Lovely couple who run the cafe, best coffee in town. Its a little cafe, with a small area outside, which is lovely when the sun is shining. A favourite of mine.

One of my very favourite places for coffee, for salads or soups. Paula and Marcello are just the loveliest people who make great food, the best coffee in Stockbridge (no mean feat!), in fact the best coffee in Scotland and give the best welcome ever. I feel like I am in Italy when I am there. Highly recommended!

With Italian owners, this place gives you real Italian food, with good options, with Italian touches. It's quite small - we sat outside in the sunshine which was lovely. Friendly owners.

I often drop in to Sprio at the weekend - the owners are now friends. This morning I went in after a run with a couple of pals and met up with some other friends. Paola and Marcello were as welcoming as ever and helped us keep up our coffee and pastry levels! No time for lunch today but from... More

This is a lovely authentic cafe with artistic flair. The coffee was fabulous as were the small italian chocolate treats. Will definitely be back.

A really cool cafe that looks great. We went in search of some lemonade to take-away on a hot Sunday morning, and found it! It was homemade and very delicious. Only complaint was that the service wasn't perfect, the lady who served us didn't acknowledge us for a while as she walked past us several times doing other things. But... More

I was introduced to this Italian Café a few summers ago by a local resident and I always call in when visiting Edinburgh! It is situated in a lovely street and the coffee and food offered seems to taste better on each visit. Good value for money too. The couple who run the café are very friendly and considerate- the... This is a smart Italian cafe full of style and clean lines. Superb coffee. Situated quietly in St. Stephen Street, one of Edinburgh most fashionably bohemian Georgian streets. Love it.

A very Italian cafe in St Stephen Street serving lovely panini, piedini and other delights. It has the very best coffee on sale that I have ever tasted in Scotland.

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
