Highly elevated wine selection and incredible Italian food. We appreciate the wine selection and had a delicious, reasonably priced bottle with our meal. The Italian food (Aubergine Parmesan, lasagna and shrimp scampi) were absolutely delicious. The eggplant was thinly sliced and perfectly cooked. Can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Looking forward to returning.

Booked for 5pm but arrived half an hour early. Shown to a small table where we were offered complementary nibbles and could order drinks while we waited. We sat outside as it was a lovely evening. When our table was ready we were talked through the menu by a waiter who clearly was knowledgeable and interested in the food and wine. The food was delicious - main, dessert, coffee and a fabulous wine list. I had the cheese platter which I could not fault. The owner/manager also spoke with us and his passion for his establishment was obvious. All in all great food, great wine and great staff. Will definitely be back !

What can I say about this classy delightful place? The food is great yes, the wine is better than that but what makes it all come together is the Herculean labour of love by father and son. This place is a must on anyone’s list. I’m not a huge contributor to social media but this place deserves a mention for all the right reasons The staff are just lovely and well informed displaying a non intrusive manner which is not often found in Edinburgh eateries If you are in Edinburgh just venture 5 minutes of the beaten track and a haven of first class measure awaits truly individual attention to detail in every sense. Wines that match food and in a completely non pretentious way You will not be disappointed I simply love this place put it on your list

We recently ate here as a group of 4 on a Saturday night. We had booked a table for 8.30, and were told that we probably wouldn't be seated until 8.45 - not a problem - however we didn't actually get a table until 9.15, by which time we were absolutely ravenous. For starters we ordered burrata and anchovies - both delicious but you don't get much for your money (one piece of cheese and one slice of bread for 12 quid). All of us ordered the house special Angus lasagne, which was again a rather small portion. The lasagne had a distinctive mustard/horseradish flavour to the bechamel which 2 out of the 4 of us found very unpleasant and not befitting the "world's best lasagna" comments we had read on other reviews. For dessert we had the alcohol pastry spirals which again 2 out of the 4 of us enjoyed (although the ice cream was very icy). Finally, the insulation and ventilation of the venue leaves something to be desired; the whole downstairs and the parts of the upstairs adjacent to the stairs were absolutely freezing cold. All in all, not a bad evening, but the high prices, small portions and the 45 minute wait for the booked table mean that we won't be returning any time soon, given the wealth of other options in the city.

A friend and I were meeting up after a long time not seeing eachother and we found this place recommended by the owner of the Airbnb she was staying in. We are so glad to have had that recommendation as it was wonderful. First impressions were of quite a "smart" place, but the service was impeccable, friendly and attentive without being over the top. Neither of us is a a wine buff, so the recommendation provided by the owner was much appreciated and perfectly matched to our likes and our budget. We ordered a sharing plate of charcuterie and cheeses, and they were amazingly delicious and so diverse. Suggestions for what to eat first and information about where they all came from made the meal all the more enjoyable. The measures to make the place feel covid-safe were very reassuring, but somehow very discreet, so the fact that we visited during the pandemic made no difference to our evening. Oh, and gluten free options were deliciously provided! I feel sad that I live 100 miles away, but nevertheless, I will be back!

ONE20 is a ONE off!!! Situated near the centre of town, in the New Town Community, the ambiance allows everyone gently relax, and to appreciate their designer surroundings. The food is top quality and burdting with flavours from all over. The Charcuterie is fabulous, The Parmigiana di Melanzane is warming and so flavourful. In these days of lock down, this local cafe has offered top quality meals to be carried home or eaten inside if it's daytime . They have truly saved the health and well being of the surrounding area. We may unfortunately, not be able to drink in their unbelievably delicious wines inside the cafe, but we can buy them to take home to drink with Kyle's oh so tasty homemade chicken liver pate with brandy and Bristol Cream!! Excellent continental products are for sale too. I shall never buy supermarket pasta again, now that I have tasted the real deal at home! A family business, Ronnie and son Kyle have succeeded in bringing the tastes of the world to Edinburgh! They are the people who, with their commitment, make this business work smoothly and professionally, offering nothing but the best.

