Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a lovely evening. We had two small children and I was so impressed at how kids were catered for. Great children’s menu, lots of colouring in for them, plenty of high chairs and the changing room supplied nappies, wipes and bags. You don’t see...that very often!! Food was lovely and the staff were great. Very pleasant evening and I would love to go back.More

My friend and I went to Tapa for dinner last week and had a lovely experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and extremely helpful when it came time to order particularly our server Vxla. She gave us some great recommendations! The food was...superb as usual, we will definitely be back again!More

Loved Tapa, the restaurant was lovely we got a lovely table tucked in a corner by the window. Service was good, it was our waitresses first night and she was really good. Food was delicious and drinks great.

We’ve visited Tapa on many occasions since it first opened and have always been impressed. On this visit, it was a cold, rainy night so we were pleased to be able to park opposite. The welcome was warm and the service throughout was attentive. A...slightly changed menu from our last visit, arranged more as you might progress through your meal. A couple of favourites have disappeared but have been replaced by alternatives. We ordered bread to share, followed by a range of Tapas, baby squid, black pudding, pigs cheeks, artichoke, plums, aubergines and more. All excellent. Churros to follow with great coffee. We can only continue to thoroughly recommend Tapa, by far the best Tapas experience we have found. Like everywhere, prices have risen, expect to pay around £45 per head. Photos uploaded.More

Nine of us came for a family dinner and all had a lovely time. It was £28 a head for a really generous menu that included breads, dips, a plate with a trio of treats and two plates of your choice of tapas. Everything was...delicious. The aubergine crisps with honey were a pleasant surprise! Service was great throughout. Fantastic value for money!More

What a shame of a place and what a ridiculous way of manage a restaurant. We went for dinner last friday 14th with my wife and service was disappointing. Food was ok but overpriced. And here is my feedback below. We’ve been asked to leave...without letting us finish half bottle of wine, saying that they we’re closing at 11 and everyone must leave. The “Manager”, who was rude and unprofessional approached us saying… is 11 o clock, you have to leave. Which I asked why, if we still have 2 full glasses of wine, and you haven’t give any previous notice? He answered, yes!! already gave you the bill and you pay, now you have to leave. As a General Manager of a big restaurant in Edinburgh I asked him if he was aware of his license and his operating plan? Because you have to give your costumers the last call for last drinks orders and after that, you have 30 minutes for a drink up time with a meal. He replied in a very cocky and insecure way, our licence is until 10:45pm, you already had 15 minutes, no you have to leave, I’m sorry, you have to leave now. And he stood in front of us, staring at us and repeating, you have to leave now. At this point I was laughing, I am not a person who would argue, but yes we felt really mistreated, disrespected, and ruined our evening vibes. I will never come back and I will never recommend this place for a relaxed, nice, welcoming experience for anyone, careful tourist or local people, you could really invest that money somewhere else. The worst £90 spent ever for a dinner… tapas…. General feedback below: Water glasses dirty, smelling chemical from the washing machine. Waitress wiping crumbs from the table straight to the floor, throwing crumbs all over the place, chairs and on top of us, ridiculous. Atmosphere, was really nice when the guitarist was playing live, but after he finished at 9:30pm, they changed to pop music from a playlist. I would recommend to play Spanish music, having so many good artists, so I can feel i am transported to Spain when I am there. Disappointing. Tapas: Were small and overpriced, but they were good, really good morcilla. Iberico pork cheeks, I wouldn’t serve them on top of a pastry tart. Octopus, expensive and bland, needs seasoning. Artichokes were nice. Aubergine was too thin. Dessert: This was really embarrassing. San Sebastian cheesecake itself was nice and light, but it comes with “Homemade Dulce de Leche”… I am from Argentina and let me tell you, you get better condensed milk from a can than that thing. Urgently needs fixing is a nonsense. Hopefully the owner could look after this things better.More

Fantastic little place tucked away behind Commercial Quay. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and excellent food. The pork cheek was the highlight but there wasn’t one bad dish.

Fourth time i've eaten here and it was faultless as it has always been. Superb food squid, bravas, goat cheese with burnt sugar and peach coulis(outstanding) braised cheek tart with candied apple, padron peppers and a delicious white Rioja. Excellent VFM, best tapa's in Edinburgh.

From when we arrived, when they fussed over the dog, placing a rug and water bowl under the table, right through to when we left the service was excellent. Having previously owned a property in Spain, and fallen in love with the cuisine, it was...a delight to sample some authentic Spanish tapas. There was none of the cheap tackiness that you find in many U.K. tapas bars, and the tapas were of the correct proportion. There was a good selection of dishes available. All in all, top marks.More

My partner treated me to lunch here after a hard time health wise. Lovely restaurant, staff we great, our waitress was a little softly spoke and we struggled to hear her at parts but she was very attentive and explained the menu very well. We...went for the lunch deal for £15 per person! More than worth it! We had black pudding, pork cheek, squid, aubergine with honey and another couple of dishes I can’t remember the name! All were delicious! My partner has been here a few times before and I will definitely be recommending to others!More

Some advice; what not to say to a table that can’t get any notice or attention from a waiter or waitress: “Can you ask somebody else I’m on my break” When we were seen, out waitress took half an order and was then overly eager...to dash off without taking orders from other guests. On top of this, food was the forgotten and we had to ask. The food was good, but detail is lacking. We had almost finished plates before our sides arrived. If we never asked , they would have never came. Guitar was also too loud. It’s a shame really as I had told the people I was with this was quite a good restaurant. Unfortunately let down on this occasion.More
