I dropped in here recently for a tea and some cake with my elderly mother. There are several parking spaces for less able customers close to the entrance so that was welcome and I know from a previous visit that the disabled toilet is spacious and easy to access. This was our first use of any hospitality since Covid-19 measures were introduced and I was quite impressed by how well it was organised. The cafe entrance is now separate from the shop and a suitable path has been laid around the outside of the building leading to the garden. There is hand sanitiser to apply and benches and tables are well spaced in the grounds. It was a very sunny day so quite pleasant to sit outside and many were doing so. Each bench/table has a number and you just provide that to staff when ordering inside (mask required). There were a few guests indoors, although again well distanced. Contactless payment. The order was delivered to our bench and we were asked just to leave the dishes on the tray when we finished and it would be collected. Nice pot of tea each and we shared a delicious slice of orange sponge. Staff pleasant and peaceful setting to enjoy our short break.

Went to this wonderful gem of a farm shop and cafe twice during our recent holiday near New Abbey. The food was amazing, plenty of variety and wonderful combinations of ingredients and flavours. The cafe staff were dashing around like whirling dervishes taking orders, serving and cleansing the tables after each customer. Covid procedures were clear and easy to follow. Food was excellent value. I'd thoroughly recommend a visit.

This cafe and shop sells wonderful largely organic produce. It is well organised and you are made to feel safe with the arrangements that they have in place for reducing the risk of spread of the virus. The menu us supplemented by the daily specials. I would highly recommend the pies, baked in a lovely light pastry and coming with a salad they make for a hearty lunch. The cakes are wonderful so remember to leave room for a slice! The shop is a treasure trove of healthy foods, both vegetables and other essential items of food including freshly baked bread. A great experience and worth making a detour for.

We were warmly welcomed on a wet and chilly day, service was polite, efficient and friendly throughout our visit. Covid guidelines are taken very seriously and appear to have become second nature. We both opted for savoury scones which were delicious and served with a small side salad, then shared a cake with coffee, all the food was very good. If we lived nearby this would certainly be a regular place to visit, the farm shop attached is also exceptional.

We stopped off here for lunch and some food shopping. It is a popular place so expect some queuing. Everything is cooked fresh and is home made and as you would expect very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and efficient and service is fast. Travelling from Dalbeattie to Dumfries and you've got to stop off here.

The café and shop is located just off the road between Dumfries and Dalbeattie and has plenty of onsite parking. Accessibility is good for those visitors who are less able. I’m a fairly regular visitor to Dumfries and have side-tracked for lunch a couple of times this year as the food and service is reliably good. Despite the café having a fairly large open plan area it has been busy on both occasions probably testimony to its popularity even in its rural location. On a solo visit earlier this year I shared a large table with a couple of ladies, with their agreement, as there were no other available indoor options and the weather wasn‘t great outside. On that occasion I had a smoked salmon open sandwich served with salad, a flat white coffee and a piece of carrot cake all of which were delicious and cost just over £14. On a more recent visit, accompanied by my wife, we both opted for their chicken and leek pie which was served with new potatoes and vegetables (£8.95). Needless to say we had to have coffee and cake as the coffee is good and there is a tempting selection of cakes on display at the counter. My wife tried an unusual combination of Banana & Chocolate Chip cake (£2.80) and I had Orange cake (£2.60) both of which were tasty. The menu covers breakfast and lunch items with the likes of porridge, cheese omelette and French Toast featuring on the former and soup, sandwiches, burgers, macaroni, homemade pies and quiche on the latter. There is not a large selection but personally I have always found something to suit. In my experience service is with a smile and items are brought to the table in a timely fashion. In better weather there is an option to eat outside in the grounds, a popular choice especially with those accompanied by their dogs as these are not permitted in the café itself. Toilets are clean and it is worth a browse around the shop which has a good selection of organic products. Easy to recommend.

How wonderful to read such a detailed account of your visits to Loch Arthur. Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. It is very encouraging to know that our customers appreciate all the effort we make in all corners of our shop and cafe. We look forward to welcoming you both on your next visit here.

