Only thing worth to mention here is the nice environment this cafe is set. An alleyway with nice ambience. The rest, overpriced food, very crowded and not much friendly staff. Just an average place.

Just off the high street, this was a great find. A few tables in an alley, there is an inside of course. A historic building. Great coffee. Friendly staff. Average prices. Wifi and toilets. Great for such a location. Definitely recommend.

The place takes you back to the 18th century with the interesting story of Deacon Brodie displayed on the walls of the room. It’s very popular amongst tourists, so even if you find a table, you will probably have to wait in the queue to...More

Great breakfast food and very friendly and efficient service. And the backstory and interior is pretty cool, too.

Located along the Royal Mile, this is a historic building with both indoor and outdoor seatlng. When we visited, the outdoor area was full. The food is good. You order at the counter and it is delivered. The soup and scone combo was just right.

Just down the street from the castle, lovely outdoor cafe for a sunny day. Magnificent cheese sandwich, quick service. Can’t go wrong for a cheap lunch.

Small, off the main track and busy, Deacon's House was a great find for a quick lunch. In a Close just down from the Castle, look for the colonial guy standing on the sidewalk. Soups are very good as are the sandwiches. We didn't have...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Hey there, Not sure if they allow dogs inside, however they have a seating area of 3 or 4 tables outside the restaurant (which is a courtyard off the Main Street down a alley way).
