I have been to Edinburgh 4 times and in each visit, I had always come here for dinner. The food is really good, the place is not that expensive considering its location and the atmosphere is just great, without hesitation I will recommend this place

Nice staff, and a great selection of beers, but the food wasn't up to much. The open sirloin sandwich looked like something your 8yr old kid had made for you as a surprise for your birthday, and the 1/2 kilo of muscles in garlic and wine was a big disappointment. 1/2 the shells had no meat in, and not many... I was visiting Edinburgh & on passing restaurant was handed a flyer. After dumping my gear thought I'd better find someplace for lunch. I looked at flyer I had received & the menu looked very appetising. So I went for lunch, being a new restaurant It was quiet. I had the smoked salmon with cream cheese & toasted ciabatta &... More

Went here for dinner tonight and really enjoyed the food - haggis, beeps, and tatties. Portion size was good as was the quality. Great service from Anna thanks. Would recommend.

Visited here for a late lunch. My friend and I both had soup to start, which is served with a little toasted French bread and garlic butter. Then we both had the fish and chips. Very fresh big portion and tasty. Enjoyed the atmosphere.... Great find in Rose Street.

Visited this restaurant for the first time this week. As we were arriving there was a large group of American tourist (30 or more) leaving. They all looked pretty happy. As a result we had to wait at the bar for our table to be ready but we were early for our reservation so that was O.K. The menu is... More

I went with my daughter after her singing class one Friday night. We got there and they had ticked off the wrong people and given our table away but we got another. We odered drinks of a coke and an apple juice which the waitress was not overly impressed with so I actually said "yeah sorry not overly exciting drinks... More

We got the itison deal: £17 for 2 steak meals. The rib-eye was perfect, accompanied by chips, onion rings and tomatoes (we didn't get any rocket??). We had scallops to start, and eton mess and apple crumble for pudding - all the food was fantastic. The staff members here are so friendly and welcoming with very efficient service. The homemade... Booked groupon offer - 2 meals for £17.00 - great offer. Our table for 6 was ready upon arrival, swift to bring menu and take drinks order. Friendly and efficient staff. We all ordered the 7oz steak with chips, onion rings and tomatoes. Steak cooked beautifully and fab onion rings. Will return next time in Edinburgh

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
