In Edinburgh for a conference, and we enjoy trying the Japanese restaurants when we are away. Kanpai did not disappoint, polite and efficient staff, authentic cuisine, wonderfully presented with a wide selection of fish to choose from. Very pleasant experience

A small place tucked into a sidetsreet which does not look so much from the outside. Slightly disappointed by the extent of the menu as I had expected something more like an izakaya, it is however called "Kanpai Sushi" so perhaps the clue is in...More

Went for dinner and the food was delicious and fresh. We expected to pay more than we actually paid, especially for high quality sushi. However, the service left something to be desired. We sat down and ordered beers. They didn't arrive after some time, which...More

One of the best meals I've ever had. Amazingly good food (the takoyaki took me back to Japan and was so good I could cry) and well worth its price! The food was fresh and amazing, the place itself was beautifully decorated and the staff...More

I love sushi but am a bit scared when I order. We had the loveliest salmon in panko breadcrumbs. I will definitely be back

Fantastic food in nice surroundings. Food was fresh and very tasty. The sushi was on point. Great dumplings and the octopus fish cake was outstanding. Will definitely return.

First time back in a while & didn’t disappoint - good Japanese paired with a Sapporo - crab starter is one of my favourites and was fab! Fresh seafood and loved the dragon roll

Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest

As far as I recall I don't think they do offer an omakase option. My instinct is they are more keen to offer the 'standard' type of service rather than this.
