Can't even go up the stairs to find a seat without being shouted at incredibly loudly (which I kind of important if I want to drink in, otherwise I'd go elsewhere). So loud in fact that everyone jumped and was looking to see what's wrong. Don't even bother, if they treat customers like they as soon as you walk in,... More

Excellent Starbucks. I'm a regular and we stopped here numerous times during our Edinburgh visit. It also was just around the corner from our Edinburgh Hilton. Nice seating and good views from upstairs.

It's a more quaint version of the US style Starbucks in a charming little storefront. The place was full and noisy but, since we were suffering from jet lag, it was a great place to get some coffee. Service was fast. It's located near the Museum of Edinburgh.

We are from Seattle. We know Starbucks. They can be so much better. When we travel, it is supposed to be an easy choice for breakfast when we are in a hurry. This Starbucks is friendly and fast, but the coffee is average and the food is too.

Waited at least 10 minutes before she tells me where I should stand to order. After asking her a bigger cup for my espresso she trows the first small one behind her and gave me the "Royal Mile Mean Look".

Good relaxed place considering it's on the busy royal mile. Exactly what you'd expect in terms of food and drink from the Starbucks chain.

Starbucks, it's a chain so what can we expect? The difference could be friendly people and clean facilities perhaps. Neither or.. The standard approach and the standard dirty facilities. Charge a premium price and get it right please.

Main seating upstairs as very small area on ground floor. Establishment was busy but was being cleared of used crockery etc and tables wiped. Member of staff offered to get our drinks and bring them upstairs for us, which I did not expect. Excellent customer service.

I have to say that this was probably the nicest tasting coffee I have had for quite a while. I wouldn't normally put a review for just a coffee but for whatever reason this one stood out and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
