Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Before entering this cafe we wanted sustenance for our journey back to the Midlands. Upon entry we could see it was bright and cheery, clean with a friendly greeting. Despite only a simple order of a bacon roll and drinks we enjoyed very much plus it was good value too. We had a conversation with the lady who served us and she explained their ethos of how their establishment will help to preserve the high street.

There are many cafes in Dumfries but this is my favourite, warm and welcoming atmosphere with very engaging staff. The food is delicious and different love the soups and stews, scones are good too. Very relaxing place that welcomes dogs and children a great place to view the town centre.

safe to say the Roll and Sausage and hot drink for £4.75 is great value,
i did plan to take a pic of the food, but like the film, it was gone in 60 seconds,
service is always friendly and the views of the High Street people watching is great too.
if your looking for a great spot in town with a comprehensive menu at great prices, look no further.
fresh daily specials every day too.

Looking for a place for breakfast before continuing our trip to Yorkshire we found The Stove Cafe on the High Street.
We ordered bacon rolls and hot drinks and after just a short wait we were served our freshly cooked breakfast. There was lots of quality bacon and it was crispy - exactly as requested.
Good food, friendly service, and great value.

Had a lovely lunch of toasted sandwiches and drinks all for a very reasonable price of around £5 per person. The staff were all very nice and there was seating outside as well. There was a wide variety of choice for lunch and also for cakes after.

Inexpensive, well run, independent cafe part of the movement to revive our high street. Great coffee and staff are both friendly and attentive. Sandwiches, snacks and lunchtime offers also very competitively priced. A great local haunt well worth the visit.

Staff very polite. I enjoyed a leisurely cappuccino coffee with a brown bread cheese and tomato toastie sitting outside in the unseasonably warm November sunshine. The brown bread for the toastie was of very nice quality. Is a lovely spot in heart of Dumfries. Would definitely go again next time I'm in Dumfries.

Such a friendly place! It's not very often you go to a cafe and get offered free birthday cake! But that's the kind of place the Stove is. A good choice of vegan dishes too. I had the falafel, humus, avocado and siracha toastie with lemon slaw. Delicious!
Not only is the Stove a cafe It's a social hub with an extensive events programme; films with Q & A, arts and history sessions plus regular Climate Kitchens and Repair Shops. And the music's not too loud too.

As George Harrison once sang, 'its been a long and lonely winter', but now The Stove has reopened its doors, 'here comes the sun'.
I can recommend the cheese toasties and the heated haggis and cheese panini, each oozing with lashings of Lockerbie cheddar, delicious.
Also, the onion bhaji and coronation mayonnaise sandwich is a hit. I've also had some of the salad options, which have been great, and very filling.
So, along with the scintillating repartee, it's the place to be!!

The staff here are very warm and welcoming. The food is amazing great value for the quality your receiving. They have adapted well to the current circumstances and there is contactless hand sanitizer placed right at the front door. Would recommend this to anyone if they are in the area.

The coffee is great, even the decaf. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and get the order right, bonus! The seats outside are ideal for watching the world go by, there is usually a friendly dog to pat and some seats are in the shade, which is handy for peely wally types like me. It is just by the Saturday street market and the band playing today were good. I highly recommend this cafe, on the the condition that you don’t all go on the same day as me and leave me without a table ;-)

Just happened upon this cafe, we were looking for somewhere dog friendly and didn’t know this was; we were prepared to sit outside as the weather was great for September but the pooches were both welcomed and we chose to sit indoors at a window table. My husband had the homemade stew and I had the soup, both very tasty. The staff were really friendly and the service was quick. There was a ton of dog treats for the four legged visitors also.

I had lunch with three friends - we are not from Dumfries and we were so lucky to find this by accident. The staff are lovely and we ordered food and drink. Everything was absolutely first class and we will be talking about this for months. The pork stew, falafel wraps, tomato and basil soup and toastie were as good as we have ever tasted. This cafe is a delight.

My daughter and I visited yesterday. It was a very welcoming, dog-friendly café. We ordered a sausage stew and a bacon roll. My daughter’s stew looked (and tasted, according to her) delicious and my bacon roll was very generously filled with bacon. I can’t wait to go back!
