We were impressed with the relaxed, carefree atmosphere and good service. Food was delicious and portions were generous. Wide choice of starters and mains and most come with tasty bread portions. This was our first taste of Lebanese cuisine and it was so good that it won't be our last.

Never disappointed at this friendly, family run Lebanese restaurant. The food is delicious, freshly made and suits all tastes - vegetarians, vegans, meat eaters. Cannot recommend Beirut more highly ... and we go very often !

My friend and I came here on a rainy night and were immediately warmed by the atmosphere. The waitstaff were pleasant and friendly, the food was AMAZING (we ended up ordering a second starter of halloumi because it was SO good), the atmosphere was warm, and the price was right. All in all, one of the best meals I've had... More

we went for the set meal for four, every single dish was delicious, plenty of bread to go with it, and no corkage charged. excellent value for money but having had the set meal for two before, think you get more per person with that.

I casually discovered the restaurant. We went in late at night just to have a tea with my girlfriend. As I am Lebanese myself, Youssef insisted to invite us and wouldn't let me pay. It's a pity we were leaving Edinburgh the next day. When I come back, I'll make sure to stop by and taste the delicious Lebanese food... More

the food was cold and the service was dodgy but it was very busy during fringe and I have had better services before the fringe.

We visited Beirut in Edinburgh and the meal was fantastic -especially the chicken liver....The service was great and the staff were very helpful. If we visit Edinburgh again, then we will definitley pay a visit to the Beirut restaurant.

Me and my husband come to Edinburgh from Aberdeen especially to eat at this Restaurant. Quality authentic food always. My favourite dish is the Farouj Meshwi.

One of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh but mainly because I love Lebanese food. The set meal has fantastic starter as you get to try lots of different small plates. BYOB so remember to take along alcohol if you want to have a drink. Area outside for dining and for shisha pipe if so wish. Service isn't the best but... More

Service was friendly and quick but the food was disappointing. It was all quite bland and of average quality.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
