Went there to for a couple of quiet drinks last night and was fine until I went to the toilet where I was insulted and sworn at repeatedly by what turned out to be one of the regulars there! When I went to advise the...More

The food at the Bailie is out of this world. I had the rump steak which was cooked just the way I like it. It came with chips, homemade coleslaw which was delicious, side salad and a sauce. The onion rings were out of this...More

Not great for families. Full of young people and not family friendly. Could be a much better experience if they appreciated families and were not rude to them.

We were staying in the area on a Tuesday night, which happened to be Quiz night. We stopped in for dinner and ended up staying for the quiz. It was fun, although we did not know many answers to the questions. Mussels and fish cakes...More

Came in for a pint. Great atmosphere not the easiest to get served but was mobbed for the Mexico game. Seem to have adopted Mexico for the World Cup

First night out on the town and this was in walking distance of the B&B. Very busy bar side. We found a table with ease on the other side of the bar. The wait staff was quite attentive and made recommendations when asked. I had...More

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement
