We travelled to Edinburgh on a steam special. We didn't have a lot of time in Edinburgh so chose a restaurant near Waverley Station. First impressions weren't brilliant - the restaurant is in the Old Waverley Hotel, slightly old fashioned - and for some reason...More

Breakfast here was filling and the choices were plentiful. Ask for a seat overlooking Prince's street and watch Edinburgh come to life. Servers are polite and friendly.

Have only been for lunch in the restaurant (always had the nice corner window table). The food is excellent quality and value. Service is good and staff very pleasant. Only complaint is that it is generally v v quiet in the restaurant so lacks atmosphere.

excellent lunch menu and really good value for money and lots to choose from. Patryk was out server and he was very attentive and friendly so much so that we ended up booking another overnight for December when the Christmas market is close by.

We stayed at Old Waverley Hotel for the weekend and had breakfast here both days. The breakfast consisted of cereal, toast, yoghurts, fruits and everything you need for a full English/Scottish (including Haggis). The food was lovely and plentiful and the restaurant was clean, tidy...More

Excellent breakfast. Can be busy. There is competition for a table in the window areas because of the view. Well prepared dinners.

Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street
is only half one, since buildings only line one side.
But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views
are from Princes Street as a result. From here you
look onto expansive and decorative public gardens
beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s
Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old
town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look

  • This restaurant is at The Old Waverley Hotel
An Edinburgh landmark, The Old Waverley Hotel is home to Cranstons, a beautiful modern Scottish restaurant open to visiting diners as well as guests. Pioneering a new wave of contemporary Scottish food with creativity and character, Cranstons kitchen offers a menu of treats that manage to not only reflect Caledonian tradition by using locally sourced produce and those ingredients so synonymous with Scotland haggis, whiskey, turnips but to present the diner with something utterly new, exciting and original. It really is a true taste of the country for the discerning foodie. In the very same way that its menu blends old and new, Cranstons setting is the perfect combination of up to date style and old world character. Set in one of Edinburghs most prestigious buildings, on the famed Princes Street, the dining room is nonetheless comfortably new in its styling. Offering unsurpassed views of the castle and Princes Street gardens through wide windows, the room is bathed in natural light thanks in no small part to the light, neutral dcor that brings original features such as plasterwork ceilings and Corinthian pillars in to the 21st century.
