This was our neighborhood place when we lived here in 2010 to 2013. Have been back each time we visit. Again it did not disappoint!!

So unbelievably expensive and bad manager who didn’t greet at all. Would rather go down Broughton street which is cheaper and nicer. Food is really good though
Wonderful experience at the Magnum. The food was simply incredible. We had the ravioli (l licked the fork) the prawn tacos (divine) the fillet steak (cooked to perfection, and the monkfish (flawless). A special mention to our lovely servers Vince, Jack and especially Emily Many...thanks for a lovely evening!More
The food was delicious, the atmosphere very good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed our meal
Amazing experience! Lovely staff who paid great attention to detail. Food was excellent and we were so grateful of the birthday dessert surprise (on the house). Will definitely return in the future - a real treat.
Excellent welcome on entry. Table booked for 8, and as I was a little early, I had a drink in the bar. Table ready on time but not rushed through. Cullen skink followed by venison tenderloin, no complaints. Medium rare, more on the rare side...just to my liking. Buzzing atmosphere but relaxed and a lovely bar and restaurantMore
Such a great meal. Appropriate portions. Exceptional flavors and textures. Nice clean atmosphere. Will visit again. Decent wine selection.
Went here for a meal on Sunday, 10th September. Three of us. Food was very good. Service was smart, efficient and professional. Really loved the Magnum. Felt it was a tad too expensive but understandably so as it is in the centre of Edinburgh. Would...recommend and will return.More
We enjoyed the food but there was a crowd and the hard working staff didn't give us much attention. For example, we ordered drinks, took forever, never got to order the wine we wanted. But did I mention the food was very good? I'd still...go againMore
We went to the Magnum with another couple to celebrate a joint birthday, and we were not disappointed. The food was exceptional— a farm-fresh menu that offers. twist on traditional Scottish cooking. The food was inventive, nuanced, and most importantly, delicious! For starters, we had...the traditional Scottish fish chowder called Cullen Skink and haggis spring rolls, which were both delicious. We then had Monkfish, duck breast, and lamb as main courses, all of which were fabulous, as well as the vegetable sides. Since the menu changes weekly, with whatever is freshest, other diners might have different options. But the restaurant itself is lovely. It is elegant without being stuffy, and the vibe is warm and friendly. Since they knew it was a joint birthday they started us off with a glass of champagne for everyone at the table, and they also brought over desserts with candles and sang. The staff couldn’t be nicer and the chef couldn’t be better. We were all really impressed, and the four of us dying out a lot all over! Highly recommended.More
I’m traveling with wife and special needs son who doesn’t do well in restaurants, but wife and I were looking for some nice food. Magnum advertises takeaway, which is why I chose this place. But it turns out the chef is very protective and concerned...that takeaway may not meet expectations. I explained to Jack at front-of-house about my son, which he relayed to the chef. To my surprise the chef then insisted on plating everything professionally and then I could just bring back the plates next day. Awesome solution! My profound thanks to Jack and the chef for making our Edinburgh visit so special. It’s REALLY difficult to find good food to take away in Edinburgh, but your response to our situation will stay in our fond memories forever. The food was so awesome we went back a second night and repeated the experience. It was hands-down not only the best food but also the best service we experienced in our weeklong stay in this awesome city!More
Four of us visited The Magnum for dinner and were very pleased with the variety on the menu. The waiting staff were pleasant and helpful in explaining the differing items available. The restaurant itself was well decorated and we had plenty of room at our...table despite the fact that the restaurant was quite busy.More
Nice friendly atmosphere, very good food, the open ravioli starter was superb and the venison was done perfectly. Try the prawn tacos, very nice and the Ribeye was great. Will definitely be back here again.
We dined here with a group of 7 on holiday, with one of us being gluten free. Rob patiently guided us through each and every choice, consulting an allergen guide, and going back to ask the chef questions as needed. He was absolutely patient and...above and beyond in his service. I ate a delicious memorable meal with zero cross contamination concerns.More
Great dinner at a unique restaurant! Inside a bar/pub is is a lovely dining room with outstanding fare. The venison was excellent with a wonderful presentation. Service was casual, prompt and very friendly. Overall great experience!
