Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staying in the IBIS hotel on South Bridge the hotel directed me to Roti which was on the opposite side of the street. The greeting was very friendly and I ordered the Mango Juice (this is a BYOB restaurant) and a Palace Chicken with plain...rice. Food was excellent and plenty of it and the whole experience was very good indeed. Am staying in the same hotel in Feb 24 and will definitely be re-visiting this restaurant during my stay. Well done the kitchen and front of house staff.More

Just dinner here , wasn’t sure if the reviews I read were going to live to expectations. The restaurant is not very fancy place but ok . The tarka dal was exactly as it should be, paneer makhani was nice and spicy, chicken tikka masala...was ok. It’s bring your own drink and there’s no corkage charge, office license is next door. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. So yeah it Hit the mark . Try it if you want Indian food in EdinburghMore

Excellent Punjabi garlic lamb curry, really delicious. Generous portions and lovely staff. No licence but means less busy. Definitely worth a visit.

Staff were very pleasant and efficient. An extensive menu with many vegetarian options. Option of taking courses as mains or tapas. Delicious range of accompaniments. Food was absolutely delicious. Has a table licence but range of soft drinks in house, which adds to value. There’s...a Sainsbury’s over the road for wine or beer. Would recommend.More

Usually go to Dishoom or Mother India in Edinburgh, both were full & we were hungry & short on time so tried Roti; will definitely be back! Don’t serve alcohol but you can take your own, service was quick and friendly & food was great....Only complaint was the railway lamb contained more bones than meat so wouldn’t order that again (although the sauce was delicious!) but the rest was lovely. Also very inexpensive!More

After seeing an early evening show at the Edinburgh Fringe and walking back to the car we were attracted by the smell emanating. The food was excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. They don’t have a licence to sell alcohol but you are welcome...to take your own. My wife is tea total so it didn’t bother her. There is a Sainsbury’s local opposite I had a few beers before so order a Lassi and glad I did because my main was pretty spicy. Would definitely recommend itMore

Arrived with 14 hungry mates. Within 10mins a table was set. We ordered 4 × tawa mix. The food was banging. Traditional Asian style. Flavoursome and meat cooked to perfection. Usually critical of city centre based restaurants offering commercial curries but really impressed with the...quality. Definitely recommend. Also friendly service and boss was a top manMore

Stunning food. We are a couple who regularly go for a curry and the meal we had on the 9th July is hands down the best Indian food we have ever had. It was delicious.

Visiting Edinburgh for my birthday and Having read some very good reviews we decided to eat here. Arrived on time and waited 10 mins to be seated. Not a problem as it was a Saturday but it was only 6.30pm. Waited further 15 mins before...our order was taken by the manager. Then proceeded to wait 45mins before the food arrived. In the meantime 2 tables that had arrived after us were seated and been served. When I questioned why we were still waiting I was told they had been there before us. They most certainly were not ! Called the manager over and questioned regarding wait time and the 2 tables that had their food. Manager said he would sort it. Asked for starter and mains to come together due to already waiting so long. Starter arrived on its own 5 mins later. No main course. Questioned again and was told mains on the way. To be fair the starter was delicious but very small portion for the price. The mains arrived, 2 chicken currys (tapas size) vegetable biryani, veg curry, potato and aubergine, Nan bread. The chicken was very tough and inedible, sauce very salty. The biryani was stodgy rice with frozen vegetables. Potato and aubergine was ok but oily. Nan was ok. Called manager over again to complain this time He said everything was cooked fresh. Told him how dissatisfied we were, no offer to cook again so told him we would pay for starters only. No apology just said they had a large party they were cooking for. I’ve really thought twice about writing this review but feel the level of service and quality of food needs to be addressed urgently.More
