Perfectly cooked hake, gorgeous with goats cheese fondant potatoes and beetroot purée. Wine reasonably priced service excellent. Friendly and relaxed environment with perfect profession food and service. Would not hesitate to come back. Tiramisu desert maybe a bit too big, could easily serve half portions.

We were fortunate to get a table on a busy day by arriving just before the lunch rush. They had an excellent wine list, and we started with a selection of house-smoked seafood. I would probably recommend sticking with seafood selections here; my seafood pie was incredible and my husband's beef stroganoff was good but not incredible. The service was... More

Went on New Years Day evening. Really busy again but our table was good and the meal delicious. Service was excellent and we look forward to returning. Only criticism is that it gets too hot when it's busy.

For a seafood lover, it would be a shame if you never tried this place. The best seafood I've ever tasted! The platters are a must. A feast for the eyes and o my delicious! Some items are surprisingly divine, such as the crab, oysters and muscles. The bubble by the glass is super brut and compliments the food superbly.... More

Having heard about this restaurant and very positive reviews we just had to try it. On arrival my initial reaction was one of being underwhelmed, but on engaging the maitre d' we went on to have an excellent experience. Wonderful food, excellent service and pricing that reflected the quality of the food and drinks on offer. Highly recommended.

Good food, friendly staff but nothing special. Scallops are good, sea bass was done well, steak was alright but wouldn't order it again and the halibut was good. Sticky toffee pudding and creme brûlée were ok but nothing special. Everything was good, but we've had better.

Pre-booked meal for a Birthday treat. Food was good but nothing over average. We had oysters & glass of champagne to start; main courses included surf & turf dish with lobster which was no better than the sad £5-£7 supermarket rubbish and very very fatty steak. Cocktails were probably the best things we had. Small portions and not great value... More

There are several good seafood pubs along the Shore but in our experience this is the one to repeat. Friendly, welcoming, great service. Cullen skink memorable on our last visit, and I always have fish and chips, a test for a good restaurant and one the Ship passes with flying colours. This is not the cheapest place to eat in... We took a walk along the Water of Leith Walkway from the West End down to Leith itself, where we came across The Ship on the Shore. An appealing looking restaurant with a fairly extensive Champagne list and seafood menu it seemed like a good place for a late-afternoon lunch. We started with a couple classic Champagne cocktails with exceptionally... More