On an exploratory visit we had an excellent cheese and charcuterie platter, one of the best we’ve had in Edinburgh. The Italian wine list is fantastic, comprehensive and is laid out in an interesting way by region. We then decided to return and book a long lunch for 6 people. We had a wide selection of the dishes, the Seabass en pappiotte being the star of the show as was the anchovy starter We explored the wine list aided by the helpful and friendly staff We all commented on the quality of the food and wine . It was excellent. This is a beautifully appointed room with amazing artworks for sale on the walls. The ambiance is relaxed and we will definitely be back. Bob

Found One20 early one morning as one of the few places in the New Town open for takeaway coffee. They obliged us by specially preparing GF lasagne as well as their normal lasagne for takeaway. When we picked it up it was piping hot so we had nothing to do other than serve the excellent food. Given the service and quality of the food we are sure Ronnie and Kyle will survive this difficult time.

Cooking for 6 during lock down I was thrilled to learn that this locals favourite was offering take home meals for Easter weekend. I ordered for 2 meals each over the long weekend. The food was so delicious. Fresh and tasty. We had pork, duck, burrata, lasagne, parmigiana and the most wonderful potato lyonnaise. It fed us for 3 days and was tremendous value and great taste. Hope they do again... can I put plea in for their absolutely delicious fish cakes.

Since One20 opened I have enjoyed wonderful meals there. Given the current 'lockdown', I was delighted when Ronnie and Kyle decided to open for part of the week to provide quality meals for eating at home. My favourites are their burrata, smoked scottish salmon as well as the luxury fish pie and beef lasagne, always with a bottle of fine wine. With social distancing, they do most of the cooking themselves, so contact them early, for latest menu, if you wish to enjoy the experience. With 'lockdown' we all need a night away from cooking!

Yesterday my husband and I had dinner at this wonderful restaurant. We felt very welcome right away and the food was excellent. We had the salmon as a starter which was a joy, and a very tasty lasagna and melanzane alla parmigiana as mains. For dessert I tried homemade pastry with caramel ice cream with sea salt, something I have no regrets about! To top off we got recommended a rare whisky to go with a very good cup of coffee. We went home feeling very happy and relaxed. Thank you for a terrific night!

Ronnie and Kyle are still producing their excellent and delicious menu: lasagne with Aberdeen Angus beef and comte is a speciality! Every weekend a special is added such as Barbary duck. You can drop in to collect (social distancing strictly observed) and also buy their beautiful continental products (oil, flour, biscuits etc). Local delivery to your doorstep can be arranged. The very interesting wine list (specially from Tuscany and Veneto) is also still available. Try the Bombino Bianco from Puglia - a subtle and delightful white! Fantastic to see this restaurant which has become a great favourite in Stockbridge, the New Town and northern Edinburgh rise to the current challenge and continue to serve its old and new customers with such quality and style.

This is not an ordinary restaurant, this is a place where you can truly and fully enjoy a dinner. It is uncommon to find a restaurant that care about the food quality and it is even more rare to find a place that care about the service quality like this one. They are passionate about food and wine and this is what makes this restaurant so special. Strongly recommended!

Yummy breakfast and coffee. With only a few tables inside and on the side walk, we stopped for a 10 am breakfast. While the selection is very reduced, the dishes were absolutely fresh and tasty ... just what we were looking for. We had Granola with fresh fruit, yoghurt and fruit compote and an avocado toast with chili flakes and rustic baguette. We also enjoyed an excellent coffee and cappucino, freshly made and tasting outstandingly well. Service was friendly and attentive and we enjoyed watching the people pass by along the sidewalk. Great choice!

We came to Edinburgh for my husband's birthday weekend and decided on this little gem for his birthday dinner. I emailed in advance and asked if they do anything special for birthdays, much to my surprise I was offered a personalised menu! My husband loves Italian and the chef/owner was more than happy to CREATE a 3 course meal for us incorporating my husbands favourite foods we had a salmon and avocado starter, lasagne for mains which was amazing (chef cooked this with lamb mince as we do not eat beef) and a selection of chocolate cakes for dessert followed by a delectable slice of tiramisu with a candle on top! The service was top notch as was the food, would defo reccomend to anyone visiting Edinburgh......If not for the food, stop by for a glass of wine!

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
