love your seafood, pop by - it's right by the ferry terminal.

Delicious fresh seafood, very friendly gent who kindly provided samples of cooked mussels while we waited. We had oysters followed by hot scallops in garlic butter sauce, while our friends went for the grand seafood platter. All at great prices. Thoroughly recommended!

Every time we come to Oban we buy at the shack..it’s a kind of ritual. But the crab sandwich this time was ok that’s it ,just ok. Clingfilmed and mixed with too much gloop it was hard to recognise the taste or the crab. ..cost £5. Mussels always served in garlic broth,. Platters seem better value but then paying £15 upwards there is only a small crowded undercover bench and table seating area which is not particularly salubrious….however watched oysters being delivered fresh and no doubt other seafood arrives direct Maybe it’s me…I .really want it to be the best, the queues say they think it must be good so it must be me.

Food was lovely but rated a 3 star because disappointed with the number of closed mussels which are inedible. Had taken the platter home to eat so couldn’t take it back unfortunately. Expect a few or more to be this way but they we’re practically all closed (see photo). We did buy a kilo of mussels at the same time to cook at home and they were great so not sure what happened with the platter. I know how busy you are but may be a good idea to check on the mussels before putting them on platter to avoid disappointment. Otherwise all good and would be back (but would check the platter before leaving😊).

A fantastic experience. Great to be sat on the harbour eating freshly caught seafood. Felt very authentic. The mussels were exceptional. The rest of the seafood was good and amazing value. At £34 for the platter to share either a whole lobster, you really couldn’t beat the value

Wonderful seafood. 2 visits during our stay in Oban. We tried the crab sandwich, mussels and the grand platter - all were excellent quality and great value for money. Cards are accepted but the order needs to be £20+. I asked for the grand platter to take away (back to our apartment) and it came nicely wrapped and easy to carry. Friendly staff and quick service - don’t let the queue put you off.

Saw the reviews for this place and thought we'd give it a go. It is as described by others; not much seating but worth it. There was a small queue at 12 noon on a Saturday but we had to eat standing up, which we didn't mind. We had one generous portion of hot mussels, a crab sandwich, 2 oysters and 2 cups of tea for £14. All excellent except the crab sandwich which was strangely lacking in flavour. The oysters were large and very delicious. The mussels were fresh and sweet; utterly delicious!
