Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

a culinary gem. The minimalist decor creates a stylish yet calming atmosphere, Favourites and stand out dishes of mine include the North Sea crab with melted butter and sourdough, and the Berkswell cheese croquettes, both bursting with flavor. and the miso and hazelnut provide a...perfect end to the meal. Overall, Noto delivers an exceptional dining experience with innovative dishes and impeccable presentation.More

Well, Noto with its small plate concept was really a great surprise. Everything was freshly prepared and served. The only thing you could complain about is that you would still have wanted to try a lot more of these small, delicious dishes

Booked lunch for my wife’s birthday and ordered 5 of Noto’s ‘small plate’ dishes. 1 hour and 20 minutes later only 2 dishes had turned up, and thereafter we were ignored by staff, no checking on us, no explanations, nothing. Very poor and not the...experience we should have had.More

The food here is Off The Chart Good, but that's only half the reason you should go if you haven't already. The other half is just how amazing the service is. I've been dining here for years now (including my last meal out before lockdown!)...and have never had a lacklustre dish or less than attentive service. I also can't believe I've never written a review so hopefully this is better late than never! The menu is seasonal except for the north sea crab in warm butter, which is for me the absolute star of their menu and too good to rotate out, They also say its for sharing but trust me, you won't want to... If you ever want a pick me up, take yourself here. You will not be disappointed, and you might just find yourself a new fave in Edinburgh which given how spoilt we are for restaurants is really saying something.More

Stumbled across Noto when looking for lunch and what a find! Sharing plate style, with a limited but interesting menu, strongly biased towards seafood. 4 to 6 plates between a couple is a good call. Every one we tried was exceptional, particularly the crab and...croquettes - absolutely first class with really intense flavours. But save a little room for dessert - 2 choices and I’m glad we tried them both. Superb! Definitely be back here again. Decent selection of wine by the glass, also very good.More

but that's a pretty relative assessment, isn't it? The concept of ordering small to medium-sized dishes depending on your appetite allows you to stop in good time if you're not satisfied without wasting a lot of money. The okonomiyaki was delicious, the sushi variant with...deep-fried seaweed inspiring, but the two medium-sized "main courses" were unfortunately mediocre (the fish was swimming in butter sauce and the lamp should probably have been preserved with plenty of salt). At least it has potential compared to all the other bad Scottish restaurants during our trip. Acceptable value for money.More

We had an incredible lunch here for my partner's birthday in March. Every single plate was brilliant. We loved the duck bao buns, the potato udon noodles and the temaki. Great flavours in every single dish. If you're thinking of booking - do.

Came here for my birthday and the food was delicious, especially the crab! Shared 5 dishes between 2 of us and we were both full. The cocktails are also great. Service was amazing, we were never without an empty glass. Highly recommend!

Went for lunch. Had a selection of dishes to share between 2. Apart from the tempura vegetables, all were tasty. But, small portions. Over-priced for what you got. The short rib was £24 and we got one small piece of meat each, which could easily...have been consumed in a single bite - but not at that price! Nice as a one-off, but wouldn't rush back.More

May have chosen badly but we were disappointed with the food here. Expectations were perhaps too high given that Noto is sister to the highly regarded, tasting menu only restaurant, Aizle. Noto is a small, pared back, easy going space, offering a concise menu of...made for sharing plates. Service was delightful, but sadly none of the dishes wowed. They were all rather bland, & in the case of the broccoli tempura, greasy & unappetising.More

We had a really fantastic lunch at Noto today - we weren’t sure where to go but eventually plumped for Noto. So glad we did. When we arrived and throughout our meal the staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was sooo good...- we shared 6 plates and they were all delicious. We also managed to fit puddings in and again they were beautiful. It’s impossible to pick highlights as everything was excellent - fresh, really tasty and different, beautifully presented and perfectly paced (we had a couple of dishes at a time). We can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Edinburgh. Thank you for having us!More
