Quite easy to find tapas places these days, but rarely are they of this quality. The focus on the black pig was something we felt quite unusual but my word do they know how to make the most of their speciality! The pork cheeks and steaks were both incredible, and such a pleasantly odd sensation for it to be more like beef than pork. Service was great, drinks reasonable and even better we went on a Thursday which happened to be 50% off!

Three of us and our Spanish water dog visited for a Saturday late afternoon early dinner.
Started with some home baked bread and olives. Bread was delightfully crusty on the outside and soft and luxurious on the inside.
Three of us chose the lunch menu which was still available to 5pm picking 2 tapas each. There are a few meat dishes with a supplement but otherwise £15 per head with sharing patatas bravas and peppers.
Portion size was more than ample in fact possibly just a tad too much.
Baked goats cheese and gambas and breaded monkfish notably fabulous.
Everything was crisp fresh and perfectly cooked. The flavours spot on.
Coffee and churos to finish off.
Staff were all lovely and very efficient.
Couldn’t fault a thing.
On the walls are old movie posters from international films - in Spanish of course. The decor worked fantastically well.
I’m already looking forward to coming back.

Stumbled upon this place walking around the Leith area of Edinburgh. Lunch special was 15 pounds per person which allowed each person to select any two tapas dishes, plus potatoes and mildly hot peppers to share. The most expensive tapas dish alone would have been 15 pounds (a pork loin called Presa), so this was a great deal. Everything was tasty, service was good. One favorite was the haddock and prawn skewers (brochetas de abadejo y gambas).

I’ve been a customer for years and always loved the food, service & atmosphere. However on my recent visit the food, service and atmosphere was very poor to the point that it ruined my Birthday meal. I deliberately booked for a very early lunch as I was taking my young child (who has been before & we felt welcomed on the previous visit)
This time around I was so uncomfortable I wanted to leave asap. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life before.
We were placed in a corner which made it difficult to get the push chair back out when leaving, I was asked about allergies & told the waiter that I had some allergies, however my food arrived with the allergies in it, I ate a small bit and then quickly realised. I spoke to a waitress who wasn’t helpful & unwilling to rectify it.
No help was given by the waiter when trying to open the door to enter or leave the restaurant.
It was clear as soon as we arrived that my young child wasn’t welcome. This attitude was from the waiting staff (except for one waitress who was very friendly , kind & compassionate) & The customers who were rude & aggressive towards my child to the point where I had to remind one man that it was 1pm, children do exist & they are entitled to go to restaurants, my child is very well behaved, loves restaurants, they are very curious & all they were doing was looking at the man and trying to smile and communicate with him. No harm was done.
I understand the staff aren’t responsible for customers behaviour however they are responsible for their own.
Unfortunately I won’t be back.
Food was also a let down. It’s usually very good but this time it was very poor.
Not paying attention to someone’s allergies can be fatal.

