First time here for a Sunday breakfast, we liked ordering from the table via the app. The cups for our drinks arrived within 5 mins so we could make a start, we did then seem to wait a very long time for the breakfast itself, my full Scottish was just what I wanted if a little cool. my wife ordered the vegetarian, not so much luck, cold sausages with 2 eggs 1 was super runny the other was very hard and no tomato or mushroom on the plate, it’s all great value but it’s not worth having an unhappy bride.

We stayed one night on our way home from the Scottish Highlands as we have done a couple of years ago. Great value for money and a lovely comfortable well appointed , modern, clean, new room.
The only issue was trying to get a meal on a Saturday evening the restaurant was packed out. The waitress needed some training as she took our order but we had to wait 40mins for our drinks to arrive after chasing it up. The food order we suspected had not been sent to the kitchen as we had over an hours wait. The food was good but my garlic bread was missing and again after chasing up arrived well after I gad finished my meal. The two main meals were refunded but it ruined what what could have been a nice evening, My wife was really brassed off with the chaotic service and stress. Sorry can only rate this as a 3 because of the restaurant shambles.

Me and two friends booked three rooms at the Cross Keys ahead of some mountain biking at Glentress the following day. It was pretty quiet when we arrived (a cold Thursday evening in November) - there are seven rooms above the pub, think we might have got lucky booking them at a quieter time. After checking in, I was surprised to see how big my bedroom was, all very clean and with a large modern shower room. Getting to the room does involve a few stairs and some wonky corridors but not too much trouble. We got a pint from the large selection of beers on tap and had some nice dinner. Pool table at the back, forgot how bad I am at pool. Good service and nice staff. I eventually retired to a very comfortable bed and a good shower the next morning, followed by a tasty cooked breakfast in the restaurant area. On-street parking is minimal on the main road, can only imagine this gets more difficult in peak times. Lovely town and surroundings, ideally located for Glentress and other outdoor activities nearby.

Had a lovely day in Peebles then came here for something to eat. You had to book it on your phone app which suited us okay but may not suit everyone as not all people have phones capable of downloading the app. Luckily we do!!
The staff were friendly enough and surroundings pleasant with both inside and outdoor seating.
The food came not too long after ordering and the food was lovely. When you wanted more drinks then you just tapped on the drinks wanted and it was brought to the table with no problems at all.
The place has a disabled toilet with easy access which was good as otherwise the other main toilets are upstairs.
We had a lovely chilled meal before heading home again.
We didn’t realise till it was pointed out to us that you can stay over here too as they bedrooms. This is always good to know as it’s in perfect location to access the shops, nature walks etc and the rooms look value for money.
I think we would come back for a chilled weekend, staying over and having a wander around Peebles then back to the pub for drinks and of course food.
This place is definitely a little diamond of a find as it’s set off the main high street we had missed knowing it was there at first. But now we know we will look forward to trying out staying a couple nights since it’s closer than the other hotels we usually stay in. A little change is a good thing. 😊

someone needs to let staff know about COVID 19, no track and trace done until I mentioned it when almost finished eating. told to help ourselves to extra coffee from the machine -no wait, we were told to stay in our seats and a member of staff would do that for us, or so we were told on the previous 3 visits, so just couldn't be bothered this time? not happy with same member of staff stuffing her face in front of customers, no hand washing and having such a loud conversation with her colleague (the manager!) that I would class is as shouting and almost got out of my seat to tell her to shut up, I did not want to hear about her private life. then when we were leaving did she reply to our goodbye, no of course not!

Stayed the night and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room (5). The rooms had been refurbished during lockdown and to a very high standard. Beds comfy, plenty room, bathroom spot on with walk in shower and bath as well as being roomy. Secondary glazed window so no noise to disturb. Plenty tea and coffee.
Down stairs in bar area was typical wetherspoons, keeping it looking original as possible but never to busy. Staff were very good and friendly. Garden at the back had plenty seating and plenty seating at the front of the building.
All in all a lovely stay

Placed our order at 10.55 still waiting on our order at 11.40, sat down with our Luke warm coffee to find the table was filthy, we did ask the young girl to please clean it, half an hour later after a 2nd request she did, with a filthy stinking cloth. Breakfast arrived eventually with the fried eggs raw, another 10 minutes wait to have them replaced. Then a cat was allowed to crawl over a nearby table and young waitress clapped and cuddled it then served food without washing her hands. We did get a 2nd coffee free of charge from the gentleman who thinks he has an answer for everything. In his opinion the customer is always wrong. The cost of breakfast has also gone up and the portion is much smaller

We love Weatherspoon pubs so when we were in Peebles we thought that it would be good for lunch.
Sadly we only got drinks despite having two trips to the bar everything we asked for appeared to be not available.
Staff told us only 2 staff were on.
Tables were not cleared everywhere.
So we went to another bar the county Inn which was much better.

