About
A warm & friendly traditional Scottish pub. Sitting at the end of the Grassmarket in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, The Fiddler’s Arms is principally a sit-down pub with an emphasis on spending the evening talking and drinking. We serve a modern twist on traditional Scottish food. Live music is one of our major attractions, with musicians performing every weekend from 9pm. With a house whisky and a “malt of the moment”, the drinks and music combine to ensure a relaxed environment which is never too loud to enjoy a conversation with friends.

I ordered a beef burger with bacon and it was delicious. The burger had some spice to it which was amazing. This was very filling the fries that accompanied the burger were crispy. The coleslaw was also good. The service was a bit odd where...I had to wait for a while before I was sat and served and from where I sat I could see the waiters giving me odd looks. Rather confusing. I say this because as an observant person, I saw them attending to others quickly and with bigger smiles. I felt awkward. Anyway the food made me happy though😂More

Fantastic!! Just visited for the second time in a week for dinner. First night I had the banana blossom 'fish' and chips. OH MY!! BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! Served with a quarter of a lemon, gorgeous chips and peas. Really good. Second night I...tried the vegetarian haggis and loved it. The prices are reasonable, staff friendly and service is quick and courteous. Thoroughly recommend.More

Tasty food and nice staff. We sat outside and we got to enjoy the Edinburgh energy and charm while eating our food. If you're passing by, I definitely recommend stopping by at least to have a beer.

I was there for an early dinner with my mum for her birthday, we were seated right away (at the end of a 6 top where 2 other people were at the other end already seated and eating) and the two servers were friendly enough...and took our drinks and food orders quickly. That is where the good points end unfortunately. As it was an early dinner we must have gotten there right as the service staff were having a shift change as the two servers were gone after they took our orders. Our food came, mine was not good and quite frankly seemed like the last remaining bits of each item (steak, salad, bread) that were thrown onto a plate. The tiny amount of steak I had was also coated in pepper and was just gross. I only ate half of it. My mums macaroni was also coated in a thick layer of pepper and she couldn't eat the top layer (luckily they had only bothered to put it on the top) I attempted to flag someone down to get a fresh meal for her as she cannot eat pepper but no one paid any attention to us. Pepper was not listed on the menu for her dish or she would have asked for it to be left off - due to potential allergens additional seasonings should not just be added on top of dishes like that. The chef clearly likes pepper, but everyone else doesn't necessarily want it all over their food. We finished (partially) our meals and our drinks and sat waiting for someone to come see to us so we could pay the bill and leave. At this point there were groups of people waiting at the bar to try to get a table. We were ready to leave and so were the couple at the other end of our table but no servers came to attend to either of us. Meaning an entire 6 top table was being blocked for use of new customers. Eventually we stated to a very grumpy server that if they brought us the bill it would open up the table for someone else. We had been attempting to flag this server down for quite a long time but she wouldn't even look in our direction. The server said she'd be back with the bill in a minute. At this point there were so many people in the small restaurant that I couldn't sit anymore as there was someone standing behind my chair and it made the tiny space impassable for anyone if I sat down. We waited as the server who said she'd be back with our bill cleared our table - which meant that people immediately tried to sit there. We waited a solid 10 minutes, standing there trying to keep out of the way before I went up to the bar to pay the bill with someone else. The other couple at the end of the the table also hadn't had their bill in this time, and they had also asked for theirs. At this point there were 2 service charges added to the bill, when I asked what the service charges were for the server said "It says on the menu we add a charge, but it's just a tip". I asked that this be removed and there was no problem with that - but when I looked at the menu later it only states they add a service charge to tables of 4 or more. We were a table of 2. And regardless, to add a service charge onto our bill after receiving minimum service was a bit ridiculous and I do feel like they do this to try to catch the American tourists out - as we noticed that everyone around us was American. If you're not paying attention my accent can sound American but it is not - and service charges in the UK are not a regular occurrence especially not for a table of 2. No one ever asked us how our meals were. Overall the food was bad, the lack of service was bad, the additional fees were bad, and the overall space was just too small.More

Walked a ways to reach the restaurant and the bartender was gracious enough to allow us to sneak in a meal even though the kitchen was closed. So grateful for kind people. Also the fish and chips were outstanding!!! As well as the fun location...and ambience.More

This restaurant has absolutely great food and drink selections. The pan-seared Salmon was delicious as were the veggies that came with it. Although the servers are in a pool and not assigned, you can flag down anyone to help you. Very nice atmosphere at the...Grassmarket eateries which also makes it a great location with views of the Castle above.More

Had salmon, dry, small, way over cooked. Vegetables were cold. For 35 US Dollars, very sub par. The steak and Guinness pie was reportedly ok.

We lucked out finding this place for lunch. All of the local food that we ordered was delicious and it tasted very fresh. We had bangers and mash with Yorkshire pudding, meat pie and fish and chips. We really appreciated the friendly staff.

We ate here a couple times while in Edinburgh. Great location. Place was very busy and at times hard to get a table but once seated service was good. Fine place to grab some pub food and a cold beer.

Came in here for lunch and I certainly was not disappointed, food was absolutely gorgeous! Staff were more than welcoming and accommodating, even provided a water bowl for my pup. The atmosphere was amazing, could not recommend this place enough and especially during the festival!...Great variety on the menu and was definitely the best burger i’ve had in Edinburgh by far, hats off to the chef! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️More

Great menu with an even better view of the Grassmarket, the sort of place you wish you could sit in for hours. Get a window seat if you can!! This bars storied history and patrons, including Robert Burns and Wordsworth, made it our favorite place...to eat in Edinburgh’s Old Town. Highly recommend the Cajun Chicken Burger and the Crabbie’s Ginger Beer. The fries were some of the best we’ve had.More

Hello. There is a limited number of tables in the Fiddlers Arms. They don't usually take bookings however should there be a wait for tables it is generally not more than 10 minutes.
