This is a revolting poky hole that may not have changed in shape since the 1700s. It always looks full as there are not many seats and if you are a smoker you get to take a seat in the alley way outside for a puff.

My wife and I were staying at a local hotel but visited the Globe Inn on an evening for a few drinks. It is a historic little pub and we enjoyed the company of some very friendly locals including one young man playing his acoustic guitar and others sharing their quiz. The young woman behind the bar was equally friendly... More

Visited the Globe Inn slightly off the cuff while in Dumfries and looking for somewhere to get lunch. Had first went in just thinking it was a bar mainly, but seen food was on and it all looked good so gave it a shot. It is typically pub food, but was up to scratch and tasted good with a decent... We visited for a quick drink and look around the rooms. There was desks and bedroom and stables from the old Burns times. A local showed us around. Very nice people.

Billed as one of Robbie Burns favourite drinking establishments and meeting places dating back to 17th century this pub could and should have been kept more in keeping with that period. I'm sure some of the billding is worthy but the bar areas were lacking in character and had little ambience. Beer choice was poor and the bar food looked... More

We attended a Wedding Rehersal Dinner at the Globe Inn and the service was excellent and the food terrific. Dinners are served only by appointment, but after the meal, we were treated to a tour of the Inn, where it is said that Robbie Burns spent a great deal of time. Excellent history of the Inn.

The Globe never disappoints. There's the memorable Burns' bedroom, and the backroom where he once drank, with Jane's unforgettable and hospitable guiding and humorous anecdotes. The food is hearty and wholesome, the bar welcoming, and when there's music inside or out in the courtyard, the Globe comes alive. Whether you go as a family, a couple or solo, the Globe... More

The Globe is Robert Burns favourite inn. The landlady is Jane Brown a lady who has been President of the Robert Burns World Federation. She and the locals will make you very welcome as well as getting a drink you can order great pub grub
