We used the Hi-life card to book lunch. The menu was varied, and very enticing. The food was beautifully cooked and presented - real haute cuisine. We didn't indulge in desert, which was a pity as they sounded very tempting. Our waiter James was very...More

Like other reviews, we planned to have dinner at the Howard Hotel restaurant one of the nights we were here and it was excellent! The meal was wonderful and service excellent. We will certainly stay and dine here again.

Afternoon tea at the Howard Hotel is an exceptional experience, from the menu listing some 15 different types of tea to the delicate glasses of chocolate mousse to top off the repast, it couldn't be faulted. Service was efficient and friendly, with even the third...More

It was quite an odd evening, due to the fact that we were the only customers - I suppose this is really what you call private dining. The service was nevertheless excellent, as was the food. The bar is also nice and cosey and has...More

Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to

of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest
clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street
helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned

Description
Set in a luxuriant Georgian townhouse, The Howard Hotel is among Edinburgh's most beautiful. Its restaurant, the classically designed Atholl, gives the visitor the impression of stepping back in to a Jane Austen novel. Original features, from decorative mouldings to sash windows are simply decorated in white while a marble fireplace gives a charming sense of history. A peaceful, relaxing atmosphere sets The Atholl apart from the hectic Edinburgh restaurant scene while the traditional Scottish dishes are a joy for you Caledonian gastronomes. Whether it's an informal lunch with friends or a dinner date to impress the menu hits the right note every time.
