I quite regularly go to Namaste for lunch and always really enjoy it.
The staff are friendly and have a welcoming kindness. There is usually soothing music playing which creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
I nearly always have the veg thali which is made up of rice, dhal, veg curry, pakora, salad and large naan bread. It's available in various strengths - mild/medium/hot so you can choose what suits you.
I always feel very satisfied after my meal and usually round things off with a cup of delicious Nepali masala chai which I highly recommend.

This spot has been on my to go list since forever. I dined with my mom back in August and it was an unforgettable experience. So unforgettable that I revisited again. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a refreshing glass of water—a thoughtful touch that many other restaurants lack.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the momos. They were exceptional—perfectly steamed, with a delicious savory filling. The service was outstanding. Our server was attentive and guided us through the menu with great recommendations. It felt like a warm, inviting atmosphere where we could truly relax and enjoy our meal together. The pricing was reasonable for the quality and portion sizes we received. We ordered enough for both of us and still had leftovers to take home—definitely a win!

The food and service were all great and veg momo were amazing. We were out for a birthday meal for my adult son and although the restaurant didn't know they must have noticed the pressies. After our meal was finished they brought a complimentary plate of dessert and icecream. Very thoughtful.

Fab restaurant - food was lovely and plentiful. Great location and close to loads of bars and places of interest. Staff very friendly and our meal was good value for money "though" a few more rice options would have been appreciated but there were enough to choose from

We had booked a table for 6 people and, despite the restaurant being very busy, we only had to wait a few minutes to be shown to our table.
The service was excellent and we were served promptly for starters, mains and drinks. We ordered a variety of starters and mains and everyone was delighted with all of the food we were served.
Finally, the place had a great, buzzing atmosphere and the prices were very reasonable.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Disappointed. The food was average, but of no higher standard than a microwaveable meal from a supermarket. My wife’s Dhal was utterly bland. My Lamb Rogan Josh was very average. The Peshwari Nan was oily and dull. The prices on the menu are considerably higher than those listed on the website. This is unacceptable and a misrepresentation. I won’t be going back, even though I live within walking distance.

Mid evening meal, busy but not excessively. Service very polite and flat breads very good. However on paying remium rate for an indian trestaurant the main point is to recive a delicious curry, which this was not. I do not rush to criticise but the curry tasted like a corner-shop curry sauce jar. Many meals gain approval here, which is good, but some do not as is seen on reviews. Wrong meal, wrong night in our case, no magic factor.

Drinks were forgotten, food was forgotten and when it did arrive after an hour it was really average. Needed a search party for the chicken in my Tikka.
The staff were inattentive and took ages to clear plates. Basically they couldn’t have cared less.
Not at all busy so no excuses.
Notice they only respond to good reviews.

We just popped in here for the lunchtime menu as we were passing by and to say we were surprised would be an understatement. Okay it’s a limited choice at lunchtime but I could not fault any of the food.The lamb chops were astonishing the covering g of spices were intense and very tasty. The lamb madras was one of the best I have ever had anywhere not just Edinburgh and the naan bread freshly made hot and crispy I wish I had also tasted the garlic one.The beer prices are decent for the city centre and actually £1.50 a pint cheaper than the pub next door.The toilets were immaculate and finally the staff were very friendly and smiling all the time we also received a nice message from the chef after passing on our compliments.
I would 100% visit here again and plan to do so very soon.

We called in early on a Saturday afternoon. The welcome could have been friendlier but we ordered and we’re looking forward to our food.
All in all the food was very average quality indeed. My chicken curry didn’t have a huge amount of chicken in it though it was ok.
My wife’s Lamb dish was mostly bone and inedible gristle with barely 4 mouthfuls of actually edible meat. It was pointed out to the waitress but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.
I really wouldn’t visit again

Late night dining after an event at the fringe. The service was good and the food was not bad but nothing exceptional. There are better Indian restaurants in Edinburgh. The worst part was that we were charged £1.50 for a very small onion! That did it for me. Not on my list of restaurants to go back to.

We found Namaste Kathmandu when wondering the streets of Edinburgh looking for some food. Having just completed NC500 and been camping for 5 days straight we were looking for some good value, proper and warming food and that’s exactly what we got at Namaste. We were shown to our table and despite being busy the service was impeccable, we ordered our wine and appetizer and it was with us almost instantly. We started with some poppadoms and pickle selection then for the main we were greeted with warm plates and a Nepalese veggie curry & my partner a lamb curry. Both were rich in flavor and tasted sublime, the kashmiri/ pashwari naans were by far there best I have ever had, crispy and clearly had been handmade in restaurant.
The service from each and every one of the waiters and waitresses was some of the best service we have received in the UK, they were all highly professional, friendly and informative.
The price of the food for what we received was incredibly good value and we will defiantly be coming back when we are next in Edinburgh!

The 4 of us booked for dinner.The starter were delivered with no problem however when the main dish were delivered there was a long delay for the rice & sides as the waitress was distracted by enquiring individual.
The food was getting cold. My friend have to politely interrupted the waiter.
When we were giving the feedback of the situation somehow the waitress could not grasp what we were trying to say.
I must add that the dishes were tasty & the portions were good.

It's too bad as this would have easily been a 5/5 review because the food is off the charts delicious but the service was like 1/5. SO SLOW! I get there is a staffing shortage everywhere, but this was ridiculous. It's also like a sauna inside the restaurant and they have no outdoor seating. We ordered butter chicken , tikka masala, garlic naan, rice and samosas. Everything was delicious when it finally arrived. Waitresses were lovely and polite but seemed to have zero awareness of sense of urgency or customer service. Just doddled around wiping tables, with no skip in their step. Great location for us.
