Right in the touristic area but /and still very chic , simplistic and delicious. The food was amazing. We had 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts. They were all delicious both eye catching and mouthwatering. Thank you. We will be back.

I found a charming spot on the Royal Mile, initially drawn by its intriguing name, "Angela with Bagpipes." My experience, however, exceeded my expectations. The ambiance was delightful, offering a cozy atmosphere. I opted for the sea trout, which was impeccably cooked to a perfect...pink hue. So good! This dish was beautifully presented as well. I also had the crab salad which was on this perfect cloud of bread. The broccoli was smoked over a bed of ricotta cheese. Great experience! Loved it!More

This restaurant is five stars all around. Delicious Scottish and British cuisine. My personal favorites were the eggplant, the cod fritters, the oysters, the crab crumpet and the haggish. Net/net: I loved everything. It's a beautiful space too with great service. If we had more...time, I'd probably come here again!More

Have eaten a number of times previously here (although not for a couple of years) and have always been delighted with the food however today was a disappointment and felt like a real rip off. The menu has changed and is small, which is not...a problem in itself however the portion sizes are even smaller! My husband had 2 small plates - the beetroot and kale and the crab, lemon, crumpet. Both were very nicely presented but were minuscule . The cost of these 2 plates was £23. I had the chicken breast, potato rosti and asparagus which was described as a larger plate and at £22 I would have presumed was equivalent to a main course - but no! It consisted of 3 tiny pieces of chicken breast (which admittedly tasted lovely and 2 equally tiny pieces of potato rosti which were greasy. We had sourdough and olives to begin with and the portion sizes of these were fine. Unfortunately I feel this restaurant is now aiming for the tourists on The Royal Mile who are willing to pay these prices for ridiculously small portions. There are so many other great restaurants in Edinburgh , if you’re looking for one on the Royal Mile try Wedgewood or The Witchery instead.More

Fine dining in a casual setting. Food is excellent and easy to share. Portions are not large and menu is not extensive but there is something for everyone. Decent wine list. Excellent service. The beet and kale salad was outstanding. Great location.

Not expected in the middle of royal mile. I was feeling a little peckish and needed a small but quick bite. Saw what seemed to be a wine bar with food and I was sold. Yes I know I’m in Scotland, yes I know Scotland...has no wine of their own but I wasn’t in the mood for pub so this hit the mark. I ordered the battered cod and a Caesar and it was the perfect size for a hold me over meal. If you’re into anchovies I’d ask for extra on the ceasar. They add ac12.5% gratuity, which I pay but still slightly annoys me when outside of the US. Hoping the rest of the world doesn’t pick up this horrible American habit as it takes away from the charm of other countries. Fish, crispy - salad, fresh YES PLEASE!More

Went midweek without evening reservation. Keen to go as had been recommended to us. Busy restaurant but they found us a table. Good prompt service and lovely food. Loved the haggis starter with dram of Jura. Also the salmon main course was good.

This restaurant is in the spectacular Royal Mile. The service was attentive enough. The food was good enough but 3 of the 6 mains on offer were beef (admittedly I maybe should have checked this before we went). Am I the only one who finds...paying extra for vegetables strange and rather disingenuous? To summarise, it was perfectly pleasant. But I had expected to be more impressed at the prices.More

Very reasonably priced restaurant on the Royal Mile with some of the loveliest , creamiest haggis I have tasted . Also, their whisky menu is reasonable prices with a reasonable choice of decent malts

The recipes were tasty and well presented. The main (venison and chicken) portions were absurdly small. The side (broccoli) was poorly prepared - mostly woody stalks. Walking away hungry at that price point is not too cool. Plenty of other choices for better food at...a better value. Very disappointed.More

Excellent food and friendly service, let down by a brief and boring wine list. Excellent haggis (of course) and venison.

Booked here for lunch, we arrived slightly early, this wasn't an issue and seated promptly. Restaurant is chic and not pretentious. The staff are passionate and helpful. The well priced lunch menu had something to suit all tastes, the food was delicious, and presented by...a chef who cares, a great find in the old town area, 100% recommended!More

The best restaurant I have eaten during my stay in Edinburgh. It was recommended to me by a local guide and I was not disappointed. At first it may look like nothing special just another restaurant that serves crowd pleaser on the Royal Mile. But...you cannot be any further from the truth. The Chef creates magic on a plate. Full of flavours and textures. The BEST venison I have had in my life. Served with barley, celeriac pure, walnuts granola, pickled blackberry and jus. The first course Parsnip Soup with Nduja already put me in a very happy place to begin with. It was all I needed on a cold and windy day. A dish that will warm you up from within, that is full of flavours. The portions are just right. Worth spending maybe a bit more money and eat very well. I would definitely recommend visiting the restaurant to anyone who loves good food. I will be back and bring friends with me to spread the love.More

The staff were really helpful and friendly and the ambience was nice and relaxing. The food was tasty, however, the portion size was barely enough to feed a small child, considering the prices too. The desserts looked lovely, but after spending so much on a...starter and a main, and receiving 2 tiny courses we had to give dessert a miss. Also not much option on the menu, and soft drinks not included on the menu anywhere at all so you are not able to see how much they are charging you per soft drink until you get the bill! Overall, quite disappointed ☹️More
