Popped in here 20 January 17 for lunch and it was full. But to be fair the lady said she would take my number and ring me if a space popped up. 15 minutes later phone went and she had a table for 2 going. Great choice to wait. Pate was stunning and if you want you get more oatcakes... More

Called in off the street on Saturday night, had a beautiful meal, chicken liver pate and the fish pie was amazing. That good we booked for the following night, just left and again had a lovely meal. King prawns were the best and the steak was cooked to perfection. The staff are great and so friendly, they can't do enough... More

What can I say about wildfire restaurant in Edinburgh, it's gotta be the best tasting steak I have had in years. Small place but big taste my colleague and I, ordered the soup and the fillet Angus steak 1 word, amazing!!!! Great staff very friendly and it was a recommendation from a guy that was handing leaflets out. It's one... More

An exceptional lunchtime find. A small place that really cares about what it does. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. The food was delicious - simple and done well. We both had mussels, Minx had Cajun salmon and sea bream for me. All beautifully prepared with a nice Riesling in support. A busy place so probably need to book - we... More

I booked this restraunt after scouring trip adviser for ideas. I wanted a restaurant that would cater for one of the party not being able to eat garlic. We were greeted by lovely staff and shown to our table. It is a small restaurant but I think this created a good ambiance. The menu is wonderful lots of different things... More

Cannot fault this restaurant for food or service. Great sirloin and a really good fish pie. Pudding was a warm chocolate and almond cake with ice cream and fruit compote. It was fantastic. Found this by looking on Trip advisor. It was all it is supposed to be.

Went on the Monday night just after their reopening and the popularity of this small restaurant was obvious as a sign on the door explained they were fully booked! Not sure what it looked like before the redecoration but now appears as a small, informal family bistro, with a limited menu, rather than the restaurant I was perhaps mistakenly. expecting.... More

Excellent quality restaurant with very good steak and haggis. Quite small, although our, booked, table was fine. Lot of people were turned away without reservations. Reasonably priced and well located on Rose St.

My first trip to Edinburgh and I was very impressed with the city, the people and the food. My husband took me to Wildfire as he'd been there before. We didn't have a booking but luckily they fitted us in on the late sitting, which suited us perfectly. I had the haggis to start with. It was filling but utterly... More

e dined as a couple after Christmas whilst visiting Edinburgh having booked in advance after read good reviews - it didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly and the service faultless. We had starters of mussels and goats cheese, mains of Fish Pie and Fillet Steak. Desert was oatmeal/honey/whiskey ice-cream with fabulous shortbread and a sticky toffee pudding. We couldn't... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