On holiday in the area with another couple visited and stopped for lunch. Firstly the retail shop is just fantastic with a huge range of food from beautiful vedge and salads to meat, poultry, cheese and freshly baked products. Additionally there was a huge range of dry goods, deli products, wine, beers and crafts and eco cleaning products. All seemed very good value in comparison to many farm shops I have visited and consequently we bought quite a lot of things and all proved later to be excellent quality. We also stayed for lunch, it’s popular and you may have a little wait although if you choose to share a table or eat outside then generally you wont have to wait. Staff are pleasant and chatty while waiting to seat you. Our lunch was absolutely delicious and all freshly cooked. Some things obviously sell out quickly but this is made clear on the menu board. You may have a little wait for your food at busy times but this is not fast food and you can be reassured it’s worth the wait. All food is sourced in house and all made, cooked and baked on the premises. I thought the food was very good value with lunch for four and including ( delicious) coffee and teas was approx £30. Service was superb. I would certainly visit again and next time we stay self catering in the area we will take the opportunity to stock up on food from here for are stay rather than the supermarket. Finally while you wait for your food or drinks I would take the opportunity to read up on the back of the menu about the ethos of the place which apart from being interesting is also admirable.

Soo glad I’d found a link to local produce and shopping in the visit Scotland website as this farm shop / cafe in Beeswing was mentioned so we headed there after Sweethart Abbey and glad we did. Had to wait 10 mins for table which wasn’t an issue as we could watch the birds in the garden. Nice menu, homemade and fresh and unlike some places that say that this food definitely was. Menu option and specials, most produce local and made in the village etc. Anyway 2 teas, 2 fentimans drinks, 1 large soup n sandwich, 1 special mince round, 1 charcuterie and 1 special blue cheese salad = £41. Shame we didn’t have room for the fresh baked cakes. Afterwards a stroll around the farm shop and a few purchases made. Glad we found out about it, we even saw red kites en route.

What a lovely place for lunch! Tucked at the back of the very well stocked shop, the cafe has lots of seating both inside and out. Lovely menu with daily specials all cooked to order from local ingredients. We had the chicken and asparagus soup, which was hot, thick and very tasty. Served with fresh bread baked on site. Staff were welcoming, attentive and efficient.

Great lunch. Friendly helpful staff. I had a beef mince pie with roast potatoes and veg, my wife had vegan haggis stuffed peppers which she enjoyed and my sister a charcuterie, also enjoyed. We had soft drinks and three coffees. Two o& us had large waffles with maple syrup, really light and tasty. Clean toilets. Great farm shop. Total cost with tip £60, which I thought was great value

Just really shocked to be charged extra for hot water with our tea. I’ve never had this anywhere before and think ‘profit first, customers unimportant’ is not a good attitude to portray. We won’t visit again. Any other cafe would be more than happy to supply hot water to customers who don’t like their tea too strong. Shame

Hello, thanks for giving us the opportunity to respond, I want to assure you that we absolutely don't charge anything at all for extra hot water. We set a very high priority on customer satisfaction and I am extremely sorry that you left so unhappy. It's a shame that you didn't query this at the time when we would have been able to resolve this misunderstanding. I am guessing that you looked at the 'order' ticket which would have been left on your table when your drinks were served - this isn't the bill, merely the list of what has been requested. Staff who take orders at the tables enter the requested items onto the till which prints an order ticket with instructions for the team member making the drinks. I can understand your anger in believing that you had been over charged and I hope that I have been able to explain how the misunderstanding might have happened. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly if you are still unhappy. Helen, Farm Shop Manager.

The first time we went I had a hummus sandwich with soup, the second time I had the hummus sandwich. Their GD & DF bread is delicious. We took a couple of loaves away and my husband who eats everything scoffed it too. The staff were really kind and welcoming - a flavour of their ethos. They are coping well with the C-19 restrictions. Support them please. I want to go back next year :)

The owner of a property we were staying at in Southerness recommended this spot, so we gave it a try. The menu has some amazing veggie & vegan dishes, and they made our coffee & hot chocolate with oat milk too. The shop is amazing too, I could have spent a fortune. I'm so please we received the recomnendation as its definitely worth visiting.