First time being to the keys since it reopened and have to say was really disappointed. The food was absolutely terrible! Loaded chips were stale and no flavour at all, the natchos were just one big lump of congealed crisps. Everything else was cold and just lacking any effort at all. Unless they vastly improve on their food and put a bit more care into it and do as advertised serve fresh food then won’t ever be back.

Never got straws with our drinks, very disappointed. Chips were cold, burgers were mixed up (no bun), very frustrating. There was a bite in my friends burger, mildly annoying. Service was good as the waiter was cheery and polite as well as very pleasant to look at. Would come again just for the staff.

Arrived at 12 noon on a Thursday. Thursday is advertised as a speciality curry day. The only issue was that there was no Jalfrezie, Madras or Tilka. Basically no curry available. Wetherspoons at its best, starts with a bang and quickly becomes a damp squib. If it’s any comfort the ham, egg and chips was just about edible

We decided to go for a lunch as it we found it to be a reliable place in the past but were surprised to find the service slow, as we had to wait for 40 minutes minimum for a sub - par lunch (safe to say was not worth the wait.) The cutlery we were provided with was dirty, and if it didn't have any crumbs stuck in to it then they were covered in water marks and stained - not up to the standered we were expecting and used to. the service was nothing but slow, we didn't see a single person of staff until someone came to serve the table next to us (who arrived 20 mins after us and were a bigger party) and when we finally enquired were our food was - we got the dry response of "when it comes down" which we were taken aback by. when our food was finally 'delivered' it was a bit soggy, and tasted as if it had been out sitting for a considerable amout of time but in fairness not the worst we have had. overall we were very disappointed in our experience and won't be back anytime soon or ever.

Went for lunch today. Husband wanted steak pie but there was none despite being only 12.30 on a Saturday. He then chose gammon steak with peppercorn sauce, 20 minutes later the waiter came to say 'no peppercorn sauce'. We waited 40 minutes for our food and everything on my husbands plate was only just warm, so completely cold when he wasn't even half way through it. I had what was meant to be lasagne which was hot but instead of a nice rich herby tomato and mince bolognese sauce it was just like grey mince in layers of pasta with cheese on top. No bechamel sauce either. Garlic bread was good but my portion of chips were cold. I left half the lasagne and nearly all the chips. Trouble is there was hardly any staff around and a queue at the bar with people ordering food and drinks so to return the food to get it reheated we would have had to stand in the queue then wait however long again to get it back. This is the perfect way to lose customers.

This was not a good experience since spoons have left . Abnotious staff and lack of proper ales. Food is on then its not on, depending if the chef walks out or not . When food was ordered it was disgusting. Ceasar salad had 3 leaves of lettuce some cubed chicken thrown on top and a greasy sauce on top ...no salad parts on it. Avoid this place like the plague . The staff on duty never cleaned any tables and dishes were piled up . The manager was ignorant and non plus to any complaints.

Would suggest avoiding for food if our experience is anything to go by. Dropped in for a quick meal on Friday 8th November. Left with a fairly low opinion.
On a positive, the chips were pretty nice, and the burger I ordered was also reasonable fayre.
My brother however is Gluten Free so was limited for choice, however there are a couple of options on the menu so all good.
Opted for the chicken and chorizo dish at £14. A bit steep, but hey ho.
Poorest GF plate we have seen in a long time.
1 chorizo "link" sausage butterflied and heated up somehow, made it so hard it was stiff to cut and not edible. Atop this was a small chicken breast with a topping that made it taste like washing up liquid (we both had a go at it). These were both outdone by a "mango and pepper salad" which was unappetising mush. I'm not convinced the mango had seen daylight in 2024 - more probably the inside of a freezer cabinet.
When paying at the bar, I mentioned that this dish was truly awful. Basically got ignored and simply told that's thirty five quid please.
Hopefully this gets read and the owners can consider upping the game?