What a shame of a place and what a ridiculous way of manage a restaurant.
We went for dinner last friday 14th with my wife and service was disappointing. Food was ok but overpriced. And here is my feedback below.
We’ve been asked to leave without letting us finish half bottle of wine, saying that they we’re closing at 11 and everyone must leave.
The “Manager”, who was rude and unprofessional approached us saying… is 11 o clock, you have to leave. Which I asked why, if we still have 2 full glasses of wine, and you haven’t give any previous notice?
He answered, yes!! already gave you the bill and you pay, now you have to leave.
As a General Manager of a big restaurant in Edinburgh I asked him if he was aware of his license and his operating plan? Because you have to give your costumers the last call for last drinks orders and after that, you have 30 minutes for a drink up time with a meal.
He replied in a very cocky and insecure way, our licence is until 10:45pm, you already had 15 minutes, no you have to leave, I’m sorry, you have to leave now.
And he stood in front of us, staring at us and repeating, you have to leave now.
At this point I was laughing, I am not a person who would argue, but yes we felt really mistreated, disrespected, and ruined our evening vibes.
I will never come back and I will never recommend this place for a relaxed, nice, welcoming experience for anyone, careful tourist or local people, you could really invest that money somewhere else.
The worst £90 spent ever for a dinner… tapas….
General feedback below:
Water glasses dirty, smelling chemical from the washing machine.
Waitress wiping crumbs from the table straight to the floor, throwing crumbs all over the place, chairs and on top of us, ridiculous.
Atmosphere, was really nice when the guitarist was playing live, but after he finished at 9:30pm, they changed to pop music from a playlist. I would recommend to play Spanish music, having so many good artists, so I can feel i am transported to Spain when I am there. Disappointing.
Tapas: Were small and overpriced, but they were good, really good morcilla. Iberico pork cheeks, I wouldn’t serve them on top of a pastry tart. Octopus, expensive and bland, needs seasoning. Artichokes were nice. Aubergine was too thin.
Dessert: This was really embarrassing. San Sebastian cheesecake itself was nice and light, but it comes with “Homemade Dulce de Leche”… I am from Argentina and let me tell you, you get better condensed milk from a can than that thing. Urgently needs fixing is a nonsense.
Hopefully the owner could look after this things better.

Avoid this place like the plaque the owner bully boy Charlie Johnston the most arrogant aggressive person I've met . We went for tapas as have done before with a registered assistance dog we ordered food not a proplem all going well we also ordered food for the dog as everybody knows they have to eat !!!! To be told it's unsanitary for a dog to eat in the restaurant even when they sat us in a corner away from everyone which seemed very discrimatory when asked the reason and to speake to Charlie he came over spoiling for an argument. When asked politely that a child could eat and throw food around the restaurant that was acceptable it seems it is ????? Strange as I have said the dog is trained and very well behaved and is welcome in every restaurant in edinburgh we've eaten in edinburgh including the ivy highly recommend there and Mitchell stared restaurants . I think this owner needs to check his approach even his staff were horrified by his actions and agreed he was a bully not a nice man avoid edinburgh city council will be made aware of the incident and his discrimatory attitude

I've been a customer of Tapa for several years.
Relatively recently,I signed up for their e-mails, perhaps wrongly, as I've been quite flooded by them.
But I have the habit of reading everything in front of me.
Yesterday, Thursday, I was surprised to be asked to think about booking the same evening for the Thursday Club.
I found myself concerned about their last-minute panic. I was already booked in, however.
At the appointed hour, two of our four arrived on the dot. We were promptly shown to our table.
Soon after, we were offered drinks, and then a wondrous array of four menus, the wine list and a Thursday Club clip-board were delivered.
I have this habit, so I picked up the Thursday Club clipboard to remember the items excluded from the excellent 50% offer.
To my surprise, I found that we had an allocated time-slot, for 1 to 4 people, of 90 minutes, after which the 50% offer would be unilaterally withdrawn.
The remaining two guests arrived fashionably ten minutes late.
Familiarity with the menu meant swift ordering. The ordered food arrived relatively smoothly, if incompletely.
We ate quite rapidly.
We were nevertheless startled to get a waitperson telling us we had 25 minutes left of our slot.
Risking indigestion, we quickly ate our newly arrived tapas. The ten minute warning was as unexpected as the first.
We managed to escape without penalty or arrest. (The food was fine, as usual.)

Return visit after a few years.
Nice welcome and seated quickly.
Had pre dinner drinks at one of the comfortable tables for 2.
Server was very friendly and helpful with wine/ food choices. Unfortunately the wines I had hope to have were not available.
We chose several dishes inc the different iberico secreto ribeye and fillet preso.
The only dish that disappointed was Baby Squid it was more batter than squid meat. Calamari would be a better option.
No service charge which I like as it allows you to tip in cash which is always more personal.
Again I will mention the friendly attentive staff.
Overall we will be back soon

We’ve visited Tapa on many occasions since it first opened and have always been impressed.
On this visit, it was a cold, rainy night so we were pleased to be able to park opposite. The welcome was warm and the service throughout was attentive.
A slightly changed menu from our last visit, arranged more as you might progress through your meal. A couple of favourites have disappeared but have been replaced by alternatives.
We ordered bread to share, followed by a range of Tapas, baby squid, black pudding, pigs cheeks, artichoke, plums, aubergines and more. All excellent. Churros to follow with great coffee.
We can only continue to thoroughly recommend Tapa, by far the best Tapas experience we have found.
Like everywhere, prices have risen, expect to pay around £45 per head.

