We had Sunday lunch at Whiskers from their fixed price menu. The food was excellent, service very good and excellent value for money. Recommended.

I really wanted to love this place but they seemed so disinterested in us. We each had a glass of wine and had to literally flag the man down after being finished our wine for quite some time - who was busy cleaning glasses at...the bar just to get us our bill.More
This gem of a restaurant has eluded our party until now and boy, have we been missing out! The restaurant serves quality local produce in fully flavoursome dishes, which our party loved. Couple this with a lovely setting and attentive, knowledgeable service, and it made...for a wonderful experience. The £30 per head, 3 course lunch menu is exceptional value for money and we did wonder how they managed to serve such fantastic fare at this price point. Please get yourself along to Whiskers, as it is worth the effort!More
Whiskers has an attentive and skilled staff that warmly welcomed us into a simple but warm atmosphere. We started with the Mushroom Spring roll where the slightly sweet sauce excellently accented the earthy taste of the mushrooms. One of us had the Guinea Fowl with...lentils while the other had steak. Both were cooked to perfection, tender, and flavourful. We finished with a lemon tart whose brisk, fresh taste was a perfect ending. Wine pairings for dinner and dessert were perfect.More
We always always have a fantastic experience in Whiskers. We usually go for a family Sunday roast and the food is faultless with generous portions and lots of fresh vegetable sides to share. The staff are warm, professional and knowledgable and happy to give recommendations...about the food or wine menu. Can’t recommend it enough!More
We walked from our nearby Airbnb Flat and enjoyed cocktails, wine and dinner including dessert. The restaurant was not busy and we were welcomed and seated by a very gracious host. Our appetizers were wood pigeon in a delicious cherry sauce. Main courses were Lobster...Tagliettere and a Roasted Trout in a light pea broth on top of sweet potato. We enjoyed an Old Fashioned and Prosecco with a glass of wine with the fish, paired by the owner. The wine menu is outstanding. Dessert highlight was a strawberry concoction full of flavor. Definitely give this spot a try.More
Popped in for lunch without a reservation on a wet cold and windy Edinburgh Saturday recently. We were met at the door and then served by Miguel whose knowledge of wines is encyclopaedic. The food was very good and represented good value for money. The...ambience was also very good with tables well spaced apart. Would definitely go back next time we are visiting Edinburgh.More
Dinner with three friends turned into a memorable reunion. Lobster ravioli was the star first course. Difficult to pick a winner from the mains. The bouillabaisse, the lamb rump, vegetarian curry and rump steak were all delicious and well presented. The wine list is exceptional...both in terms of its range of interesting wines from boutique producers around the world as well as its pricing which encourages the selection of wines at the more expensive end. We chose a very good German blauburgunder which was a great expression of this grape. The sommelier is a very knowledgeable and passionate enthusiast who is a sad loss to the Green Room. He is to be congratulated on what has been achieved hereMore
Enjoyed excellent food & wine. Menu is varied and portions are generous. Service was friendly & attentive without feeling that we were rushed. Mussel starter came with delicious bread and Guinea fowl mains were beautifully cooked & served with interesting accompaniments. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyable evening, food was outstanding, I had the venison was melt in the mouth and my wife had the sea bream which was so well flavoured. Staff were super attentive, really pleasant and very helpful with suggestions or advice. If you want a classy,...friendly, high quality experience, this is where you should head.More
We had a wonderful experience at Whiskers. The food was outstanding, the wine choices were abundant and the service top-notch. I had the sirloin- cooked to perfection - and my husband had the Guinea fowl which was quite delicious. The smoked ham terrine starter was...great.More
We are in the process of moving back to Edinburgh and are scoping out local eateries to find our foodie home. We love the Scran and Scallie which is a stone throw away but it is commonly busy and a little noisy. I spotted Whiskers...today and got an early table which is our preference. It was quiet but the greeting was warm, friendly and helpful. The food was - for Mr Fleetcat stunning - delicious scallops, amazing fillet steak and I didn't get a chance to try the passion fruit brullee as it disappeared in a nanosecond. I enjoyed the parsnip soup but maybe a tad sweet for my personal taste. The cheese souffle was ideal. This was a joy to find for when we move to Edinburgh later this year.More
Staff are both professional and friendly. Reasonably priced given the high quality of the food. Starters were very tasty without being showy or pretentious. Second course satisfying roasts, perfectly cooked.
The food was good, staff charming but take a jumper! My friend booked and had asked about the Christmas menu at the time. On arrival, the staff were charming. We were seated but given the standard non festive menu. I had to ask for this....I’m not sure why this wasn’t given to us automatically as it has been requested on booking. These are the type of things that frustrate me as it’s as if they’d rather you took the standard menu. It’s Christmas time so why not push the festive menu, especially as we had booked it and there were only 4 other diners in? It’s well advertised on their Facebook site. I ordered the salmon gravlax as a starter and my friend the terrine. The salmon was lovely and fresh, complimented with notes of beetroot and citrus flavours. We were offered bread and olives at the start (at an extra cost) but wanted to save our appetites for our three course meal. However, no bread was offered with the terrine. Surely it is enjoyed more with a bread type accompaniment? We asked and were supplied with some but it would be nice if this was standard. We both had turkey with all the trimmings and it was delicious. A generous portion with lovely vegetables and the roast potatoes mopped up the tasty gravy. Dessert was gorgeous. We ordered a trifle and chocolate and rum tart and demolished the lot. Yum. The Italian house red wine was tasty and good value. However, the restaurant was very cold. So cold that it did detract from my enjoyment of the experience. I did mention it and was told they did have a problem heating the salon. I had to borrow my friend’s shawl to keep warm and my feet were frozen. The ladies’ toilets were very warm and had a plug in heater. Perhaps this would help in the main restaurant.More
Absolutely wonderful experience, food, wine and service excellent. It’s one of stockbridge’s finest places to eat, highly recommended 😀
