We used to be a regulars at the 9A but we moved out of the area, this was our first time back in a while, we weren't disappointed. The selection of starters and burgers on the new menu was great. Beers and wine very good. We thought it couldn't get any better, then our food came, wow, so good, starter... More

My husband and I walked in without reservations at dinner time on a Friday night and we only had to wait 15 minutes at the bar to get a seat and we were so glad we waited. The bar tender was incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was so good and the service was very friendly. They had a really... More

Visted Holyrood 9A on my graduation weekend. Brilliant place, ambience was busy but welcoming, the burgers were fantastic - the best i've ever had (I've had a lot 😜) and great range of beers to choose from. Highly recommend!

Great beer selection and lovely burgers. I attended here at the start of a night on the town, nice pints and a great burger with a nice atmosphere.

We went here in early Dec 2016. We had no reservation and it was really busy with office parties. But this was not a problem we were seated within 15 minutes. We both had burgers and they were unreal. Really friendly staff, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had the vegetarian breakfast. It was superb.sausages were very good . So was the Scottish food on my plate.. Don't know what it was but it tasted great. It worked about £10 ahead with orange juice and tea. The surroundings are very good also. Quite trendy.

Had an enjoyable meal here. Went with the chilli death burger with a gluten free bun. The burger could have done with upping the chilli factor a bit and might have preferred a plate to the wooden board it was served on but otherwise impressed. Nice big portions too.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