An unplanned visit where we were fortunate to secure a last minute table as the restaurant was clearly very popular. A very friendly welcome although no initial checks made regarding allergies or intolerances. However, when we asked, an alternative menu / colour coded was provided. An apology also offered. Not necessary but party member was grateful.
The acoustic guitar and buzz made a pleasant atmosphere and we enjoyed the evening.
The tapas selection was very good and each dish ordered was very much enjoyed. Service remained attentive throughout and tables appeared to turn-around quickly. Obviously very popular.
As with most tapas restaurants, we found we could have eaten more but the cost can soon mount up.
It wasn't the first visit for some members of our group and all four of us enjoyed the evening and would most definitely go again.

The food and service was absolutely amazing! I love tapas/Spanish food so was looking for something like this and was not disappointed, it’s slightly tucked away so a bit of a hidden gem!
The lunch menu was such a great deal (2 dishes, salad & patas bravas for £15!) and the food was absolutely delicious & well presented.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful too.

Great food and service. We were a larger party and were given a set menu when booking and it was very well thought out, all the dishes complimenting each other. Only quibble was that the chicken tapa was a bit bland. Maybe it just didn’t compare so well with the other very tasty dishes.

Tucked up a wee lane from the shore, this hidden gem awaits you. Clearly people seek this place out. Food is excellent, cannot fault a thing, service was great. So why one star? As a busy restaurant they have a 2 hr table policy, understand that totally. We were at our table at 6.45 as per booking , we enjoyed our wonderful food and bottle cava.
My friend ordered desert and by 8.30 we started to get hassled to move, my friend was nowhere near finished, we were told at least 4 times about having to leave table, we could take our drinks to couple random seats squashed in between some tables apparently!
We got told that people were waiting to get on our table ( I could see them sitting at door with menus in hand). Not our fault they arrived early? We ended up paying and leaving, by time we were in pub along road it was 8.41pm. Still 6 mins within our 2 hour window.
Seriously disappointed after a lovely night with great food and service until 8.30 that is.

Can't fault the food quality or service, as everything was tasty and delivered to us by friendly and attentive staff. But we were really disappointed by the size of the dishes relative to their price...£5 for 2 olives each. £9.50 for a fish skewer which was one small skewer with two pieces of hake and two prawns. Everything we ordered was carefully eked out between us - which is not a typical Tapas experience and spoiled would otherwise have been a nice meal.

After FaceTiming my wife earlier in the day and seeing her tuck into some Spanish cuisine cooked by her manager I felt extremely jealous. Therefore my trusty Trip Advisor search oriented me towards Tapa - a very cosy, traditional style tapas bar in the heart of Leith.
On arrival I was greeted by pleasant staff who allowed me to sit in the front window seat as I was travelling alone close to the bar. I was asked if I would like to have a drink which prompted me to attempt some of the Spanish I have been learning and I ordered Una Gaza de cafe, con Leche, con azúcar (bad spelling but a coffee).
After spending 10-15mins scanning the options I went for the following tapas selection:
Morcilla de Burgos
Brochetas de Abadejo y Gambas
Alcachofas Con Ajo Blanco
Patatas Mixta
The menus is split into the following; From the Meadow, From the Sea, From the Land and options to accompany your Tapas. As you can see above i choose one from each section.
I washed this down with Alhambra Reserva 1925 which was a lights tasting beer with a massive strong kick. Would highly recommend this but not for a sesh as its 6%.
To say I was dining alone the waiters and waitress were very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable.
