Enjoyed a good pint or 2 in the mercat. Quite small for the numbers that jam in upstairs and downstairs where they have a big viewing screen but generally a good buzz when you go. Very handy for haymarket trains etc.

We were provided with our drinks and placed our order promptly. Then the service ended until our starters arrived after 30 minutes. Our main meals followed 40 minutes later minus one meal. This meal arrived so late it was taken off our bill. Service was...More

Disinterested - verging on surly - staff made this a thoroughly unpleasant experience. The notion of hospitality seems to have entirely escaped the management. Almost seemed to go out of their way to make clear customers are less than welcome.

Not somewhere we would have walked into usually (due to its frontage) but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food (humble, unassuming, hearty and all around tasty) as well as with the warmth of their staff! We both had a starter, a main...More
