We visited the restaurant last night, we booked the day before which I’d say is advisable as we saw a number of people trying to get a table and were disappointed. The staff we amazingly welcoming and are an asset to the business, they couldn’t do enough for us. There is an outside seating area with heaters and blankets and an inside area. The wine list isn’t extensive but we had the white and it was perfectly palatable. On to the food…what can I say amazing…we had mixed pakora which was 6 pakoras both meat and vegetable which was great as we were a mixed group. We had butter chicken x 2 and paneer both came with rice and we ordered an extra nann which was huge. The butter chicken was deliciously spiced with a little kick and paneer was delicious.
I would highly recommend this great little restaurant and will definitely visit when I’m next in Edinburgh.
Keep up making delicious food guys and thank you for making out visit so enjoyable.

Food is delicious and satisfying, atmosphere is relaxed and staff were amazing. It’s pro veggie options are full of flavour, with loads of choice and the pricing meant being able to try lots of things.
Massive well done. Could easily be a frequent visitor.

Visited this gorgeous little place this evening. Independent, intimate, friendly and family-run. Food was stunning! We had the chefs choice mixed veg pakoras, palak paneer with roti and spicy chips to share with some homemade dips on the side. Bill came to £24 with 1 beer and 1 soft drink. Everything we ordered was so flavourful! Really special place. Would make it our local if we lived in Edinburgh.

Visited the Pakora Bar for lunch.
Service took quite a long time and there were few people in the restaurant.
Ordered the lamb curry and a drink it was about 15 pounds.
The taste of the curry was great but there was not much meat in the portion so I didn't feel it was good value considering the price.
They also got my side order wrong and so I didn't get my rice till I was nearly finished the curry.

We are regular customers in The Pakora Bar. Literally everything we ate was delicious and very well priced! The owner and staff are very friendly and attentive The portions are generous and it's so hard to stop ourselves from over eating. The food was served fast. Importantly food was very tasty and flavorful . Vegetable samosa and the pakoras are highly recommended. Very well managed for the covid rules .Totally worth it!! 😊

We were so pleased that we visited Pakora on our Trip to Edinburgh. The informal dining area was lovely and we like how the imaginative Covid separating screens had messages on. Brian greeted us and gave us a full run down of the menu and suggested wine to compliment our food choices. The food was presented well and totally delicious, it wasn’t too spicy and good quality. We would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.

The husband and I recently had lunch here and we LOVED every part of it!!
We thought it would be a challenge to find a nice, safe place to eat post-COVid, especially since my husband had decided to become vegan over lockdown, but The Pakora Bar put any fears to rest!
We both ordered some amazing dishes, mixed pakoras, dhal, bread and samosas.
I enjoyed both my meat items and the vegetable ones and was happy that the menu was confidently explained by Brian, identifying vegan items.
The service was attentive and the food arrived in good time. We didn't feel rushed and the whole atmosphere felt very relaxed.
It was an absolute pleasure to eat here and we will definitely be returning soon.

Made a spontaneous trip for dinner to Pakora Bar with the Bestie, and it was a really great decision. The veggie haggis pakora was to die for, the chicken spring rolls and samosa chaat were incredible, and we ended the evening with some chai and pistachio barfi that really hit the spot. We were a bit greedy and over-ordered, but TBH the leftovers (paneer kati) were just as good as a midnight snack as it would have been at the restaurant.
The staff took really good care of us through the evening, our waitress was especially lovely and friendly. Then, after we dropped the takeaway bag right outside the restaurant, two other very lovely staff members came to our rescue and salvaged the (significant amount of) leftovers that were about to spill in the bag. All that to say, thank you so much for a lovely dinner, and you will definitely see us again!

Perfect lunch time bite for the family. The government had announced their eat out to help out and we hadn’t been organised to book somewhere for lunch. However we struck lucky with Pakora. We had the menu explained by the super helpful Brian and considering we all had different appetite levels we ordered chef choice pakora, chicken samosa and lamb burgers. Wow the portion size was great. The flavours were so good and not creamy in the slightest. The mango chilli sauce was very good and there perfect way to top off the food. Hygiene in the restaurant was good considering the climate we are currently in. I was very impressed by the taste of the food and the level of service. A little gem we will visit again when back in Edinburgh.

We discovered this wee place on a visit to Edinburgh. It looked nice and we were welcomed and shown to a table by the owner.
I explained that my wife is allergic to dairy products and he was able to say what was suitable.
The food was delicious, we liked having a choice of sauces with the pakora which we had as a starter
The main courses were really good with a perfect blend of spices.

Myself and my partner visited Edinburgh as part of our staycation trip and had heard great things about The Pakora Bar so decided to visit for quick lunch on a Thursday afternoon before visiting the castle.
We ordered chicken pakora and the lamb samosas with a side of home made mint sauce - the lamb samosas were THE BEST samosa I have ever had. They were generously sized and the filling was amazing. Would highly recommend 👌🏼 The pakora were also very good!!
If visiting Edinburgh I would definitely suggest visiting this place, friendly service and wonderful food in a independent family run business.
Thanks Pakora Bar for making our visit!!

The pakora bar has such a good atmosphere as well as super good food, this was the best meal of our stay. We told them that we were leaving the day after, and our train was early so wouldn’t be able to get some more food, they gave us some pakoras to cook ourselves along with the amazing sauces and onions. Really good service and so thoughtful ! Can’t wait for our next 200 mile trip to Edinburgh purely for the pakora bar food ! Our lovely waitress also recommended a wine and ensured everything was more than satisfactory during our visit.

Nom nom nom nom nom... the Pakora bar was fabulous! Working late in Edinburgh to catch up with my mate who lives there. A random bus conversation recommended this place. It didn’t disappoint. Got the window seat for a pakora mix, lamb samosa and pakora curry to share ( although so moreish... hard to share!) the samosas where samazing lying on a bed of chickpeas with a bit of salad. The pakora mix included paneer, cauliflower, chicken, haggis nom nom. The curry was just the right balance of flavours with an ample portion of rice. Twas a busy place and that buzz n atmosphere emanated through this compact house of Indian street food. Good prices too. We put the world to rights in the Pakora bar and a definite revisit required. A good place for catch ups n good food.. and a mango lassi chaser... pakora star bar

This is a great place for lunch or casual dinner, currently takeaway only. There's a good variety of veggie options and despite the name it's not just pakora - the curries and daal are excellent, and I love the spicy chips too. At £6 for a super tasty daal and rice this has to be one of the best value places to eat in Edinburgh, and it's just a few steps from George Street right in the heart of the New Town.

We have visited the restaurant for sitting in, and the food is amazing atmosphere great, but this weekend they catered for our small family gathering at home, attention to detail was as it is in restaurant. Everyone loved the food. If you can visit I can’t recommend enough, but they do takeaway too, if you can’t visit just now.

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
