First of all the hosts were very friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome there. You need to take some time for the visit, but quality makes it worth the wait in my opinion. The atmosphere was cosy with lovely music to relax and read the morning papers. We got a lot of tasty food for our money, portion... More

I went there with my friend in a really rainy day, it was my first time!and It was amazing! Pancakes are awesome, I couldnt eat all of them, the coffee is so good, and the waitress was super friendly. Is a really small place, but with a very lovely atmosfear, and the food-quality-price is so good.

We are great pancake lovers and when we saw how good the reviews were for this place, could not wait to try them here! When we visited here, there were a few people already in and there was only one member of staff who was very busy but we were happy to wait. We both ordered pancakes - I got... More

This was our final food stop for our weekend away. A delicious portion of pancakes for breakfast... and they were delicious. I highly recommend a visit. The shop looked like it could use a little TLC however having worked in this environment before I know how hard it is to keep up with all this and the 2 guys working... More

You can find the best pancakes in Edinburgh here and we try to go every week. It's a small place (5-6) tables so if everyone walks in around the same time you might find yourself waiting for your food for a long time, but it's completely worth your money if you're not in a rush. They also do discounts for... More

Went in looking for a lunch time bite, we were told it would be a forty minute wait, decided to just have a coffee. Waiter cleared the table of previous dishes but did not wipe the table,

I went here for lunch and was planning on ordering a sandwich or similar, but when I saw their range of pancakes I changed my mind and went for pancakes as they sounded so lush. Sadly I was very disappointed to be served burnt pancakes, where they had tried to cover up their little mishap by placing the burnt sides... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
