Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The owners are rude, lazy people could barely stir themselves to get out coffee, they seem to despise their customers

Nice coffee and scones but the surroundings are currently looking a bit neglected. The bins were overflowing and the resulting litter was spread across the garden. The dog water bowls are dirty and not really cared for.

Great having the facility here - but can I kindly request that the profit on my coffee and kids crepes (very nice thanks) goes on some linseed oil putty and paint for these poor old sash windows.... ?

Went in for a quick lunch before a dog walk around Hermitage. My dog was made just as welcome inside as we were and service was speedy despite a busy afternoon. Just had to go back after our walk for a coffee in the outdoor...area. Well organised and pretty garden with good recycling and dog bowls too. Good cookies. Highly recommend if you are in the area.More

We often stop by the Lodge Coffee House before or after a nice walk in the Hermitage. Lovely soups and crepes - not your average coffee house and reasonably priced as well. On top of nice food, they really made an effort to make the...place nice for kids (find the little secret hiding place) and dogs. And any other clients with tables outside. It's always clean and lovely service. I'd totally recommend as the best cheap eating place in Edinburgh.More

The Lodge Coffee House is always a good stop for a hot drink & hot filled roll before venturing into the Hermitage of Braid for a walk. Friendly staff & good refreshments.

Handily placed after your walk in the Hermitage or on Blackford Hill, this likeable place serves excellent coffee, scones and light snacks. There is a large garden with tables as well as a number of inside tables, perhaps more inside than it first appears. Popular...place which can get busy.More

Lovely place to visit when walking a dog along the hermitage. Coffee is lovely. Girl behind the counter who serves is absolutely brilliant, working in that hot kitchen all day as she was when I visited this morning is very smiley and charming.

Five of us in a walking group and this was a much needed stop for a light lunch. Very busy and outside seating was full - people with dogs and children - but we managed to get a table inside just as the occupiers were...leaving. Two had soup with homemade bread, and two had toasties. I had a hot roll with lorne sausage. We all had teas and coffees. Prices were reasonable and service was quick. Nice place and very popular when the weather is fine.More
